Darby Bible
Samuel 1:3-9
And this manH376 wentH5927 up out of his cityH5892 from year to year to worship and to sacrificeH2076 to Jehovah of hostsH6635 in ShilohH7887. And the twoH8147 sonsH1121 of EliH5941, HophniH2652 and PhinehasH6372, the priestsH3548 of Jehovah, were there.
And it came to pass on the dayH3117 that ElkanahH511 sacrificedH2076, he gaveH5414 to PeninnahH6444 his wifeH802 and to all her sonsH1121 and her daughtersH1323 portionsH4490;
but to HannahH2584 he used to giveH5414 a double portionH4490, for he lovedH157 HannahH2584; but Jehovah had shutH5462 up her wombH7358.
And her adversary provokedH3707 her much alsoH1571, to make her fret, because Jehovah had shutH5462 up her wombH7358.
And [as] he did soH3651 yearH8141 by yearH8141, as oftenH1767 as she wentH5927 up to the houseH1004 of Jehovah, she provokedH3707 her thusH3651; and she weptH1058 and did not eatH398.
And ElkanahH511 her husbandH376 saidH559 to her, HannahH2584, whyH4100 weepest thou? and whyH4100 eatest thou not? and whyH4100 is thy heartH3824 grieved? Am not I betterH2896 to thee than tenH6235 sonsH1121?
And HannahH2584 roseH6965 up after they had eatenH398 in ShilohH7887, and after they had drunkH8354; (now EliH5941 the priestH3548 satH3427 upon the seatH3678 by the door-post of the templeH1964 of Jehovah;)
