Exodus 3

Darby Bible

1And MosesH4872 tended the flockH6629 of JethroH3503 his father-in-law, the priestH3548 of MidianH4080. And he ledH5090 the flockH6629 behind the wildernessH4057, and cameH935 to the mountainH2022 of 1GodH430 — to HorebH2722. 2And the AngelH4397 of Jehovah appearedH7200 to him in a flame of fireH784 out of the midstH8432 of a thorn-bush: and he lookedH7200, and behold, the thorn-bush burnedH1197 with fireH784, and the thorn-bush was not being consumedH398. 3And MosesH4872 saidH559, Let me now turnH5493 asideH5493 and seeH7200 this greatH1419 sightH4758, whyH4069 the thorn-bush is not burnt. 4And Jehovah sawH7200 that he turnedH5493 asideH5493 to seeH7200, and 2GodH430 calledH7121 to him out of the midstH8432 of the thorn-bush and saidH559, MosesH4872, MosesH4872! And he saidH559, HereH2009 am I. 5And he saidH559, DrawH7126 not nigh hither: loose thy sandalsH5275 from off thy feetH7272, for the placeH4725 whereon thou standest is holyH6944 groundH127. 6And he saidH559, I am the 3GodH430 of thy fatherH1, the 4GodH430 of AbrahamH85, the 5GodH430 of IsaacH3327, and the 6GodH430 of JacobH3290. And MosesH4872 hidH5641 his faceH6440; for he was afraidH3372 to lookH5027 at 7GodH430. 7And Jehovah saidH559, I have seenH7200 assuredly the affliction of my peopleH5971 who are in EgyptH4714, and their cryH6818 have I heardH8085 on account of their taskmastersH5065; for I knowH3045 their sorrows. 8And I am comeH5927 down to deliverH5337 them out of the handH3027 of the EgyptiansH4713, and to bringH5927 them up out of that landH776 unto a goodH2896 and spacious landH776, unto a landH776 flowingH2100 with milkH2461 and honeyH1706, unto the placeH4725 of the CanaanitesH3669, and the HittitesH2850, and the AmoritesH567, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 9And nowH6258 behold, the cryH6818 of the children of IsraelH3478 is comeH935 unto me; and I have alsoH1571 seenH7200 the oppressionH3906 with which the EgyptiansH4713 oppressH3905 them. 10And nowH6258 comeH3318, and I will sendH7971 thee unto PharaohH6547, that thou mayest bringH3318 forthH3318 my peopleH5971 the children of IsraelH3478 out of EgyptH4714. 11And MosesH4872 saidH559 to 8GodH430, Who am I, that I should goH3318 unto PharaohH6547, and that I should bringH3318 forthH3318 the children of IsraelH3478 out of EgyptH4714? 12And he saidH559, For I will beH1961 with thee; and this shall beH1961 the signH226 to thee that I have sentH7971 thee: when thou hast broughtH3318 forthH3318 the peopleH5971 out of EgyptH4714, ye shall serveH5647 9GodH430 upon this mountainH2022. 13And MosesH4872 saidH559 to 10GodH430, Behold, [when] I comeH935 unto the children of IsraelH3478, and shall sayH559 unto them, The 11GodH430 of your fathersH1 hath sentH7971 me unto you; and they shall sayH559, What is his nameH8034? what shall I sayH559 unto them? 14And 12GodH430 saidH559 to MosesH4872, I AMH1961 THAT I AMH1961. And he saidH559, ThusH3541 shalt thou sayH559 unto the children of IsraelH3478: I AMH1961 hath sentH7971 me unto you. 15And 13GodH430 saidH559 moreover to MosesH4872, ThusH3541 shalt thou sayH559 unto the children of IsraelH3478: Jehovah, the 14GodH430 of your fathersH1, the 15GodH430 of AbrahamH85, the 16GodH430 of IsaacH3327, and the 17GodH430 of JacobH3290, hath sentH7971 me unto you. This is my nameH8034 for everH5769, and this is my memorial unto all generationsH1755. 16Go and gatherH622 the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478 together, and sayH559 unto them, Jehovah the 18GodH430 of your fathersH1, the 19GodH430 of AbrahamH85, IsaacH3327, and JacobH3290, hath appearedH7200 to me, sayingH559, I have indeed visitedH6485 you, and [seenH7200] that which is done unto you in EgyptH4714; 17and I have saidH559, I will bringH5927 you up out of the affliction of EgyptH4714, unto the landH776 of the CanaanitesH3669, and the HittitesH2850, and the AmoritesH567, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a landH776 flowingH2100 with milkH2461 and honeyH1706. 18And they shall hearken to thy voiceH6963. And thou shalt comeH935, thou and the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478, unto the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, and ye shall sayH559 unto him, Jehovah, the 20GodH430 of the HebrewsH5680, hath metH7136 with us; and nowH6258, let us goH935, we pray thee, threeH7969 days' journeyH1870 into the wildernessH4057, that we may sacrificeH2076 to Jehovah our 21GodH430. 19But I knowH3045 that the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 will not let you goH1980, no, not by a powerful handH3027. 20And I will stretchH7971 out my handH3027 and smite EgyptH4713 with all my wondersH6381 which I will do in the midstH7130 thereof; and after that he will let you goH7971. 21And I will giveH5414 this peopleH5971 favour in the eyesH5869 of the EgyptiansH4713, and it shall come to pass, when ye go out, that ye shall not go out emptyH7387; 22but every womanH802 shall askH7592 of her neighbour, and of her that is the inmate of her houseH1004, utensilsH3627 of silverH3701, and utensilsH3627 of goldH2091, and clothingH8071; and ye shall putH7760 [them] on your sonsH1121 and on your daughtersH1323, and shall spoil the EgyptiansH4713.
