Exodus 17
Darby Bible
1And all the assemblyH5712 of the children of IsraelH3478 journeyed from the wildernessH4057 of Sin, according to their journeys, at the command of Jehovah; and they encampedH2583 in RephidimH7508; and there was no waterH4325 for the peopleH5971 to drinkH8354. 2And the peopleH5971 contendedH7378 with MosesH4872, and saidH559, GiveH5414 us waterH4325, that we may drinkH8354! And MosesH4872 saidH559 to them, WhyH4100 do ye dispute with me? WhyH4100 do ye tempt Jehovah? 3And the peopleH5971 thirsted there for waterH4325; and the peopleH5971 murmured against MosesH4872, and saidH559, WhyH4100 is it that thou hast broughtH5927 us up out of EgyptH4714, to killH4191 us and our children and our cattle with thirstH6772? 4And MosesH4872 criedH6817 to Jehovah, sayingH559, What shall I do with this peopleH5971? YetH5750 a littleH4592, and they will stoneH5619 me! 5And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872, GoH1980 on before the peopleH5971, and takeH3947 with thee of the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478, and thy staffH4294 with which thou didst smite the riverH2975, takeH3947 in thy handH3027, and goH1980. 6Behold, I will standH5975 before thee there upon the rockH6697 on HorebH2722; and thou shalt strikeH5221 the rockH6697, and there shall comeH3318 waterH4325 out of it, that the peopleH5971 may drinkH8354. And MosesH4872 did soH3651 before the eyesH5869 of the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478. 7And he calledH7121 the nameH8034 of the placeH4725 MassahH4532, and MeribahH4809, because of the contention of the children of IsraelH3478, and because they had tempted Jehovah, sayingH559, Is Jehovah among us, or not? 8And AmalekH6002 cameH935 and foughtH3898 with IsraelH3478 in RephidimH7508. 9And MosesH4872 saidH559 to JoshuaH3091, ChooseH977 us menH376, and goH3318 out, fightH3898 with AmalekH6002; to-morrow I will standH5324 on the topH7218 of the hillH1389 with the staffH4294 of 1GodH430 in my handH3027. 10And JoshuaH3091 did as MosesH4872 had saidH559 to him, to fightH3898 with AmalekH6002; and MosesH4872, AaronH175 and HurH2354 wentH5927 up to the topH7218 of the hillH1389. 11And it came to pass when MosesH4872 raisedH7311 his handH3027, that IsraelH3478 prevailedH1396; and when he let down his handH3027, AmalekH6002 prevailedH1396. 12And Moses' handsH3027 wereH1961 heavyH3515; then they tookH3947 a stoneH68, and putH7760 [it] under him, and he satH3427 on it; and AaronH175 and HurH2354 supportedH8551 his handsH3027, oneH259 on this side, and oneH259 on that side; and his handsH3027 wereH1961 steady until the goingH935 downH3427 of the sunH8121. 13And JoshuaH3091 broke the power of AmalekH6002 and his peopleH5971 with the edge of the swordH2719. 14And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872, WriteH3789 this [for] a memorialH2146 in the bookH5612, and rehearse [it] in the earsH241 of JoshuaH3091, that I will utterly blot out the remembranceH2146 of AmalekH6002 from under the heavensH8064. 15And MosesH4872 builtH1129 an altarH4196, and calledH7121 the nameH8034 of it Jehovah-nissi. 16And he saidH559, For the handH3027 is on the throne of Jah; Jehovah will have warH4421 with AmalekH6002 from generationH1755 to generationH1755!
