Genesis 24:2-28
2AbrahamH85 saidH559 to his servantH5650, the oldestH2205 of his householdH1004 who wasH4910 inH4910 1chargeH4910 of allH3605 that he owned, “2PleaseH4994 placeH7760 your handH3027 underH8478 my thighH3409, 3and I will make you swearH7650 by the LordH3068, 3the GodH430 of heavenH8064 and the GodH430 of earthH776, that you 4shall not takeH3947 a wifeH802 for my sonH1121 from the daughtersH1323 of 5the CanaanitesH3669, amongH7130 whomH834 I liveH3427; 4but you will goH1980 to 6my countryH776 and to my relativesH4138, and takeH3947 a wifeH802 for my sonH1121 IsaacH3327.” 5The servantH5650 saidH559 to him, “SupposeH194 the womanH802 isH14 not willingH14 to followH1980H310 me to thisH2088 landH776; should I takeH7725 your sonH1121 backH7725 to the landH776 from whereH834H8033 you cameH3318?” 6Then AbrahamH85 saidH559 to him, “7BewareH8104 that you do not takeH7725 my sonH1121 backH7725 thereH8033! 78The LordH3068, the GodH430 of heavenH8064, whoH834 tookH3947 me from my father’sH1 houseH1004 and from the landH776 of my birthH4138, and whoH834 spokeH1696 to me and whoH834 sworeH7650 to me, sayingH559, ‘9To your 10descendantsH2233 I will giveH5414 thisH2088 landH776’--He will sendH7971 11His angelH4397 aheadH6440 of you, and you will takeH3947 a wifeH802 for my sonH1121 from thereH8033. 8But ifH518 the womanH802 isH14 not willingH14 to followH1980H310 you, then you will 12beH5352 freeH5352 of thisH2088 oathH7621 of mine; 13onlyH7534 do not takeH7725 my sonH1121 backH7725 thereH8033.” 9So the servantH5650 14placedH7760 his handH3027 underH8478 the thighH3409 of his masterH113 AbrahamH85, and sworeH7650 to him concerningH5921 thisH2088 matterH1697.
10Then the servantH5650 tookH3947 tenH6235 camelsH1581 from the camelsH1581 of his masterH113, and wentH1980 out with a varietyH3605 of 15goodH2898 thingsH2898 of his master’sH113 in his handH3027; so he setH6965 outH6965 and wentH1980 to 16MesopotamiaH763, to 17the cityH5892 of NahorH5152. 11He made the camelsH1581 kneelH1288 downH1288 outsideH4480H2351 the cityH5892 by 18the wellH875 of waterH4325 19when it was eveningH6153, 20the timeH6256 when women goH3318 outH3318 to drawH7579 waterH7579. 12And he saidH559, “21LordH3068, GodH430 of my masterH113 AbrahamH85, pleaseH4994 2223grantH7136 me successH7136 todayH3117, and showH6213 kindnessH2617 to my masterH113 AbrahamH85. 13BeholdH2009, 24I am standingH5324 by the 25springH5871, and the daughtersH1323 of the menH376 of the cityH5892 are comingH3318 outH3318 to drawH7579 waterH4325; 14now may it be that the youngH5291 womanH5291 to whomH834 I sayH559, ‘PleaseH4994 letH5186 downH5186 your jarH3537 so that I may drinkH8354,’ and 26who answersH559, ‘DrinkH8354, and I will waterH8248 your camelsH1581 alsoH1571’--may she be the one whom You have appointedH3198 for Your servantH5650 IsaacH3327; and by this I will knowH3045 that You have shownH6213 kindnessH2617 to my masterH113.”
15And it came about, 27beforeH2962 he had finishedH3615 speakingH1696, that beholdH2009, 28RebekahH7259, whoH834 was bornH3205 to BethuelH1328 the sonH1121 of 29MilcahH4435, the wifeH802 of Abraham’sH85 brotherH251 NahorH5152, cameH3318 outH3318 with her jarH3537 on her shoulderH7926. 16The youngH5291 womanH5291 was 30veryH3966 beautifulH2896, a virginH1330; noH3808 manH376 had 31hadH3045 relationsH3045 with her. She wentH3381 downH3381 to the springH5871, filledH4390 her jarH3537, and cameH5927 upH5927. 17Then the servantH5650 ranH7323 to meetH7122 her, and saidH559, “32PleaseH4994 let me drinkH1572 a littleH4592 waterH4325 from your jarH3537.” 18And 33she saidH559, “DrinkH8354, my lordH113”; then she quicklyH4116 loweredH3381 her jarH3537 to her handH3027, and gaveH8248 him aH8248 drinkH8248. 19Now when she had finishedH3615 givingH8248 him aH8248 drinkH8248, 34she saidH559, “I will alsoH1571 drawH7579 water for your camelsH1581 untilH5704H518 they have finishedH3615 drinkingH8354.” 20So she quicklyH4116 emptiedH6168 her jarH3537 into the troughH8268, and ranH7323 backH5750 to the wellH875 to drawH7579, and she drewH7579 for allH3605 his camelsH1581. 2135Meanwhile, the manH376 was takingH7583 aH7583 closeH7583 lookH7583 at her 36inH2790 silenceH2790, to findH3045 outH3045 whether the LordH3068 had madeH6743 his journeyH1870 successfulH6743 orH518 not.
22WhenH3512 the camelsH1581 had finishedH3615 drinkingH8354, the manH376 tookH3947 a 37goldH2091 ringH5141 weighingH4948 a 38half-shekelH1235, and twoH8147 braceletsH6781 for her 39wristsH3027 weighingH4948 tenH6235 shekels in goldH2091, 23and he saidH559, “WhoseH4310 daughterH1323 are you? PleaseH4994 tellH5046 me, isH3426 thereH3426 roomH4725 for us to stayH3885 overnightH3885 at your father’sH1 houseH1004?” 24She saidH559 to him, “40I am the daughterH1323 of BethuelH1328, Milcah’sH4435 sonH1121, whomH834 she boreH3205 to NahorH5152.” 25Again she saidH559 to him, “We have plentyH7227 of bothH1571 strawH8401 and feedH4554, and roomH4725 to stayH3885 overnightH3885.” 26Then the manH376 41bowedH6915 lowH6915 and worshipedH2331 the LordH3068. 27And he saidH559, “42BlessedH1288 be the LordH3068, the GodH430 of my masterH113 AbrahamH85, whoH834 has not abandonedH5800 43His kindnessH2617 and His trustworthinessH571 towardH4480H5973 my masterH113; as for me, 44the LordH3068 has guidedH5148 me in the wayH1870 to the houseH1004 of my master’sH113 brothersH251.”
28Then 45the youngH5291 womanH5291 ranH7323 and toldH5046 her mother’sH517 householdH1004 about theseH428 thingsH1697.
