Exodus 16

Darby Bible

1And they journeyed from ElimH362, and the whole assemblyH5712 of the children of IsraelH3478 cameH935 into the wildernessH4057 of Sin, which is between ElimH362 and SinaiH5514, on the fifteenth dayH3117 of the secondH8145 monthH2320 after their departure out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 2And the whole assemblyH5712 of the children of IsraelH3478 murmured against MosesH4872 and against AaronH175 in the wildernessH4057. 3And the children of IsraelH3478 saidH559 to them, Would that we had diedH4191 by the handH3027 of Jehovah in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, when we satH3427 by the flesh-pots, when we ateH398 breadH3899 to the full; for ye have broughtH3318 us out into this wildernessH4057, to killH4191 this whole congregation with hungerH7458! 4Then saidH559 Jehovah to MosesH4872, Behold, I will rainH4305 breadH3899 from heavenH8064 for you; and the peopleH5971 shall goH3318 out and gatherH3950 the daily need on its dayH3117, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my lawH8451, or not. 5And it shall comeH935 to pass on the sixthH8345 dayH3117, that they shall prepareH3559 what they have broughtH935 in; and it shall beH1961 twice as much as they shall gatherH3950 daily. 6And MosesH4872 and AaronH175 saidH559 to all the children of IsraelH3478, In the eveningH6153, then shall ye knowH3045 that Jehovah has broughtH3318 you out from the landH776 of EgyptH4714; 7and in the morningH1242, then shall ye seeH7200 the gloryH3519 of Jehovah; for he has heardH8085 your murmurings against Jehovah; — and what are we, that ye murmur against us? 8And MosesH4872 saidH559, When Jehovah givesH5414 you in the eveningH6153 fleshH1320 to eatH398, and in the morningH1242 breadH3899 to the full; for Jehovah hearsH8085 your murmurings which ye murmur against him...and what [are] we? your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah. 9And MosesH4872 spoke to AaronH175, SayH559 to all the assemblyH5712 of the children of IsraelH3478, Come near into the presenceH6440 of Jehovah; for he has heardH8085 your murmurings. 10And it came to pass, when AaronH175 spokeH1696 to the whole assemblyH5712 of the children of IsraelH3478, that they turnedH6437 toward the wildernessH4057, and behold, the gloryH3519 of Jehovah appearedH7200 in the cloudH6051. 11And Jehovah spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 12I have heardH8085 the murmurings of the children of IsraelH3478: speakH1696 to them, sayingH559, Between the two eveningsH6153 ye shall eatH398 fleshH1320, and in the morningH1242 ye shall be filled with breadH3899; and ye shall knowH3045 that I am Jehovah your 1GodH430. 13And it came to pass in the eveningH6153, that quailsH7958 came up, and coveredH3680 the campH4264; and in the morningH1242 the dewH2919 lay roundH5439 the campH4264. 14And when the dewH2919 that lay [round it] was goneH5927 up, behold, on the faceH6440 of the wildernessH4057 there was [something] fineH1851, granular, fineH1851 as hoar-frost, on the groundH776. 15And the children of IsraelH3478 sawH7200 [it], and saidH559 oneH376 to another, What is it? for they did not knowH3045 what it was. And MosesH4872 saidH559 to them, This is the breadH3899 which Jehovah has givenH5414 you to eat. 16This is the thingH1697 which Jehovah has commandedH6680: GatherH3950 of it every manH376 according to what he can eat, an omer a poll, [according to] the numberH4557 of your personsH5315: ye shall takeH3947 every manH376 for those that are in his tentH168. 17And the children of IsraelH3478 did soH3651, and gatheredH3950, some muchH7235, some littleH4591. 18And they measuredH4058 with the omer: then he that gatheredH3950 muchH7235 had nothing over, and he that gatheredH3950 littleH4591 wanted nothing: they had gatheredH3950 every manH376 according to the measureH4058 of his eating. 19And MosesH4872 saidH559 to them, Let no manH376 leaveH3498 [any] of it until the morningH1242. 20But they did not hearken to MosesH4872; and some menH376 leftH3498 of it until the morningH1242; then wormsH8438 bred in it and it stankH887. And MosesH4872 was wroth with them. 21And they gatheredH3950 it every morningH1242, every manH376 as much as he could eat; and when the sunH8121 became hotH2552, it meltedH4549. 22And it cameH935 to pass on the sixthH8345 dayH3117, that they gatheredH3950 twice as much breadH3899, twoH8147 omersH6016 for oneH259; and all the princesH5387 of the assemblyH5712 cameH935 and toldH5046 MosesH4872. 23And he saidH559 to them, This is what Jehovah has saidH559: To-morrow is the rest, the holyH6944 sabbathH7676, of Jehovah: bakeH644 what ye will bakeH644, and cookH1310 what ye will cookH1310; and lay up for yourselves all that remains over, to be keptH4931 for the morningH1242. 24And they laid it up for the morningH1242, as MosesH4872 had commandedH6680; and it did not stinkH887, neither wasH1961 there any worm in it. 25And MosesH4872 saidH559, EatH398 it to-day; for to-day is sabbathH7676 to Jehovah: to-day ye shall not findH4672 it in the fieldH7704. 26SixH8337 daysH3117 shall ye gatherH3950 it; but on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 is sabbathH7676: on it there shall beH1961 none. 27And it came to pass on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 that there wentH3318 out [some] from the peopleH5971 to gatherH3950 [it], and they foundH4672 none. 28And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872, How long do ye refuseH3985 to keepH8104 my commandmentsH4687 and my lawsH8451? 29SeeH7200, for Jehovah hath givenH5414 you the sabbathH7676; thereforeH3651 he giveth you on the sixthH8345 dayH3117 the breadH3899 for two daysH3117. Abide every manH376 in his placeH4725: let no manH376 goH3318 from his placeH4725 on the seventhH7637 dayH3117. 30And the peopleH5971 restedH7673 on the seventhH7637 dayH3117. 31And the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 calledH7121 its nameH8034 MannaH4478; and it was like coriander-seed, whiteH3836; and the tasteH2940 of it was like cake with honeyH1706. 32And MosesH4872 saidH559, This is the thingH1697 which Jehovah has commandedH6680: FillH4393 an omer of it to be keptH4931 for your generationsH1755; that they may seeH7200 the breadH3899 that I gave you to eatH398 in the wildernessH4057, whenH834 I broughtH3318 you out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 33And MosesH4872 saidH559 to AaronH175, TakeH3947 a pot, and putH5414 in it an omer full of mannaH4478, and deposit it before Jehovah, to be keptH4931 for your generationsH1755. 34As Jehovah had commandedH6680 MosesH4872, so AaronH175 deposited it before the TestimonyH5715, to be keptH4931. 35And the children of IsraelH3478 ateH398 the mannaH4478 fortyH705 yearsH8141, until they cameH935 into an inhabitedH3427 landH776: they ateH398 the mannaH4478 until they cameH935 to the borders of the landH776 of CanaanH3667. 36Now an omer is the tenthH6224 [part] of an ephahH374.
