1This isthe visionחֲז֖וֹןcha.ZonH2377of Obadiahעֹֽבַדְיָ֑ה'oad.YahH5662:This is whatכֹּֽה־koh-H3541the Lordאֲדֹנָ֨י'a.do.NaiH136GODיְהוִ֜הYah.wehH3069saysאָמַר֩'a.MarH559about Edomלֶאֱד֗וֹםle.'e.DomH123—We have heardשָׁמַ֜עְנוּ מֵאֵ֤תsha.Ma'.nu me.'EtH8085 H854a messageשְׁמוּעָ֨הshe.mu.'AhH8052from the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068;an envoyוְצִיר֙ve.TzirH6735has been sentשֻׁלָּ֔חshu.LachH7971among the nationsבַּגּוֹיִ֣םba.go.YimH1471to say, “Rise upק֛וּמוּKu.muH6965,and let us goוְנָק֥וּמָהve.na.Ku.mahH6965to battleלַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃la.mil.cha.MahH4421against herעָלֶיהָ'a.Lei.haH5921!”—

2“Beholdהִנֵּ֥הhi.NehH2009,I will make youנְתַתִּ֖יךָne.ta.Ti.khaH5414smallקָטֹ֛ןka.TonH6996among the nationsבַּגּוֹיִ֑םba.go.YimH1471;youאַתָּ֖ה'a.TahH859will be deeplyמְאֹֽד׃me.'OdH3966despisedבָּז֥וּיba.ZuiH959.

3The prideזְד֤וֹןze.DonH2087of your heartלִבְּךָ֙li.be.KhaH3820has deceived youהִשִּׁיאֶ֔ךָhi.shi.'E.khaH5377,O dwellersשֹׁכְנִ֥יsho.khe.NiH7931in the cleftsבְחַגְוֵי־ve.chag.vei-H2288of the rocksסֶּ֖לַעSe.la'H5553whose habitation isשִׁבְתּ֑וֹshiv.ToH7675the heightsמְר֣וֹםme.RomH4791,who sayאֹמֵ֣ר'o.MerH559in your heartבְּלִבּ֔וֹbe.li.BoH3820, ‘Whoמִ֥יmiH4310can bring me downיוֹרִדֵ֖נִיyo.ri.De.niH3381to the groundאָֽרֶץ׃'A.retzH776?’

4Thoughאִם־'im-H518you soarתַּגְבִּ֣יהַּtag.Bi.ahH1361like the eagleכַּנֶּ֔שֶׁר וְאִם־ka.Ne.sher ve.'im-H5404 H518and makeשִׂ֣יםsimH7760your nestקִנֶּ֑ךָki.Ne.chaH7064amongבֵּ֥יןbeinH996the starsכּֽוֹכָבִ֖יםko.kha.VimH3556,even from thereמִשָּׁ֥םmi.ShamH8033I will bring you downאוֹרִֽידְךָ֖'o.ri.de.KhaH3381,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

5“Ifאִם־'im-H518thievesגַּנָּבִ֤יםga.na.VimH1590cameבָּאֽוּ־ba.'u-H935to you,ifאִם־'im-H518robbersשׁ֣וֹדְדֵיSho.deiH7703by nightלַ֔יְלָהLay.lahH3915—oh, howאֵ֣יךְ'eikhH349you will be ruinedנִדְמֵ֔יתָהnid.Mei.tahH1820—would they notהֲל֥וֹאha.Lo'H3808stealיִגְנְב֖וּyig.ne.VuH1589onlywhat they wantedדַּיָּ֑םdai.YamH1767?Ifאִם־'im-H518grape gatherersבֹּֽצְרִים֙bo.tze.RimH1219cameבָּ֣אוּBa.'uH935to you,would they notהֲל֖וֹאha.Lo'H3808leaveיַשְׁאִ֥ירוּyash.'I.ruH7604somegleaningsעֹלֵלֽוֹת׃o.le.LotH5955?

6But howאֵ֚יךְ'eikhH349Esauעֵשָׂ֔ו'e.SavH6215will be pillagedנֶחְפְּשׂ֣וּnech.pe.SuH2664,his hidden treasuresמַצְפֻּנָֽיו׃matz.pu.NavH4710sought outנִבְע֖וּniv.'UH1158!

7Allכֹּ֚לkolH3605the menאַנְשֵׁ֣י'an.SheiH582allied with youבְרִיתֶ֔ךָve.ri.Te.khaH1285will driveשִׁלְּח֗וּךָshi.le.Chu.khaH7971you toעַֽד־'ad-H5704the borderהַגְּב֣וּלha.ge.VulH1366;the menאַנְשֵׁ֣י'an.SheiH582at peace with youשְׁלֹמֶ֑ךָshe.lo.Me.khaH7965will deceiveהִשִּׁיא֛וּךָhi.shi.'U.khaH5377and overpowerיָכְל֥וּya.khe.LuH3201you. Those who eatyour breadלַחְמְךָ֗lach.me.KhaH3899will setיָשִׂ֤ימוּya.Si.muH7760a trapמָזוֹר֙ma.zOrH4204for youתַּחְתֶּ֔יךָtach.Tei.khaH8478without yourאֵ֥ין'einH369awarenessתְּבוּנָ֖הte.vu.NahH8394of it.

