32The PhariseesΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiG5330heardἤκουσανēkousanG191the crowdὄχλουochlouG3793whisperingγογγύζοντοςgonguzontosG1111theseG3778thingsταῦτα,tautaG3778aboutπερὶperiG4012Him, and the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and the PhariseesΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiG5330sentἀπέστειλανapesteilanG649officersὑπηρέταςhupēretasG5257toarrestπιάσωσινpiasōsinG4084Him.

33ThereforeοὖνounG3767JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidG3004, “For a littleμικρὸνmikronG3398whileχρόνονchrononG5550longerἔτιetiG2089I amεἰμιeimiG1510going to be with you, and thenI am goingὑπάγωhupagōG5217to Him who sentπέμψαντάpempsantaG3992Me.

34You will seekζητήσετέzētēseteG2212Me, and will not findεὑρήσετέheurēseteG2147Me; and whereὅπουhopouG3699I amεἰμὶeimiG1510,you cannotδύνασθεdunastheG1410 G3756comeἐλθεῖν.¶eltheinG2064.”

35The JewsἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiG2453thenοὖνounG3767saidG3004to oneG1438anotherG1438, “WhereποῦpouG4226does thisG3778ManG3778intendμέλλειmelleiG3195to goπορεύεσθαιporeuesthaiG4198that we will not findεὑρήσομενheurēsomenG2147Him? He does not intendμέλλειmelleiG3195to goπορεύεσθαιporeuesthaiG4198tothe DispersionδιασπορὰνdiasporanG1290amongthe GreeksἙλλήνωνHellēnōnG1672,and teachδιδάσκεινdidaskeinG1321the GreeksἝλληνας;HellēnasG1672, does He?

36WhatτίςtisG5101is thisοὗτοςhoutosG3778statementλόγοςlogosG3056that He saidG3004, ‘You will seekζητήσετέzētēseteG2212Me, and will not findεὑρήσετέheurēseteG2147Me; and whereὅπουhopouG3699I amG1510,you cannotδύνασθεdunastheG1410 G3756comeἐλθεῖν;¶eltheinG2064’?”

37NowδὲdeG1161onthe lastἐσχάτῃeschatēG2078dayἡμέρᾳhēmeraG2250,the greatμεγάλῃmegalēG3173dayof the feastἑορτῆςhe'ortēsG1859,JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424stoodεἱστήκειheistēkeiG2476and criedG2896outG2896,sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “IfἐάνeanG1437anyoneτιςtisG5100isG1372thirstyG1372,let him comeἐρχέσθωerchesthōG2064to Me and drinkπινέτω.pinetōG4095.

38The one who believesπιστεύωνpisteuōnG4100in Me,as the Scriptureγραφή,graphēG1124saidG3004, ‘From his innermostG2836beingG2836will flowῥεύσουσινrheusousinG4482riversποταμοὶpotamoiG4215oflivingζῶντος.zōntosG2198waterὕδατοςhudatosG5204.’”

39But thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778He saidG3004inG4012referenceG4012toG4012the SpiritπνεύματοςpneumatosG4151,whomὃhoG3739thoseG3588who believedπιστεύσαντεςpisteusantesG4100in Him were to receiveλαμβάνεινlambaneinG2983; forthe SpiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151was not yetοὔπωoupōG3768given,becauseὅτιhotiG3754JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424was not yetοὐδέπωoudepōG3764glorifiedἐδοξάσθη.¶edoxasthēG1392.

40Someof the peopleὄχλουochlouG3793thereforeοὖνounG3767,after they heardἀκούσαντεςakousantesG191theseτούτωνtoutōnG3778wordsλόγωνlogōnG3056,were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004, “ThisοὗτόςhoutosG3778trulyἀληθῶςalēthōsG230isthe Prophetπροφήτης.prophētēsG4396.”

41OthersἄλλοιalloiG243were sayingἔλεγον·elegonG3004, “ThisοὗτόςhoutosG3778is theChristχριστός·christosG5547.”But othersG3588were sayingἔλεγον·elegonG3004, “Surelyμὴ γὰρmē garG1063 G3361theChristχριστὸςchristosG5547is not comingἔρχεται;erchetaiG2064from GalileeΓαλιλαίαςGalilaiasG1056, is He?

42Has the ScriptureγραφὴgraphēG1124not saidG3004that the Christχριστός;¶christosG5547comesἔρχεταιerchetaiG2064fromthe descendantsσπέρματοςspermatosG4690of DavidG1160,and from BethlehemΒηθλέεμBēthleemG965,the villageκώμηςkōmēsG2968whereὅπουhopouG3699DavidG1160was?”

43SoοὖνounG3767a dissensionΣχίσμαSchismaG4978occurredἐγένετοegenetoG1096in the crowdὄχλῳochlōG3793becauseδι᾽di᾽G1223of Him.

44AndsomeτινὲςtinesG5100of them wantedἤθελονēthelonG2309to arrestπιάσαιpiasaiG4084Him, but noG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762laidἐπέβαλενepebalenG1911handsχεῖρας.¶cheirasG5495on Him.

45TheofficersὑπηρέταιhupēretaiG5257thenοὖνounG3767cameἮλθονĒlthonG2064to the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and PhariseesΦαρισαίους,PharisaiousG5330,and they saidG3004to them, “Whyδιὰ τίdia tiG1223 G5101did you not bringἠγάγετεēgageteG71Him?”
