1And SamuelH8050 saidH559 to all IsraelH3478, Behold, I have hearkened to your voiceH6963 in all that ye saidH559 to me, and have made a kingH4428 over you. 2And nowH6258 behold, the kingH4428 walksH1980 before you; and I am old and grey-headed; and behold, my sonsH1121 are with you; and I have walkedH1980 before you from my youthH5271 up to this dayH3117. 3HereH2005 I am: testifyH6030 against me before Jehovah, and before his anointedH4899. Whose oxH7794 have I takenH3947? or whose ass have I takenH3947? or whom have I defraudedH6231? whom have I injured? or of whose handH3027 have I receivedH3947 any ransomH3724 and blinded mine eyesH5869 therewith? and I will restoreH7725 it to you. 4And they saidH559, Thou hast not defraudedH6231 us, and thou hast not injured us, neither hast thou takenH3947 aught of any man's handH3027. 5And he saidH559 to them, Jehovah is witnessH5707 against you, and his anointedH4899 is witnessH5707 this dayH3117, that ye have not foundH4672 aught in my handH3027! And [the people] saidH559, [He is] witnessH5707! 6And SamuelH8050 saidH559 to the peopleH5971, [It is] Jehovah who appointed MosesH4872 and AaronH175, and who broughtH5927 your fathersH1 up out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 7And nowH6258 standH3320 still, that I may plead with you before Jehovah of all the righteous actsH6213 of Jehovah which he did to you and to your fathersH1. 8WhenH834 JacobH3290 had comeH935 into EgyptH4714, and your fathersH1 criedH2199 to Jehovah, then Jehovah sentH7971 MosesH4872 and AaronH175, and they broughtH935 your fathersH1 forthH3318 out of EgyptH4714, and made them dwellH3427 in this placeH4725. 9And they forgotH7911 Jehovah their 1GodH430, and he soldH4376 them into the handH3027 of SiseraH5516, captain of the hostH6635 of HazorH2674, and into the handH3027 of the PhilistinesH6430, and into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of MoabH4124, and they foughtH3898 against them. 10And they criedH2199 to Jehovah and saidH559, We have sinnedH2398, because we have forsaken Jehovah, and have servedH5647 the BaalsH1168 and the Ashtoreths; and nowH6258 deliverH5337 us out of the handH3027 of our enemiesH341, and we will serveH5647 thee. 11And Jehovah sentH7971 JerubbaalH3378 and BedanH917 and JephthahH3316 and SamuelH8050, and deliveredH5337 you out of the handH3027 of your enemiesH341 roundH5439 about, so that ye dweltH3427 in safety. 12But when ye sawH7200 that NahashH5176 the kingH4428 of the children of AmmonH5983 cameH935 against you, ye saidH559 to me, Nay, but a kingH4428 shall reignH4427 over us; when Jehovah your 2GodH430 was your kingH4428. 13And nowH6258 behold, the kingH4428 whom ye have chosenH977, whom ye have askedH7592 for! and behold, Jehovah has setH5414 a kingH4428 over you. 14If ye fearH3372 Jehovah, and serveH5647 him, and hearken to his voiceH6963, and rebelH4784 not against the commandment of Jehovah, then both ye and the kingH4428 alsoH1571 that reignsH4427 over you shall continue following Jehovah your 3GodH430. 15But if ye will not hearken to the voiceH6963 of Jehovah, and if ye rebelH4784 against the commandment of Jehovah, then will the handH3027 of Jehovah beH1961 against you, as against your fathersH1. 16NowH6258 thereforeH6258 standH3320 and seeH7200 this greatH1419 thingH1697 which Jehovah will do before your eyesH5869. 17Is it not wheat-harvest to-day? I will callH7121 unto Jehovah, and he will send thunderH6963 and rainH4306; and ye shall perceive and seeH7200 that your wickednessH7451 is greatH7227 which ye have done in the sight of Jehovah in askingH7592 for yourselves a kingH4428. 18And SamuelH8050 calledH7121 to Jehovah; and Jehovah sent thunderH6963 and rainH4306 that dayH3117. And all the peopleH5971 greatly fearedH3372 Jehovah and SamuelH8050. 19And all the peopleH5971 saidH559 to SamuelH8050, PrayH6419 to Jehovah thy 4GodH430 for thy servantsH5650, that we dieH4191 not; for we have addedH3254 to all our sinsH2403 the wickednessH7451 to askH7592 for ourselves a kingH4428. 20And SamuelH8050 saidH559 to the peopleH5971, FearH3372 not: ye have done all this wickednessH7451; yet turnH5493 not asideH5493 from following Jehovah, and serveH5647 Jehovah with all your heartH3824; 21and turnH5493 ye not asideH5493; for [it would be] after vain things which cannot profitH3276 nor deliverH5337; for they are vain. 22For Jehovah will not cast away his peopleH5971 for his greatH1419 name's sakeH5668; because it has pleased Jehovah to makeH6213 you his peopleH5971. 23Moreover, as for me, farH2486 be it from me that I should sinH2398 against Jehovah in ceasingH2308 to prayH6419 for you; and I will teachH3384 you the goodH2896 and rightH3477 wayH1870. 24OnlyH389, fearH3372 Jehovah, and serveH5647 him in truthH571, with all your heartH3824; for seeH7200 how greatH1431 things he has done for you. 25But if ye do wickedly, ye shall perish, both ye and your kingH4428.
