1Onthe thirdτρίτῃtritēG5154dayἡμέρᾳhēmeraG2250there was a weddingγάμοςgamosG1062inCanaΚανὰKanaG2580of GalileeΓαλιλαίας,GalilaiasG1056, and themotherμήτηρmētērG3384of JesusἸησοῦIēsouG2424was thereἐκεῖ·ekeiG1563;

2and bothG2532JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424and HisdisciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101were invitedἐκλήθηeklēthēG2564to the weddingγάμον.gamonG1062.

3When the wineοἴνουoinouG3631ranG5302outG5302,the motherμήτηρmētērG3384of JesusἸησοῦIēsouG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to Him, “They haveἔχουσιν.echousinG2192noοὐκoukG3756wineοἶνονoinonG3631.”

4And JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to her, “WhatτίtiG5101business do you have with Me,womanγύναι;gunaiG1135?My hourὥραhōraG5610hasG2240not yetοὔπωoupōG3768comeἥκειhēkeiG2240.”

5HismotherμήτηρmētērG3384saidλέγειlegeiG3004to the servantsδιακόνοις·diakonoisG1249, “Whateverὅ τι ἂνho ti anG3739 G5100 G302He tellsλέγῃlegēG3004you, doποιήσατε.¶poiēsateG4160it.”

6NowδὲdeG1161there were sixἓξhexG1803stoneλίθιναιlithinaiG3035waterpotsὑδρίαιhudriaiG5201standingκείμεναι,keimenaiG2749thereἐκεῖekeiG1563for the JewishἸουδαίωνIoudaiōnG2453customG2512ofG2512purificationκαθαρισμὸνkatharismonG2512,containingχωροῦσαιchōrousaiG5562twoδύοduoG1417orἢēG2228threeτρεῖς.treisG5140measuresμετρητὰςmetrētasG3355eachἀνὰanaG303.

7JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to them,“FillγεμίσατεgemisateG1072the waterpotsὑδρίαςhudriasG5201with waterὕδατος.hudatosG5204.”SoκαὶkaiG2532they filledἐγέμισανegemisanG1072them up to the brimἄνω.anōG507.

8And He saidλέγειlegeiG3004to them,“DrawἀντλήσατεantlēsateG501someoutG501nowνῦνnunG3568and takeφέρετεphereteG5342it to theheadwaiterἀρχιτρικλίνῳ.architriklinōG755.”And they tookἤνεγκαν.ēnegkanG5342it to him.

9NowG1161whenὡςhōsG5613the headwaiterἀρχιτρίκλινοςarchitriklinosG755tastedἐγεύσατοegeusatoG1089the waterὕδωρhudōrG5204which had becomeγεγενημένονgegenēmenonG1096wineοἶνονoinonG3631,and did not knowG3609whereπόθενpothenG4159it cameἐστίν,estinG1510from (but the servantsδιάκονοιdiakonoiG1249who had drawnἠντληκότεςēntlēkotesG501the waterὕδωρ,hudōrG5204knewG3609),the headwaiterἀρχιτρίκλινοςarchitriklinosG755calledφωνεῖphōneiG5455the groomνυμφίονnumphionG3566,

10and saidλέγειlegeiG3004to him, “EveryπᾶςpasG3956manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444servesτίθησιν,tithēsinG5087the goodκαλὸνkalonG2570wineοἶνονoinonG3631firstπρῶτονprōtonG4413,and whenὅτανhotanG3752the guestsareG3184drunkμεθυσθῶσινmethusthōsinG3184, then he servesthe poorerἐλάσσω·elassōG1640wine; butyou have keptτετήρηκαςtetērēkasG5083the goodκαλὸνkalonG2570wineοἶνονoinonG3631untilἕωςhe'ōsG2193nowἄρτι.artiG737.”
