Deuteronomy 24
1When a manH376 hath takenH3947 a wifeH802, and marriedH1166 her, and it shall come to pass that she findethH4672 no favourH2580 in his eyesH5869, because he hath foundH4672 someH1697 uncleannessH6172 in her: then let him writeH3789 her a billH5612 of divorcementH3748, and giveH5414 it in her handH3027, and sendH7971 her out of his houseH1004.12 2And when she hath departedH3318 from his houseH1004, she may goH1980 and be anotherH312 man’sH376 wife . 3And if the latterH314 husbandH376 shall hateH8130 her, and writeH3789 her a billH5612 of divorcementH3748, and giveH5414 it in her handH3027, and sendH7971 her out of his houseH1004; or if the latterH314 husbandH376 shall dieH4191, who tookH3947 her to be his wifeH802; 4Her formerH7223 husbandH1167, who sent her awayH7971, mayH3201 not takeH3947 her againH7725 to be his wifeH802, afterH310 that she is defiledH2930; for that is abominationH8441 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068: and thou shalt not cause the landH776 to sinH2398, which the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 givethH5414 thee for an inheritanceH5159.
5When a manH376 hath newlyH2319 takenH3947 a wifeH802, he shall not go outH3318 to warH6635, neither shall he be chargedH5674 with any businessH1697: but he shall be freeH5355 at homeH1004 oneH259 yearH8141, and shall cheerH8055 his wifeH802 whom he hath takenH3947.3 6No man shall takeH2254 the lowerH7347 or the upper millstoneH7393 for a pledgeH2254: for he takethH2254 a man’s lifeH5315 for a pledgeH2254. 7If a manH376 shall be foundH4672 stealingH1589 from anyH5315 of his brethrenH251 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and shall make merchandiseH6014 of him, or sellH4376 him; then that thiefH1590 shall dieH4191; and thou shalt removeH1197 evilH7451 from amongH7130 you. 8Take heedH8104 in the plagueH5061 of leprosyH6883, that thou observeH8104 diligentlyH3966, and doH6213 according to all that the priestsH3548 the LevitesH3881 shall teachH3384 you: as I commandedH6680 them, so ye shall observeH8104 to doH6213. 9RememberH2142 what the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 didH6213 to MiriamH4813 by the wayH1870, after that ye had come forthH3318 from EgyptH4714. 10When thou dost lendH5383 thy brotherH7453 anyH3972 thingH4859, thou shalt not goH935 into his houseH1004 to takeH5670 his pledgeH5667.4 11Thou shalt standH5975 outsideH2351, and the manH376 to whom thou dost lendH5383 shall bring outH3318 the pledgeH5667 outsideH2351 to thee. 12And if the manH376 is poorH6041, thou shalt not sleepH7901 with his pledgeH5667: 13In any caseH7725 thou shalt deliverH7725 to him the pledgeH5667 againH7725 when the sunH8121 goeth downH935, that he may sleepH7901 in his own raimentH8008, and blessH1288 thee: and it shall be righteousnessH6666 to thee beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 thy GodH430.
14Thou shalt not oppressH6231 an hired servantH7916 that is poorH6041 and needyH34, whether he is of thy brethrenH251, or of thy strangersH1616 that are in thy landH776 within thy gatesH8179: 15At his dayH3117 thou shalt giveH5414 him his hireH7939, neither shall the sunH8121 go downH935 upon it; for he is poorH6041, and settethH5375 his heartH5315 upon it: lest he should cryH7121 against thee to the LORDH3068, and it be sinH2399 to thee.5 16The fathersH1 shall not be put to deathH4191 for the childrenH1121, neither shall the childrenH1121 be put to deathH4191 for the fathersH1: every manH376 shall be put to deathH4191 for his own sinH2399. 17Thou shalt not pervertH5186 the judgmentH4941 of the strangerH1616, nor of the fatherlessH3490; nor takeH2254 a widow’sH490 raimentH899 for a pledgeH2254: 18But thou shalt rememberH2142 that thou wast a slaveH5650 in EgyptH4714, and the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 redeemedH6299 thee from there: therefore I commandH6680 thee to doH6213 this thingH1697. 19When thou cuttest downH7114 thy harvestH7105 in thy fieldH7704, and hast forgotH7911 a sheafH6016 in the fieldH7704, thou shalt not go againH7725 to fetchH3947 it: it shall be for the strangerH1616, for the fatherlessH3490, and for the widowH490: that the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 may blessH1288 thee in all the workH4639 of thy handsH3027. 20When thou beatestH2251 thy olive treeH2132, thou shalt not go over the boughsH6286 againH310: it shall be for the strangerH1616, for the fatherlessH3490, and for the widowH490.6 21When thou gatherestH1219 the grapes of thy vineyardH3754, thou shalt not gleanH5953 it afterwardH310: it shall be for the strangerH1616, for the fatherlessH3490, and for the widowH490.7 22And thou shalt rememberH2142 that thou wast a slaveH5650 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714: therefore I commandH6680 thee to doH6213 this thingH1697.
