Joseph Interprets a Dream
1Then it cameH1961 about afterH310 theseH428 thingsH1697, 1the cupbearerH4945 and the bakerH644 for the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 offendedH2398 their lordH113, the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714. 2PharaohH6547 was 2furiousH7107 with his twoH8147 officialsH5631, the chiefH8269 cupbearerH4945 and the chiefH8269 bakerH644. 3So he putH5414 them in confinementH4929 in the houseH1004 of the 3captainH8269 of the bodyguardH2876, in the jailH1004H5470, the same placeH4725 whereH834H8033 JosephH3130 was imprisonedH631. 4The captainH8269 of the bodyguardH2876 putH6485 JosephH3130 in chargeH6485 of them, and he 4tookH8334 careH8334 of them; and they were in confinementH4929 for 5someH3117 timeH3117. 5Then the cupbearerH4945 and the bakerH644 for the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, whoH834 were confinedH631 in jailH1004H5470, bothH8147 hadH2492 a dreamH2472 the sameH259 nightH3915, eachH376 manH376 with his own dreamH2472 and eachH376 dreamH2472 with its own interpretationH6623. 66When JosephH3130 cameH935 to them in the morningH1242 and observedH7200 them, 7beholdH2009, they were dejectedH2196. 7He askedH7592 Pharaoh’sH6547 officialsH5631 whoH834 were with him in confinementH4929 in his master’sH113 houseH1004, “89WhyH4069 are your facesH6440 so sadH7451 todayH3117?” 8Then they saidH559 to him, “10We have 11hadH2492 a dreamH2472 and thereH369 is noH369 oneH369 to interpretH6622 it.” Then JosephH3130 saidH559 to them, “12Do not interpretationsH6623 belong to GodH430? TellH5608 it to me, pleaseH4994.”
9So the chiefH8269 cupbearerH4945 toldH5608 his dreamH2472 to JosephH3130, and saidH559 to him, “In my dreamH2472, 13beholdH2009, there was a vineH1612 in frontH6440 of me; 10and on the vineH1612 were threeH7969 branchesH8299. And as it was buddingH6524, its blossomsH5322 cameH5927 out, and its clustersH811 producedH1310 ripeH1310 grapesH6025. 11Now Pharaoh’sH6547 cupH3563 was in my handH3027; so I tookH3947 the grapesH6025 and squeezedH7818 them into Pharaoh’sH6547 cupH3563, and I putH5414 the cupH3563 into Pharaoh’sH6547 14handH3709.” 12Then JosephH3130 saidH559 to him, “ThisH2088 is the 15interpretationH6623 of it: the threeH7969 branchesH8299 are threeH7969 daysH3117; 13within threeH7969 moreH5750 daysH3117 PharaohH6547 will 16liftH5375 up your headH7218 and restoreH7725 you to your 17officeH3653; and you will putH5414 Pharaoh’sH6547 cupH3563 into his handH3027 according to your formerH7223 customH4941 whenH834 you were his cupbearerH4945. 14OnlyH3588H518 18keepH2142 me in mind whenH3512 it goesH3190 wellH3190 with you, and pleaseH4994 19doH6213 me a kindnessH2617 20by mentioningH2142 me to PharaohH6547 and getH3318 me out of thisH2088 houseH1004. 15For 21I was in factH1589 kidnappedH1589 from the landH776 of the HebrewsH5680, and evenH1571 hereH6311 I have doneH6213 nothingH3808H3972 that they should have putH7760 me into the 22dungeonH953.”
16When the chiefH8269 bakerH644 sawH7200 that he had interpretedH6622 favorablyH2896, he saidH559 to JosephH3130, “I alsoH637 saw in my dreamH2472, and beholdH2009, there were threeH7969 basketsH5536 of whiteH2751 breadH2751 on my headH7218; 17and in the topH5945 basketH5536 there were someH4480 of allH3605 23sorts of bakedH644 foodH3978 for PharaohH6547, and the birdsH5775 were eatingH398 them out of the basketH5536 on my headH7218.” 18Then JosephH3130 answeredH6030 and saidH559, “ThisH2088 is its interpretationH6623: the threeH7969 basketsH5536 are threeH7969 daysH3117; 19within threeH7969 moreH5750 daysH3117 PharaohH6547 will liftH5375 up your headH7218 from you and will hangH8518 you on a treeH6086, and the birdsH5775 will eatH398 your fleshH1320 offH4480H5921 you.”
20Thus it cameH1961 about on the thirdH7992 dayH3117, which was 24Pharaoh’sH6547 birthdayH3205H3117, that he madeH6213 a feastH4960 for allH3605 his servantsH5650; 25and he liftedH5375 up the headH7218 of the chiefH8269 cupbearerH4945 and the headH7218 of the chiefH8269 bakerH644 amongH8432 his servantsH5650. 21He restoredH7725 the chiefH8269 cupbearerH4945 to his 26officeH4945, and 27he putH5414 the cupH3563 into Pharaoh’sH6547 28handH3709; 22but 29he hangedH8518 the chiefH8269 bakerH644, justH3512 as JosephH3130 had interpretedH6622 to them. 23Yet the chiefH8269 cupbearerH4945 did not rememberH2142 JosephH3130, but 30forgotH7911 him.
