Exodus 14

Darby Bible

1And Jehovah spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 2SpeakH1696 unto the children of IsraelH3478, that they turnH7725 and encampH2583 before Pi-hahirothH6367, between MigdolH4024 and the seaH3220: before Baal-ZephonH1189, opposite to it, shall ye encampH2583 by the seaH3220. 3And PharaohH6547 will sayH559 of the children of IsraelH3478, They are entangled in the landH776, the wildernessH4057 has hemmed them in. 4And I will harden Pharaoh's heartH3820, that he may pursueH7291 after them; and I will glorifyH3513 myself in PharaohH6547, and in all his host; and the EgyptiansH4713 shall knowH3045 that I am Jehovah. And they did soH3651. 5And it was toldH5046 the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 that the peopleH5971 had fledH1272; and the heartH3824 of PharaohH6547 and of his bondmen was turnedH2015 against the peopleH5971, and they saidH559, WhyH4100 have we done this, that we have let IsraelH3478 goH7971 from our service? 6And he yoked his chariotH7393, and tookH3947 his peopleH5971 with him. 7And he tookH3947 sixH8337 hundredH3967 chosen chariotsH7393, and all the chariotsH7393 of EgyptH4714, and captains over every one of them. 8And Jehovah hardened the heartH3820 of PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, and he pursuedH7291 after the children of IsraelH3478; and the children of IsraelH3478 had goneH3318 out with a highH7311 handH3027. 9And the EgyptiansH4713 pursuedH7291 after them, — all the horsesH5483 and chariotsH7393 of PharaohH6547, and his horsemenH6571, and his armyH2428, and overtookH5381 them where they had encampedH2583 by the seaH3220, beside Pi-hahirothH6367, opposite to Baal-ZephonH1189. 10And PharaohH6547 approached; and the children of IsraelH3478 liftedH5375 up their eyesH5869, and behold, the EgyptiansH4713 marched after them; and the children of IsraelH3478 were much afraidH3372, and criedH6817 out to Jehovah. 11And they saidH559 to MosesH4872, Is it because there were no gravesH6913 in EgyptH4714, thou hast takenH3947 us awayH3947 to dieH4191 in the wildernessH4057? whyH4100 hast thou done this to us, that thou hast led us out of EgyptH4714? 12Is not this what we told thee in EgyptH4714, when we saidH559, Let us alone, and we will serveH5647 the Egyptians? For [it had been] betterH2896 for us to serveH5647 the Egyptians than to dieH4191 in the wildernessH4057. 13And MosesH4872 saidH559 to the peopleH5971, FearH3372 not: standH3320 stillH5750, and seeH7200 the salvationH3444 of Jehovah, which he will work for you to-day; for the EgyptiansH4713 whom ye have seenH7200 to-day, ye shall seeH7200 them againH5750 no more for everH5769. 14Jehovah will fightH3898 for you, and ye shall be still. 15And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872, WhyH4100 dost thou cryH6817 unto me? SpeakH1696 unto the children of IsraelH3478, that they go forward. 16And thou, liftH7311 thy staffH4294, and stretchH5186 out thy handH3027 over the seaH3220, and divide it; and the children of IsraelH3478 shall goH935 on dryH3004 [groundH3004] through the midstH8432 of the seaH3220. 17And I, behold, I will harden the heartsH3820 of the EgyptiansH4713, and they shall pursue after them; and I will glorifyH3513 myself in PharaohH6547 and in all his host, in his chariotsH7393 and in his horsemenH6571. 18And the EgyptiansH4713 shall knowH3045 that I am Jehovah, when I have glorifiedH3513 myself in PharaohH6547, in his chariotsH7393 and in his horsemenH6571. 19And the AngelH4397 of 1GodH430, who wentH1980 before the campH4264 of IsraelH3478, removed and wentH1980 behind them; and the pillarH5982 of the cloudH6051 wentH1980 from before them, and stoodH5975 behind them. 20And it cameH935 between the campH4264 of the Egyptians and the campH4264 of IsraelH3478; and wasH1961 a cloudH6051 and darknessH2822, and litH215 up the nightH3915; and the oneH2088 did not comeH935 near the other all the nightH3915. 21And MosesH4872 stretchedH5186 out his handH3027 over the seaH3220; and Jehovah madeH7760 the seaH3220 go [back] by a strongH5794 eastH6921 windH7307 all the nightH3915, and madeH7760 the seaH3220 dryH2724 [land], and the watersH4325 were divided. 22And the children of IsraelH3478 wentH935 through the midstH8432 of the seaH3220 on the dryH3004 [groundH3004]; and the watersH4325 were a wallH2346 to them on their rightH3225 handH3225 and on their left. 23And the EgyptiansH4713 pursuedH7291 and cameH935 after them — all Pharaoh's horsesH5483, his chariotsH7393 and his horsemenH6571, into the midstH8432 of the seaH3220. 24And it came to pass in the morningH1242 watchH821, that Jehovah lookedH8259 upon the campH4264 of the EgyptiansH4713, in the pillarH5982 of fireH784 and of the cloudH6051, and embarrassed the campH4264 of the EgyptiansH4713. 25And he took off their chariotH4818 wheelsH212, and caused them to drive with difficulty; and the Egyptians saidH559, Let us fleeH5127 before IsraelH3478, for Jehovah is fightingH3898 for them against the Egyptians! 26And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872, StretchH5186 out thy handH3027 over the seaH3220, that the watersH4325 may returnH7725 upon the Egyptians, upon their chariotsH7393 and upon their horsemenH6571. 27And MosesH4872 stretchedH5186 out his handH3027 over the seaH3220, and the seaH3220 returnedH7725 to its strength toward the morningH1242; and the Egyptians fledH5127 against it; and Jehovah overturned the Egyptians into the midstH8432 of the seaH3220. 28And the watersH4325 returnedH7725, and coveredH3680 the chariotsH7393 and the horsemenH6571 of all the host of PharaohH6547 that had comeH935 into the seaH3220 after them; there remainedH7604 not even oneH259 of them. 29And the children of IsraelH3478 walkedH1980 on dryH3004 [groundH3004] through the midstH8432 of the seaH3220; and the watersH4325 were a wallH2346 to them on their rightH3225 handH3225 and on their left. 30Thus Jehovah savedH3467 IsraelH3478 that dayH3117 out of the handH3027 of the Egyptians; and IsraelH3478 sawH7200 the Egyptians deadH4191 on the sea-shore. 31And IsraelH3478 sawH7200 the greatH1419 power [with] which Jehovah had wrought against the Egyptians; and the peopleH5971 fearedH3372 Jehovah, and believedH539 in Jehovah, and in MosesH4872 his bondman.
