Genesis 24:2-28
2And AbrahamH85 saidH559 unto his servantH5650, the elderH2205 of his houseH1004, that ruledH4910 over all that he had, PutH7760, I pray thee, thy handH3027 under my thighH3409: 3and I will make thee swearH7650 by Jehovah, the GodH430 of heavenH8064 and the GodH430 of the earthH776, that thou wilt not takeH3947 a wifeH802 for my sonH1121 of the daughtersH1323 of the CanaanitesH3669, among whom I dwellH3427: 4but thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindredH4138, and takeH3947 a wifeH802 for my sonH1121 IsaacH3327. 5And the servantH5650 saidH559 unto him, Peradventure the womanH802 will not be willingH14 to follow me unto this landH776: must I needs bringH3318 thy sonH1121 again unto the landH776 from whence thou camest? 6And AbrahamH85 saidH559 unto him, Beware thou that thou bringH7725 not my sonH1121 thither again. 7Jehovah, the GodH430 of heavenH8064, who tookH3947 me from my father’sH1 houseH1004, and from the landH776 of my nativity, and who spake unto me, and who sware unto me, sayingH559, Unto thy seedH2233 will I giveH5414 this landH776; he will sendH7971 his angelH4397 before thee, and thou shalt takeH3947 a wifeH802 for my sonH1121 from thence. 8And if the womanH802 be not willingH14 to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this my oathH7621; onlyH7535 thou shalt not bringH7725 my sonH1121 thither again. 9And the servantH5650 putH7760 his handH3027 under the thighH3409 of AbrahamH85 his masterH113, and sware to him concerning this matterH1697.
10And the servantH5650 tookH3947 tenH6235 camelsH1581, of the camelsH1581 of his masterH113, and departed, having all goodly things of his master’sH113 in his handH3027: and he aroseH6965, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the cityH5892 of NahorH5152. 11And he made the camelsH1581 to kneel down without the cityH5892 by the wellH875 of waterH4325 at the timeH6256 of eveningH6153, the timeH6256 that women goH3318 out to drawH7579 waterH4325. 12And he saidH559, O Jehovah, the GodH430 of my masterH113 AbrahamH85, send me, I pray thee, good speed this dayH3117, and show kindness unto my masterH113 AbrahamH85. 13Behold, I am standingH5324 by the fountain of waterH4325; and the daughtersH1323 of the menH376 of the cityH5892 are comingH3318 out to drawH7579 waterH4325: 14and let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall sayH559, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drinkH8354; and she shall sayH559, DrinkH8354, and I will giveH8248 thy camelsH1581 drinkH8354 alsoH1571: let the same beH1961 she that thou hast appointedH3198 for thy servantH5650 IsaacH3327; and thereby shall I knowH3045 that thou hast showed kindness unto my masterH113. 15And it came to pass, before he had done speakingH1696, that, behold, RebekahH7259 came out, who wasH1961 bornH3205 to BethuelH1328 the sonH1121 of MilcahH4435, the wifeH802 of NahorH5152, Abraham’s brotherH251, with her pitcher upon her shoulderH7926. 16And the damsel was veryH3966 fair to look upon, a virginH1330, neither had any manH376 knownH3045 her: and she wentH5927 downH3381 to the fountain, and filledH4390 her pitcher, and cameH5927 up. 17And the servantH5650 ranH7323 to meet her, and saidH559, Give me to drink, I pray thee, a littleH4592 waterH4325 from thy pitcher. 18And she saidH559, DrinkH8354, my lordH113: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her handH3027, and gave him drinkH8354. 19And when she had done givingH8248 him drinkH8354, she saidH559, I will drawH7579 for thy camelsH1581 alsoH1571, until they have done drinkingH8354. 20And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ranH7323 againH5750 unto the wellH875 to drawH7579, and drewH7579 for all his camelsH1581. 21And the manH376 looked stedfastly on her, holding his peace, to knowH3045 whether Jehovah had madeH3045 his journeyH1870 prosperous or not. 22And it came to pass, as the camelsH1581 had done drinkingH8354, that the manH376 tookH3947 a golden ringH5141 of half a shekel weightH4948, and twoH8147 braceletsH6781 for her handsH3027 of tenH6235 shekels weightH4948 of goldH2091, 23and saidH559, Whose daughterH1323 art thou? tellH5046 me, I pray thee. Is there room in thy father’sH1 houseH1004 for us to lodge in? 24And she saidH559 unto him, I am the daughterH1323 of BethuelH1328 the sonH1121 of MilcahH4435, whom she bare unto NahorH5152. 25She saidH559 moreover unto him, We have both strawH8401 and provender enough, and roomH4725 to lodge in. 26And the manH376 bowedH7812 his head, and worshipped Jehovah. 27And he saidH559, BlessedH1288 be Jehovah, the GodH430 of my masterH113 AbrahamH85, who hath not forsaken his lovingkindness and his truthH571 toward my masterH113: as for me, Jehovah hath ledH5148 me in the wayH1870 to the houseH1004 of my master’sH113 brethren.
28And the damsel ranH7323, and toldH5046 her mother’sH517 houseH1004 according to these wordsH1697.
