1Then SamuelH8050 tookH3947 the vial of oilH8081, and pouredH3332 it upon his headH7218, and kissedH5401 him, and saidH559, Is it not because Jehovah has anointedH4886 thee princeH5057 over his inheritanceH5159? 2When thou goest from me to-day, thou shalt meet twoH8147 menH376 by Rachel's sepulchre in the borderH1366 of BenjaminH1144 at Zelzah; and they will sayH559 to thee, The asses are foundH4672 which thou wentest to seekH1245, and behold, thy fatherH1 has dismissed the matterH1697 of the asses, and is anxiousH1672 about you, sayingH559, What shall I do for my sonH1121? 3And thou shalt goH935 on forward from thence, and shalt comeH935 to the oak of TaborH8396, and there shall meet thee threeH7969 menH376 goingH935 up to 1GodH430, to Bethel, oneH259 carryingH5375 threeH7969 kids, and another carryingH5375 threeH7969 cakes of breadH3899, and another carryingH5375 a flask of wineH3196. 4And they will askH7592 after thy welfareH7965, and giveH5414 thee twoH8147 loaves, which thou shalt receiveH3947 of their handsH3027. 5After that thou shalt comeH935 to the hillH1389 of 2GodH430, whereH834 are the outposts of the PhilistinesH6430; and it shall comeH935 to pass, when thou comest thither, into the cityH5892, that thou shalt meet a company of prophetsH5030 comingH935 downH3381 from the highH1116 placeH1116 with lute and tambour and pipe and harpH3658 before them; and they themselves prophesyingH5012. 6And the SpiritH7307 of Jehovah will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesyH5012 with them, and shalt be turnedH2015 into another manH376. 7And it shall beH1961, when these signsH226 shall comeH935 to thee, thou shalt do as thy handH3027 shall findH4672; for 3GodH430 is with thee. 8And thou shalt goH935 down before me to GilgalH1537; and behold, I will comeH935 down to thee, to offerH5927 up burnt-offerings, [and] to sacrificeH2077 sacrificesH2077 of peace-offerings: sevenH7651 daysH3117 shalt thou waitH3176, until I comeH935 to thee and inform thee what thou shalt do. 9And it wasH1961 [so] that when he turnedH6437 his backH6437 to goH935 awayH6437 from SamuelH8050, 4GodH430 gave him another heartH3820; and all those signsH226 cameH935 to pass that dayH3117. 10And when they cameH935 thither to the hillH1389, behold, a company of prophetsH5030 metH7122 him; and the SpiritH7307 of 5GodH430 cameH935 upon him, and he prophesiedH5012 among them. 11And it came to pass, when all that knewH3045 him before sawH7200 that, behold, he prophesiedH5012 among the prophetsH5030, then the peopleH5971 saidH559 oneH376 to another, What is this that has happened to the sonH1121 of KishH7027? Is SaulH7586 alsoH1571 among the prophetsH5030? 12And a manH376 of that place answered and saidH559, But who is their fatherH1? ThereforeH3651 it becameH1961 a proverbH4912, Is SaulH7586 alsoH1571 among the prophetsH5030? 13And when he had endedH3615 prophesyingH5012, he cameH935 to the highH1116 placeH1116. 14And Saul's uncleH1730 saidH559 to him and to his servantH5288, Whither wentH1980 ye? And he saidH559, To seekH1245 the asses; and when we sawH7200 that they were nowhere, we wentH1980 to SamuelH8050. 15And Saul's uncleH1730 saidH559, TellH5046 me, I pray thee, what SamuelH8050 saidH559 to you. 16And SaulH7586 saidH559 to his uncleH1730, He toldH5046 us for certain that the asses were foundH4672. But of the matterH1697 of the kingdom, of which SamuelH8050 had spoken, he toldH5046 him not. 17And SamuelH8050 called the peopleH5971 together to Jehovah to MizpahH4709. 18And he saidH559 to the children of IsraelH3478, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, the 6GodH430 of IsraelH3478, I broughtH5927 up IsraelH3478 out of EgyptH4714, and deliveredH5337 you out of the handH3027 of the Egyptians, and out of the handH3027 of all the kingdomsH4467 that oppressedH3905 you; 19but ye have this dayH3117 rejectedH3988 your 7GodH430, who himself savedH3467 you out of all your adversities and your troubles, and have saidH559 unto him, [Nay,] but a kingH4428 shalt thou setH7760 over us. NowH6258 thereforeH6258 presentH3320 yourselves before Jehovah by your tribesH7626, and by your thousandsH505. 20And SamuelH8050 caused all the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478 to come near, and the tribeH7626 of BenjaminH1144 was takenH3920. 21And he caused the tribeH7626 of BenjaminH1144 to come near by their familiesH4940, and the familyH4940 of Matri was takenH3920; and SaulH7586 the sonH1121 of KishH7027 was takenH3920. And they soughtH1245 him, but he was not to be foundH4672. 22Therefore they inquired of Jehovah further, Will the manH376 yetH5750 comeH935 hither? And Jehovah answered, Behold, he hath hidH2244 himself among the baggage. 23And they ranH7323 and fetched him thence; and when he stoodH3320 among the peopleH5971, he was higher than any of the peopleH5971 from his shouldersH7926 and upwardH4605. 24And SamuelH8050 saidH559 to all the peopleH5971, SeeH7200 ye him whom Jehovah has chosenH977, that there is none like him among all the peopleH5971? And all the peopleH5971 shoutedH7321 and saidH559, May the kingH4428 liveH2421. 25And SamuelH8050 told the peopleH5971 the rightH4941 of the kingdom, and wroteH3789 it in the bookH5612, and laid it before Jehovah. And SamuelH8050 sentH7971 all the peopleH5971 awayH7971, every manH376 to his houseH1004. 26And SaulH7586 alsoH1571 wentH1980 home to GibeahH1390; and with him wentH1980 the band, whose heartsH3820 8GodH430 had touchedH5060. 27But the children of Belial saidH559, HowH4100 should this man saveH3467 us? And they despisedH959 him, and broughtH935 him no giftsH4503. But he wasH1961 as oneH2088 deaf.
