“WhenH3588 a manH376 takesH3947 a wifeH802 and marriesH1166 her, and it happensH1961, if she findsH4672 noH3808 favorH2580 in his eyesH5869 becauseH3588 he has foundH4672 someH1697 1indecencyH6172 in her, that 2he writesH3789 her a certificateH5612 of divorceH3748, putsH5414 it in her handH3027, and 3sendsH7971 her awayH7971 from his houseH1004, 2and she leavesH3318 his houseH1004 and goesH1980 and becomesH1961 anotherH312 man’sH376 wife, 3and the latterH314 husbandH376 4turnsH8130 againstH8130 her, writesH3789 her a certificateH5612 of divorceH3748 and putsH5414 it in her handH3027, and 5sendsH7971 her away from his houseH1004, orH176 ifH3588 the latterH314 husbandH376 whoH834 tookH3947 her to be his wifeH802 diesH4191, 4then her 6formerH7223 husbandH1167 whoH834 7sentH7971 her awayH7971 is not allowedH3201 to takeH3947 her againH7725 to be his wifeH802, afterH310H834 8she has been defiledH2930; for that is an abominationH8441 beforeH6440 the LordH3068, and you shall not bringH2398 sinH2398 on the landH776 whichH834 the LordH3068 your GodH430 is givingH5414 you as an inheritanceH5159.

“9WhenH3588 a manH376 takesH3947 a newH2319 wifeH802, he is not to goH3318 outH3318 with the armyH6635, norH3808 be assignedH5674 anyH3605 dutyH1697; he shall be freeH5355 at homeH1004 for oneH259 yearH8141 and shall 10makeH8055 his wifeH802 whomH834 he has takenH3947 happyH8055.

Various Laws

“NoH3808 one shall seizeH2254 a handmillH7347 or an upperH7393 millstoneH7393 asH2254 aH2254 pledgeH2254 for a loan, sinceH3588 he would be seizingH2254 the debtor’s 11means of lifeH5315 asH2254 aH2254 pledgeH2254.

“12IfH3588 someoneH376 is 13caughtH4672 kidnappingH1589 anyH5315 of his countrymenH251 of the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, and he treatsH6014 him asH6014 merchandiseH6014 and sellsH4376 him, then that thiefH1590 shall dieH4191; so you shall eliminateH1197 the evilH7451 from amongH7130 you.

“14BeH8104 carefulH8104 about an infestationH5061 of leprosyH6883, that you areH8104 veryH3966 attentiveH8104 and actH6213 in accordance with everythingH3605 that the LeviticalH3881 priestsH3548 teachH3384 you; justH3512 asH3512 I have commandedH6680 them, you shall beH8104 carefulH8104 to actH6213. 9RememberH2142 whatH834 the LordH3068 your GodH430 didH6213 15to MiriamH4813 on the wayH1870 as you cameH3318 outH3318 of EgyptH4714.

“16WhenH3588 you makeH5383 your neighborH7453 a loanH4859 of anyH3972 kindH3972, you shall not enterH935 his houseH1004 to takeH5670 his pledgeH5667. 11You shall standH5975 outsideH2351, and the personH376 to whomH834 you are makingH5383 the loanH5383 shall bringH3318 the pledgeH5667 outsideH2351 to you. 12And ifH518 he is a poorH6041 manH376, you shall not sleepH7901 with his pledgeH5667. 1317When the sunH8121 goesH935 down you shall certainlyH7725 returnH7725 the pledgeH5667 to him, so that he may sleepH7901 in his cloakH8008 and blessH1288 you; and 18it will be righteousnessH6666 for you beforeH6440 the LordH3068 your GodH430.

“19You shall not exploitH6231 a hiredH7916 workerH7916 who is poorH6041 and needyH34, whetherH4480 he is one of your countrymenH251 orH176 one of your strangersH1616 whoH834 are in your landH776 in your 20townsH8179. 1521You shall giveH5414 him his wagesH7939 on his dayH3117 22before the sunH8121 setsH935--for he is poorH6041 and setsH5375 his 23heartH5315 on it--so that 24he does not cryH7121 outH7121 againstH5921 you to the LordH3068, and it becomesH1961 a sinH2399 in you.

“25FathersH1 shall not be putH4191 toH4191 deathH4191 for their sonsH1121, norH3808 shall sonsH1121 be putH4191 toH4191 deathH4191 for their fathersH1; everyoneH376 shall be putH4191 toH4191 deathH4191 for his own sinH2399 alone.

“26You shall not pervertH5186 the justiceH4941 27due a strangerH1616 or 28an orphanH3490, norH3808 29seizeH2254 a widow’sH490 garmentH899 asH2254 aH2254 30pledgeH2254. 18But you are to rememberH2142 that you were a slaveH5650 in EgyptH4714, and that the LordH3068 your GodH430 redeemedH6299 you from thereH8033; thereforeH5921H3651 I am commandingH6680 you to doH6213 thisH2088 thingH1697.

“31WhenH3588 you reapH7114 your harvestH7105 in your fieldH7704 and forgetH7911 a sheafH6016 in the fieldH7704, you are not to goH7725 backH7725 to getH3947 it; it shall belongH1961 32to the strangerH1616, the 33orphanH3490, and to the widowH490, inH4616 orderH4616 thatH4616 the LordH3068 your GodH430 34may blessH1288 you in allH3605 the workH4639 of your handsH3027. 2035WhenH3588 you beatH2251 the olives offH2251 your oliveH2132 treeH2132, you are not to searchH6287 throughH6287 the branchesH6287 36againH310; that shall be left 37for the strangerH1616, the 38orphanH3490, and for the widowH490.
