Darby Bible

1And a womanH802 of the wivesH802 of the sonsH1121 of the prophetsH5030 criedH6817 to ElishaH477 sayingH559, Thy servantH5650 my husbandH376 is deadH4191, and thou knowest that thy servantH5650 fearedH3372 Jehovah; and the creditorH5383 is comeH935 to takeH3947 my twoH8147 children to beH1961 bondmen. 2And ElishaH477 saidH559 to her, What shall I do for thee? TellH5046 me, what hast thou in the houseH1004? And she saidH559, Thy handmaid has not anything at all in the houseH1004 but a pot of oilH8081. 3And he saidH559, Go, borrow for thyself vesselsH3627 abroad from all thy neighbours, emptyH7386 vesselsH3627; let it not be fewH4591; 4and goH935 in, and shutH5462 the doorH1817 upon thee and upon thy sonsH1121, and pourH3332 out into all those vesselsH3627, and setH5265 aside what is fullH4392. 5And she went from him, and shutH5462 the doorH1817 upon her and upon her sonsH1121: they broughtH5066 [the vessels] to her, and she pouredH3332 out. 6And it came to pass when the vesselsH3627 wereH1961 fullH4390, that she saidH559 to her sonH1121, BringH5066 me yetH5750 a vesselH3627. And he saidH559 to her, There is not a vesselH3627 more. And the oilH8081 stayed. 7And she cameH935 and toldH5046 the manH376 of 1GodH430; and he saidH559, GoH935, sellH4376 the oilH8081, and payH7999 thy debt, and liveH2421 thou [and] thy sonsH1121 on the rest. 8And it came to passH5674 on a dayH3117, that ElishaH477 passedH5674 to ShunemH7766, where wasH1961 a wealthy womanH802; and she constrained him to eatH398 breadH3899. And so it wasH1961, [that] as oft as he passedH5674 by, he turnedH5493 in thither to eatH398 breadH3899. 9And she saidH559 to her husbandH376, Behold now, I perceive that this is a holyH6918 manH376 of 2GodH430, who passesH5674 by us continuallyH8548. 10Let us makeH7760, I pray thee, a smallH6996 upperH5944 chamberH5944 with wallsH7023, and let us setH7760 for him there a bedH4296, and a tableH7979, and a seatH3678, and a lampstandH4501; and it shall beH1961 when he cometh to us, he shall turnH5493 in thither. 11And it cameH935 to pass on a dayH3117, that he cameH935 thither, and he turnedH5493 into the upperH5944 chamberH5944, and layH7901 there. 12And he saidH559 to GehaziH1522 his servantH5288, CallH7121 this ShunammiteH7767. And he calledH7121 her, and she stoodH5975 before him. 13And he saidH559 to him, SayH559 now to her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spokenH1696 for to the kingH4428, or to the captain of the hostH6635? And she saidH559, I dwellH3427 among mine own peopleH5971. 14And he saidH559, What then is to be done for her? And GehaziH1522 saidH559, Verily, she has no sonH1121, and her husbandH376 is old. 15And he saidH559, CallH7121 her; and he calledH7121 her; and she stoodH5975 in the doorwayH6607. 16And he saidH559, At this appointedH4150 timeH6256, when thy term is come, thou shalt embraceH2263 a sonH1121. And she saidH559, No, my lordH113, manH376 of 3GodH430, do not lieH3576 to thy handmaid. 17And the womanH802 conceivedH2029, and boreH3205 a sonH1121 at that appointedH4150 timeH6256 in the next year as ElishaH477 had saidH1696 to her. 18And the childH3206 grewH1431, and it came to pass one dayH3117, that he wentH3318 out to his fatherH1 to the reapers. 19And he saidH559 to his fatherH1, My headH7218, my headH7218! And he saidH559 to the servantH5288, CarryH5375 him to his motherH517. 20And he carriedH5375 him, and broughtH935 him to his motherH517; and he satH3427 on her knees till noonH6672, and diedH4191. 21And she wentH3318 up, and laidH7901 him on the bedH4296 of the manH376 of 4GodH430, and shutH5462 [the door] upon him, and wentH3318 out. 22And she calledH7121 to her husbandH376, and saidH559, SendH7971 me, I pray thee, oneH259 of the youngH5288 menH376, and oneH259 of the asses, and I will runH7323 to the manH376 of 5GodH430, and come again. 