8In thatהַה֖וּאha.Hu'H1931dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117,declaresנְאֻםne.'um-H5002the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,will I notהֲל֛וֹאha.Lo'H3808destroyוְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֤יve.ha.'a.vad.TiH6the wiseחֲכָמִים֙cha.kha.MimH2450menof Edomמֵֽאֱד֔וֹםme.'e.DomH123and the men of understandingוּתְבוּנָ֖הu.te.vu.NahH8394in the mountainsמֵהַ֥רme.HarH2022of Esauעֵשָֽׂו׃'e.SavH6215?

9Then your mighty menגִבּוֹרֶ֖יךָgi.bo.Rei.khaH1368,O Temanתֵּימָ֑ןtei.ManH8487,will be terrifiedוְחַתּ֥וּve.cha.TuH2865,so thatלְמַ֧עַןle.Ma.'anH4616everyoneאִ֛ישׁ'ishH376in the mountainsמֵהַ֥רme.HarH2022of Esauעֵשָׂ֖ו'e.SavH6215will be cut downיִכָּֽרֶת־yi.ka.ret-H3772in the slaughterמִקָּֽטֶל׃mi.Ka.telH6993.

10Because of the violenceמֵחֲמַ֛סme.cha.MasH2555against your brotherאָחִ֥יךָ'a.Chi.khaH251Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290,you will be coveredתְּכַסְּךָ֣te.kha.se.KhaH3680with shameבוּשָׁ֑הvu.ShahH955and cut offוְנִכְרַ֖תָּve.nikh.Ra.taH3772foreverלְעוֹלָֽם׃le.'o.LamH5769.

11On the dayבְּיוֹם֙be.yOmH3117you stoodעֲמָֽדְךָ֣'a.ma.de.KhaH5975aloofמִנֶּ֔גֶדmi.Ne.gedH5048whileבְּי֛וֹםbe.YomH3117strangersזָרִ֖יםza.RimH2114carried offשְׁב֥וֹתshe.VotH7617his wealthחֵיל֑וֹchei.LoH2428and foreignersוְנָכְרִ֞יםve.na.khe.RimH5237enteredבָּ֣אוּBa.'uH935his gateשְׁעָרָ֗יוsha.'a.rovH8179and castיַדּ֣וּya.DuH3032lotsגוֹרָ֔ל גַּם־go.Ral gam-H1486 H1571forוְעַל־ve.'al-H5921Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ye.ru.sha.LimH3389,youאַתָּ֖ה'a.TahH859were just like oneכְּאַחַ֥דke.'a.ChadH259of them.

12But you should notוְאַל־ve.'al-H408gloatתֵּ֤רֶאTe.re'H7200in that dayבְיוֹם־ve.yom-H3117,your brother’sאָחִ֙יךָ֙'a.Chi.khaH251dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117of misfortuneנָכְר֔וֹna.khe.RoH5235,norוְאַל־ve.'al-H408rejoiceתִּשְׂמַ֥חtis.MachH8055over the peopleלִבְנֵֽי־liv.nei-H1121of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063in the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117of their destructionאָבְדָ֑ם'a.ve.DamH6,norוְאַל־ve.'al-H408boast proudlyתַּגְדֵּ֥ל פִּ֖יךָtag.Del Pi.khaH1431 H6310in the dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117of their distressצָרָֽה׃tza.RahH6869.

13You should notאַל־'al-H408enterתָּב֤וֹאta.Vo'H935the gateבְשַֽׁעַר־ve.sha.'ar-H8179of My peopleעַמִּי֙'a.MiH5971in the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117of their disasterאֵידָ֔ם'ei.DamH343,norאַל־'al-H408gloatתֵּ֧רֶאTe.re'H7200overגַם־gam-H1571אַתָּ֛ה'a.TahH859their afflictionבְּרָעָת֖וֹbe.ra.'a.ToH7451in the dayבְּי֣וֹםbe.YomH3117of their disasterאֵיד֑וֹ'ei.DoH343,norוְאַל־ve.'al-H408lootתִּשְׁלַ֥חְנָהtish.Lach.nahH7971their wealthבְחֵיל֖וֹve.chei.LoH2428in the dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117of their disasterאֵידֽוֹ׃'ei.DoH343.

