Darby Bible
1And it cameH935 to pass in the ninthH8671 yearH8141 of his reignH4427, in the tenthH6224 monthH2320, on the tenthH6224 of the monthH2320, [that] NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 cameH935, he and all his armyH2428, against JerusalemH3389, and encampedH2583 against it; and they builtH1129 turrets against it roundH5439 about. 2And the cityH5892 was besieged until the eleventh yearH8141 of kingH4428 ZedekiahH6667. 3On the ninth of the [fourth] monthH2320 the famineH7458 prevailedH2388 in the cityH5892, and there wasH1961 no breadH3899 for the peopleH5971 of the landH776. 4And the cityH5892 was brokenH1234 into; and all the menH376 of warH4421 [fled] by nightH3915, by the wayH1870 of the gateH8179 between the twoH2346 wallsH2346, which [leads] to the king's gardenH1588 (now the ChaldeansH3778 were by the cityH5892 roundH5439 about); and they went the wayH1870 toward the plainH6160. 5And the armyH2428 of the ChaldeansH3778 pursuedH7291 after the kingH4428, and overtookH5381 him in the plainsH6160 of JerichoH3405; and all his armyH2428 was scatteredH6327 from him. 6And they took the kingH4428, and broughtH5927 him up to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 unto RiblahH7247; and they pronounced judgmentH4941 upon him, 7and slaughteredH7819 the sonsH1121 of ZedekiahH6667 before his eyesH5869, and put out the eyesH5869 of ZedekiahH6667, and boundH631 him with chains of brass, and carried him to BabylonH894. 8And in the fifthH2549 monthH2320, on the seventh of the monthH2320, which was in the nineteenth yearH8141 of kingH4428 NebuchadnezzarH5019, kingH4428 of BabylonH894, Nebuzar-adan, captain of the body-guard, servantH5650 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, cameH935 unto JerusalemH3389; 9and he burnedH8313 the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and the king's houseH1004, and all the housesH1004 of JerusalemH3389; and every greatH1419 [man's] houseH1004 he burnedH8313 with fireH784. 10And all the armyH2428 of the ChaldeansH3778 that were with the captain of the body-guard brokeH5422 down the wallsH2346 of JerusalemH3389 roundH5439 about. 11And Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard carried away captive the restH3499 of the peopleH5971 that were leftH7604 in the cityH5892, and the deserters that had deserted to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and the restH3499 of the multitudeH1995. 12But the captain of the body-guard leftH7604 of the poor of the landH776 for vinedressersH3755 and husbandmen. 13And the brazen pillarsH5982 that were in the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and the bases, and the brazen seaH3220 that was in the houseH1004 of Jehovah, the ChaldeansH3778 brokeH7665 in pieces, and carriedH5375 the brass thereof to BabylonH894. 14The cauldrons also and the shovelsH3257 and the knives and the cups, and all the vesselsH3627 of copperH5178 wherewith they ministered, they tookH3947 awayH3947. 15And the censersH4289 and the bowlsH4219, that which was of goldH2091 in goldH2091, and that which was of silverH3701 in silverH3701, the captain of the body-guard tookH3947 awayH3947. 16The twoH8147 pillarsH5982, the oneH259 seaH3220, and the bases which SolomonH8010 had madeH6213 for the houseH1004 of Jehovah: for the brass of all these vesselsH3627 there wasH1961 no weightH4948. 17The heightH6967 of oneH259 pillarH5982 was eighteen cubitsH520, and the capitalH3805 upon it was brass, and the heightH6967 of the capitalH3805 threeH7969 cubitsH520; and the networkH7639 and the pomegranatesH7416, upon the capitalH3805 roundH5439 about, all of brass: and similarly for the secondH8145 pillarH5982 with the networkH7639. 18And the captain of the body-guard tookH3947 SeraiahH8304 the high priestH3548, and ZephaniahH6846 the secondH4932 priestH3548, and the threeH7969 doorkeepers. 19And out of the cityH5892 he tookH3947 a chamberlain that was set over the menH376 of warH4421, and fiveH2568 menH376 of them that were in the king's presenceH6440, who were foundH4672 in the cityH5892, and the scribeH5608 of the captain of the hostH6635, who enrolled the peopleH5971 of the landH776; and sixtyH8346 menH376 of the peopleH5971 of the landH776 that were foundH4672 in the cityH5892. 20And Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard tookH3947 them and brought them to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247; 21and the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 smote them and putH4191 them to deathH4191 at RiblahH7247 in the landH776 of HamathH2574. Thus JudahH3063 was carried away captive out of his landH776. 22And [as for] the peopleH5971 that remainedH7604 in the landH776 of JudahH3063, whom NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 had leftH7604 behind, over them he appointedH6485 GedaliahH1436 the sonH1121 of AhikamH296, the sonH1121 of ShaphanH8227. 23And all the captains of the forces, they and their menH376, heardH8085 that the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 had appointedH6485 GedaliahH1436, and they cameH935 to GedaliahH1436 to MizpahH4709, namely, IshmaelH3458 the sonH1121 of NethaniahH5418, and JohananH3110 the sonH1121 of KareahH7143, and SeraiahH8304 the sonH1121 of TanhumethH8576 the NetophathiteH5200, and JaazaniahH2970 the sonH1121 of a Maachathite, they and their menH376. 24And GedaliahH1436 sworeH7650 unto them and to their menH376, and saidH559 to them, FearH3372 not to be servantsH5650 of the ChaldeansH3778: dwellH3427 in the landH776, and serveH5647 the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and it shall be wellH3190 with you. 25And it cameH935 to pass in the seventhH7637 monthH2320, that IshmaelH3458 the sonH1121 of NethaniahH5418, the sonH1121 of ElishamaH476, of the royal seedH2233, cameH935, and tenH6235 menH376 with him, and smote GedaliahH1436, that he diedH4191, and the JewsH3064 and the ChaldeansH3778 that were with him at MizpahH4709. 26And all the peopleH5971, both smallH6996 and greatH1419, and the captains of the forces, aroseH6965 and cameH935 to EgyptH4714; for they were afraidH3372 of the ChaldeansH3778. 27And it came to pass in the thirty-seventh yearH8141 of the captivity of JehoiachinH3078 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, in the twelfth monthH2320, on the twenty-seventh of the monthH2320, [that] Evil-MerodachH192 kingH4428 of BabylonH894, in the yearH8141 that he began to reignH4427, liftedH5375 up the headH7218 of JehoiachinH3078 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 out of prison; 28and he spokeH1696 kindly to him, and setH5414 his seatH3678 above the seatH3678 of the kingsH4428 that were with him in BabylonH894. 29And he changed his prison garmentsH899; and he ateH398 breadH3899 before him continuallyH8548 all the daysH3117 of his life; 30and his allowanceH737 was a continual allowanceH737 givenH5414 him by the kingH4428, every dayH3117 a portion, all the daysH3117 of his life.
