Samuel 30:1-18
And it cameH935 to pass, when DavidH1732 and his menH376 cameH935 to ZiklagH6860 on the thirdH7992 dayH3117, that the Amalekites had madeH6584 a raidH6584 upon the southH5045, and upon ZiklagH6860, and smitten ZiklagH6860 and burnedH8313 it with fireH784;
and had takenH7617 the womenH802 captivesH7617 that were in it; both greatH1419 and smallH6996: they had putH4191 none to deathH4191, but had carried them off, and went on their wayH1870.
And DavidH1732 and his menH376 cameH935 to the cityH5892, and behold, it was burnt with fireH784; and their wivesH802, and their sonsH1121, and their daughtersH1323 were takenH7617 captivesH7617.
Then DavidH1732 and the peopleH5971 that were with him liftedH5375 up their voiceH6963 and weptH1058, until they had no more powerH3581 to weepH1058.
And David's twoH8147 wivesH802 were takenH7617 captivesH7617, AhinoamH293 the Jizreelitess, and AbigailH26 the wifeH802 of NabalH5037 the CarmeliteH3761.
And DavidH1732 was greatly distressed; for the peopleH5971 spoke of stoningH5619 him; for the soulH5315 of all the peopleH5971 was embittered, every manH376 because of his sonsH1121 and because of his daughtersH1323; but DavidH1732 strengthenedH2388 himself in Jehovah his 1GodH430.
And DavidH1732 saidH559 to AbiatharH54 the priestH3548, Ahimelech's sonH1121, BringH5066 near to me, I pray thee, the ephodH646. And AbiatharH54 broughtH5066 the ephodH646 near to DavidH1732.
And DavidH1732 inquired of Jehovah, sayingH559, Shall I pursueH7291 after this troopH1416? shall I overtakeH5381 them? And he saidH559 to him, PursueH7291; for thou shalt assuredly overtakeH5381 [them] and shalt certainly recover.
So DavidH1732 wentH935, he and the sixH8337 hundredH3967 menH376 that were with him, and they cameH935 to the torrent BesorH1308; and those that were leftH3498 stayed behind.
And DavidH1732 pursuedH7291, he and fourH702 hundredH3967 menH376; for twoH3967 hundredH3967 stayed behind, who were too exhaustedH6296 to go over the torrent BesorH1308.
And they foundH4672 an EgyptianH4713 in the fieldH7704, and brought him to DavidH1732, and gaveH5414 him breadH3899, and he ateH398; and they gaveH5414 him waterH4325 to drinkH8248,
and gaveH5414 him a piece of fig-cake and twoH8147 raisin-cakes, and he ateH398, and his spiritH7307 came again to him; for he had eatenH398 no breadH3899, nor drunkH8354 any waterH4325, for threeH7969 daysH3117 and threeH7969 nightsH3915.
And DavidH1732 saidH559 to him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he saidH559, I am a youngH5288 manH376 of EgyptH4713, servantH5650 of an AmalekiteH6003; and my masterH113 leftH5800 me, because threeH7969 daysH3117 ago I fell sickH2470.
We madeH6584 a raidH6584 against the southH5045 of the Cherethites, and against what [belongs] to JudahH3063, and against the southH5045 of CalebH3612; and we burnedH8313 ZiklagH6860 with fireH784.
And DavidH1732 saidH559 to him, Canst thou bringH3381 me downH3381 to this troopH1416? And he saidH559, SwearH7650 to me by 2GodH430, that thou wilt neither putH4191 me to deathH4191 nor deliverH5462 me up into the handH3027 of my masterH113, and I will bringH3381 thee downH3381 to this troopH1416.
And he brought him downH3381, and behold, they were spreadH5203 over the whole landH776, eatingH398 and drinkingH8354, and dancing, because of all the greatH1419 spoilH7998 that they had takenH3947 out of the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430, and out of the landH776 of JudahH3063.
And DavidH1732 smote them from the twilight even to the eveningH6153 of the nextH4283 dayH4283; and there escapedH4422 not a manH376 of them, saveH4422 fourH702 hundredH3967 youngH5288 menH376, who rodeH7392 upon camelsH1581, and fledH5127.
And DavidH1732 recovered all that the Amalekites had takenH3947: and DavidH1732 recovered his twoH8147 wivesH802.
