Jeremiah 2:9-19
9Wherefore I will yetH5750 contendH7378 with you, saith Jehovah, and with your children’s children will I contendH7378. 10For passH5674 over to the isles of KittimH3794, and seeH7200; and sendH7971 unto KedarH6938, and considerH7200 diligently; and seeH7200 if there hath beenH1961 such a thing. 11Hath a nationH1471 changed its godsH430, which yet are no godsH430? but my peopleH5971 have changed their gloryH3519 for that which doth not profitH3276. 12Be astonished, O ye heavensH8064, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye veryH3966 desolateH8074, saith Jehovah. 13For my peopleH5971 have committed twoH8147 evils: they have forsaken me, the fountainH4726 of living watersH4325, and hewed them out cisternsH877, brokenH7665 cisternsH877, that can holdH3557 no waterH4325.
14Is IsraelH3478 a servantH5650? is he a home-born slaveH5650? whyH4069 is he becomeH1961 a preyH957? 15The youngH3715 lionsH3715 have roaredH7580 upon him, and yelled; and they have madeH5414 his landH776 wasteH8047: his citiesH5892 are burnedH3341 up, without inhabitantH3427. 16The children alsoH1571 of MemphisH5297 and TahpanhesH8471 have broken the crown of thy head. 17Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken Jehovah thy GodH430, when he led thee by the wayH1870? 18And nowH6258 what hast thou to do in the wayH1870 to EgyptH4714, to drinkH8354 the watersH4325 of the ShihorH7883? or what hast thou to do in the wayH1870 to AssyriaH804, to drinkH8354 the watersH4325 of the RiverH5104? 19Thine own wickednessH7451 shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reproveH3198 thee: knowH3045 therefore and seeH7200 that it is an evilH7451 thing and a bitterH4751, that thou hast forsaken Jehovah thy GodH430, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hostsH6635.
