34They did notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808destroyהִ֭שְׁמִידוּHish.mi.duH8045אֶת־'et-H853the peoplesהָֽעַמִּ֑יםha.'a.MimH5971asאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068had commandedאָמַ֖ר'a.MarH559them,

35but they mingledוַיִּתְעָרְב֥וּvai.yit.'a.re.VuH6148with the nationsבַגּוֹיִ֑םva.go.YimH1471and adoptedוַֽ֝יִּלְמְד֗וּvai.yil.me.DuH3925their customsמַֽעֲשֵׂיהֶֽם׃Ma.'a.sei.HemH4639.

36They worshipedוַיַּעַבְד֥וּvai.ya.'av.DuH5647אֶת־'et-H853their idolsעֲצַבֵּיהֶ֑ם'a.tza.bei.HemH6091,which becameוַיִּהְי֖וּvai.yih.YuH1961a snare to themלְמוֹקֵֽשׁ׃le.mo.KeshH4170.

37They sacrificedוַיִּזְבְּח֣וּvai.yiz.be.ChuH2076אֶת־'et-H853their sonsבְּ֭נֵיהֶםBe.nei.hemH1121andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853their daughtersבְּנֽוֹתֵיהֶ֗םbe.no.tei.HemH1323to demonsלַשֵּֽׁדִים׃la.She.dimH7700.

38They shedוַיִּֽשְׁפְּכ֨וּvai.yish.pe.KhuH8210innocentנָקִ֡יna.KiH5355bloodדָ֪םdamH1818—the bloodדַּם־dam-H1818of their sonsבְּנֵ֘יהֶ֤םbe.Nei.HemH1121and daughtersוּֽבְנוֹתֵיהֶ֗םu.ve.no.tei.HemH1323,whomאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834they sacrificedזִ֭בְּחוּZi.be.chuH2076to the idolsלַעֲצַבֵּ֣יla.'a.tza.BeiH6091of Canaanכְנָ֑עַןkhe.Na.'anH3667,and the landהָ֝אָ֗רֶץha.'A.retzH776was pollutedוַתֶּחֱנַ֥ףva.te.che.NafH2610with bloodבַּדָּמִֽים׃ba.da.MimH1818.

39They defiled themselvesוַיִּטְמְא֥וּvai.yit.me.'UH2930by their actionsבְמַעֲשֵׂיהֶ֑םve.ma.'a.sei.HemH4639and prostituted themselvesוַ֝יִּזְנוּ֗vai.yiZ.nuH2181by their deedsבְּמַֽעַלְלֵיהֶֽם׃be.Ma.'a.lei.HemH4611.

40So the angerאַ֣ף'afH639of the LORDיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068burnedוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734against His peopleבְּעַמּ֑וֹbe.'a.MoH5971,and He abhorredוַ֝יְתָעֵ֗בvay.ta.'EvH8581אֶת־'et-H853His own inheritanceנַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃na.cha.la.ToH5159.

41He delivered themוַיִּתְּנֵ֥םvai.yi.te.NemH5414into the handבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of the nationsגּוֹיִ֑םgo.YimH1471,and those who hated themשֹׂנְאֵיהֶֽם׃so.ne.'ei.HemH8130ruledוַֽיִּמְשְׁל֥וּvai.yim.she.LuH4910over them.

42Their enemiesאוֹיְבֵיהֶ֑ם'oy.vei.HemH341oppressed themוַיִּלְחָצ֥וּםvai.yil.cha.TzumH3905and subdued themוַ֝יִּכָּנְע֗וּvai.yi.ka.ne.'UH3665underתַּ֣חַתTa.chatH8478their handיָדָֽם׃ya.DamH3027.

43Manyרַבּ֗וֹתra.BotH7227timesפְּעָמִ֥יםpe.'a.MimH6471He rescued themיַצִּ֫ילֵ֥םya.Tzi.LemH5337,but theyוְ֭הֵמָּהVe.he.mahH1992were bentיַמְר֣וּyam.RuH4784on rebellionבַעֲצָתָ֑םva.'a.tza.TamH6098and sank downוַ֝יָּמֹ֗כּוּvai.ya.Mo.kuH4355in their iniquityבַּעֲוֹנָֽם׃ba.'a.vo.NamH5771.

44Nevertheless He heardבְּ֝שָׁמְע֗וֹbe.sha.me.'OH8085אֶת־'et-H853their cryרִנָּתָֽם׃ri.na.TamH7440;He took noteוַ֭יַּרְאVai.yar'H7200of their distressבַּצַּ֣רba.TzarH6862.

45And He rememberedוַיִּזְכֹּ֣רvai.yiz.KorH2142His covenantבְּרִית֑וֹbe.ri.ToH1285with them,and relentedוַ֝יִּנָּחֵ֗םvai.yi.na.ChemH5162by the abundanceכְּרֹ֣בke.RoH7230of His loving devotionחֲסָדָֽיו׃cha.sa.DavH2617.

46He madeוַיִּתֵּ֣ןvai.yi.TenH5414themאוֹתָ֣ם'o.TamH853objects of compassionלְרַחֲמִ֑יםle.ra.cha.MimH7356toלִ֝פְנֵ֗יlif.NeiH6440allכָּל־kol-H3605who held them captiveשׁוֹבֵיהֶֽם׃shoei.HemH7617.
