Jeremiah 17
1“The sinH2403 of JudahH3063 is writtenH3789 with an ironH1270 stylusH5842, engravedH2790 with a diamondH8068 pointH6856 onH5921 the tabletsH3871 of their heartsH3820 and on the hornsH7161 of their altarsH4196.2Even their childrenH1121 rememberH2142 their altarsH4196 and Asherah polesH842 byH5921 the greenH7488 treesH6086 and onH5921 the highH1364 hillsH1389.3O My mountainH2042 in the countrysideH7704, I will give overH5414 your wealthH2428 and allH3605 your treasuresH214 as plunderH957, because of the sinH2403 of your high placesH1116, within allH3605 your bordersH1366.4And you yourself will relinquishH8058 the inheritanceH5159 thatH834 I gaveH5414 you. I will enslave youH5647 to your enemiesH341 in a landH776 thatH834 you do notH3808 knowH3045, forH3588 you have kindledH784H6919 My angerH639; it will burnH3344 foreverH5704H5769.”
5This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559:
Jeremiah’s Prayer for Deliverance
11Like a partridgeH7124 hatching eggsH1716 it did notH3808 layH3205 is the man who makesH6213 a fortuneH6239 unjustlyH3808H4941. In the middleH2677 of his daysH3117 his riches will desert himH5800, and in the endH319 he will beH1961 the foolH5036.”
Restoring the Sabbath
(Nehemiah 13:15–22)
19This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saidH559 to meH413: “GoH1980 and standH5975 at the gateH8179 of the peopleH1121H5971, through whichH834 the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 go inH935 and outH3318; and stand at allH3605 the other gatesH8179 of JerusalemH3389.
20SayH559 to themH413, ‘HearH8085 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, O kingsH4428 of JudahH3063, allH3605 people of JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389 who enterH935 through theseH428 gatesH8179. 21This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559: Take heedH8104 for yourselvesH5315; do notH408 carryH5375 a loadH4853 or bring itH935 through the gatesH8179 of JerusalemH3389 on the SabbathH7676 dayH3117. 22You must notH3808 carry a loadH4853 outH3318 of your housesH1004 or doH6213 anyH3605 workH4399 on the SabbathH7676 dayH3117H3808, but you must keepH6942 the SabbathH7676 day holyH3117, just asH834 I commandedH6680 your forefathersH1. 23Yet they would notH3808 listenH8085H3808 or inclineH5186 their earH241, but they stiffenedH7185 their necksH6203 and would notH1115 listenH8085H1115 or receiveH3947 My disciplineH4148.
24IfH518, howeverH1961, you listen carefullyH8085 to MeH413, saysH5002 the LORDH3068, and bringH935 noH1115 loadH4853 through the gatesH8179 of thisH2063 cityH5892 on the SabbathH7676 dayH3117, and keepH6942 the SabbathH7676 day holyH3117, and doH6213 noH1115 workH4399 on it, 25then kingsH4428 and princesH8269 will enterH935 through the gatesH8179 of thisH2063 cityH5892. They will sitH3427 onH5921 the throneH3678 of DavidH1732, ridingH7392 in chariotsH7393 and on horsesH5483 with theirH1992 officialsH8269, along with the menH376 of JudahH3063 and the residentsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, and thisH2063 cityH5892 will be inhabitedH3427 foreverH5769. 26And people will comeH935 from the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 and the places aroundH5439 JerusalemH3389, from the landH776 of BenjaminH1144, and fromH4480 the foothillsH8219,3 the hill countryH2022, andH4480 the NegevH5045, bringingH935 burnt offeringsH5930 and sacrificesH2077, grain offeringsH4503 and frankincenseH3828H935, and thank offeringsH8426 to the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068.
27But ifH518 you do notH3808 listenH8085 to MeH413 to keepH6942 the SabbathH7676 day holyH3117 by notH1115 carryingH5375 a loadH4853 while enteringH935 the gatesH8179 of JerusalemH3389 on the SabbathH7676 dayH3117, then I will kindleH3341 an unquenchableH3808H3518 fireH784 in its gatesH8179 to consumeH398 the citadelsH759 of JerusalemH3389.’”