14Nor should youוְאַֽל־ve.'al-H408standתַּעֲמֹד֙ta.'a.ModH5975atעַל־'al-H5921the crossroadsהַפֶּ֔רֶקha.Pe.rekH6563to cut offלְהַכְרִ֖יתle.hakh.RitH3772אֶת־'et-H853their fugitivesפְּלִיטָ֑יוpe.li.TavH6412,norוְאַל־ve.'al-H408deliver upתַּסְגֵּ֥רtas.GerH5462their survivorsשְׂרִידָ֖יוse.ri.DavH8300in the dayבְּי֥וֹםbe.YomH3117of their distressצָרָֽה׃tza.RahH6869.

15Forכִּֽי־ki-H3588the Dayיוֹם־yom-H3117of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068is nearקָר֥וֹבka.RovH7138forעַל־'al-H5921allכָּל־kol-H3605the nationsהַגּוֹיִ֑םha.go.YimH1471.Asכַּאֲשֶׁ֤רka.'a.SherH834you have doneעָשִׂ֙יתָ֙'a.Si.taH6213,it will be doneיֵעָ֣שֶׂהye.'A.sehH6213to you;your recompenseגְּמֻלְךָ֖ge.mul.KhaH1576will returnיָשׁ֥וּבya.ShuvH7725upon your own headבְּרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃be.ro.She.khaH7218.

16Forכִּ֗יKiH3588asכַּֽאֲשֶׁ֤רka.'a.SherH834you drankשְׁתִיתֶם֙she.ti.TemH8354onעַל־'al-H5921My holyקָדְשִׁ֔יkod.shiH6944mountainהַ֣רharH2022,so allכָֽל־khol-H3605the nationsהַגּוֹיִ֖םha.go.YimH1471will drinkיִשְׁתּ֥וּyish.TuH8354continuallyתָּמִ֑ידta.MidH8548.They will drinkוְשָׁת֣וּve.sha.TuH8354and gulp it downוְלָע֔וּve.la.'UH3886;they will beוְהָי֖וּve.ha.YuH1961as if they had neverכְּל֥וֹאke.Lo'H3808existedהָיֽוּ׃ha.YuH1961.

17But on Mountוּבְהַ֥רu.ve.HarH2022Zionצִיּ֛וֹןtzi.YonH6726there will beתִּהְיֶ֥הtih.YehH1961deliveranceפְלֵיטָ֖הfe.lei.TahH6413,and it will beוְהָ֣יָהve.Ha.yahH1961holyקֹ֑דֶשׁKo.deshH6944,and the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Jacobיַֽעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290אֵ֖ת'etH853will reclaimוְיָֽרְשׁוּ֙ve.ya.re.ShuH3423their possessionמוֹרָֽשֵׁיהֶם׃mo.Ra.shei.hemH4180.

18Then the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of Jacobיַעֲקֹ֨בya.'a.KoH3290will beוְהָיָה֩ve.ha.YahH1961a blazing fireאֵ֜שׁ'eshH784,and the houseוּבֵ֧יתu.VeitH1004of Josephיוֹסֵ֣ףyo.SefH3130a burning flameלֶהָבָ֗הle.ha.VahH3852;but the houseוּבֵ֤יתu.VeitH1004of Esauעֵשָׂו֙'e.SavH6215will be stubbleלְקַ֔שׁle.KashH7179—Jacob will set it ablazeוְדָלְק֥וּve.dal.KuH1814and consume itוַאֲכָל֑וּםva.'a.kha.LumH398.Therefore noוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808survivorשָׂרִיד֙sa.RidH8300will remainיִֽהְיֶ֤הyih.YehH1961from the houseלְבֵ֣יתle.VeitH1004of Esauעֵשָׂ֔ו'e.SavH6215.”Forכִּ֥יkiH3588the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068has spokenדִּבֵּֽר׃di.BerH1696.

19Those from the Negevהַנֶּ֜גֶבha.Ne.gevH5045אֶת־'et-H853will possessוְיָרְשׁ֨וּve.ya.re.ShuH3423the mountainsהַ֣רharH2022of Esauעֵשָׂ֗ו'e.SavH6215;those from the foothillsוְהַשְּׁפֵלָה֙ve.ha.she.fe.LahH8219אֶת־'et-H853will possess the landof the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430.They will occupyוְיָרְשׁוּ֙ve.ya.re.ShuH3423אֶת־'et-H853the fieldsשְׂדֵ֣הse.DehH7704of Ephraimאֶפְרַ֔יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669וְאֵ֖תve.'EtH853שְׂדֵ֣הse.DehH7704and Samariaשֹׁמְר֑וֹןsho.me.RonH8111,and Benjaminוּבִנְיָמִ֖ןu.vin.ya.MinH1144will possessאֶת־'et-H853Gileadהַגִּלְעָֽד׃ha.gil.'AdH1568.