23And he saidH559, WhyH4069 wilt thou goH1980 to him to-day? It is neither newH2320 moonH2320 nor sabbathH7676. And she saidH559, [It is] well. 24Then she saddledH2280 the ass, and saidH559 to her servantH5288, Drive and go forward; slack not the ridingH7392 for me, except I bid thee. 25And she wentH935 and cameH935 to the manH376 of 6GodH430, to mount CarmelH3760. And it cameH935 to pass when the manH376 of 7GodH430 sawH7200 her afar off, that he saidH559 to GehaziH1522 his servantH5288, Behold, there is the ShunammiteH7767: 26runH7323 nowH6258, I pray thee, to meet her, and sayH559 unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husbandH376? is it well with the childH3206? And she saidH559, It is well. 27And she cameH935 to the manH376 of 8GodH430 to the mountainH2022, and caught him by the feetH7272; and GehaziH1522 drewH5066 near to thrust her away; but the manH376 of 9GodH430 saidH559, Let her alone, for her soulH5315 is troubled within her, and Jehovah has hiddenH5956 it from me, and has not toldH5046 me. 28And she saidH559, Did I desire a sonH1121 of my lordH113? did I not sayH559, Do not deceive me? 29And he saidH559 to GehaziH1522, GirdH2296 up thy loinsH4975, and takeH3947 my staffH4938 in thy handH3027, and go thy way. If thou meet any manH376, salute him not, and if any salute thee, answerH6030 him not again; and lay my staffH4938 upon the faceH6440 of the ladH5288. 30And the motherH517 of the ladH5288 saidH559, As Jehovah liveth, and as thy soulH5315 liveth, I will not leaveH5800 thee! And he roseH6965 up and followed her. 31And GehaziH1522 passedH5674 on before them, and laid the staffH4938 upon the faceH6440 of the ladH5288; but there was neither voiceH6963, nor sign of attention. And he returnedH7725 to meet him, and toldH5046 him sayingH559, The ladH5288 is not awaked. 32And when ElishaH477 cameH935 into the houseH1004, behold, the child was deadH4191, [and] laidH7901 upon his bedH4296. 33And he wentH935 in and shutH5462 the doorH1817 upon them both, and prayedH6419 to Jehovah. 34And he wentH5927 up, and layH7901 upon the childH3206, and putH7760 his mouthH6310 upon his mouthH6310, and his eyesH5869 upon his eyesH5869, and his handsH3709 upon his handsH3709, and bent over him; and the fleshH1320 of the childH3206 grew warmH2552. 35And he returnedH7725, and walked in the houseH1004 to and fro; and wentH5927 up, and bent over him. And the ladH5288 sneezed sevenH7651 timesH6471, and the ladH5288 openedH6491 his eyesH5869. 36And he calledH7121 GehaziH1522, and saidH559, CallH7121 this ShunammiteH7767. And he calledH7121 her; and she cameH935 to him. And he saidH559, TakeH5375 up thy sonH1121. 37And she cameH935 and fellH5307 at his feetH7272, and bowedH7812 herself to the groundH776; and she tookH5375 up her sonH1121, and wentH3318 out. 38And ElishaH477 came again to GilgalH1537. And there was a famineH7458 in the landH776; and the sonsH1121 of the prophetsH5030 were sittingH3427 before him. And he saidH559 to his servantH5288, Set on the greatH1419 potH5518, and boilH1310 pottage for the sonsH1121 of the prophetsH5030. 39Then oneH259 wentH3318 out into the fieldH7704 to gatherH3950 herbs, and foundH4672 a wild vineH1612, and gatheredH3950 from it his lap full of wild colocynths, and cameH935 and shred them into the potH5518 of pottage; for they did not knowH3045 them. 40And they pouredH3332 out for the menH376 to eatH398. And it came to pass, as they wereH1961 eatingH398 of the pottage, that they criedH6817 out and saidH559, ManH376 of 10GodH430, there is deathH4194 in the potH5518! And they could not eatH398 [it]. 41And he saidH559, Then bring meal. And he castH7993 [it] into the potH5518, and saidH559, PourH3332 out for the peopleH5971, that they may eatH398. And there wasH1961 no harmH7451 in the potH5518. 42And there cameH935 a manH376 from Baal-shalishah, and broughtH935 the manH376 of 11GodH430 breadH3899 of the first-fruits, twentyH6242 loaves of barleyH8184, and fresh ears of corn in his sack. And he saidH559, GiveH5414 to the peopleH5971 that they may eatH398. 43And his attendant saidH559, HowH4100 shall I setH5414 this before a hundredH3967 menH376? And he saidH559, GiveH5414 the peopleH5971 that they may eatH398; for thusH3541 saith Jehovah: They shall eatH398, and shall have to spare. 44And he setH5414 [it] before them, and they ateH398 and leftH3498 [thereof], according to the wordH1697 of Jehovah.
