Exodus 14
American Standard Version
1And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 2SpeakH1696 unto the children of IsraelH3478, that they turnH7725 backH7725 and encampH2583 before Pi-hahirothH6367, between MigdolH4024 and the seaH3220, before Baal-zephonH1189: over against it shall ye encampH2583 by the seaH3220. 3And PharaohH6547 will sayH559 of the children of IsraelH3478, They are entangled in the landH776, the wildernessH4057 hath shutH5462 them in. 4And I will harden Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820, and he shall follow after them; and I will get me honorH3513 upon PharaohH6547, and upon all his host: and the EgyptiansH4713 shall knowH3045 that I am Jehovah. And they did soH3651. 5And it was toldH5046 the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 that the peopleH5971 were fledH1272: and the heartH3824 of PharaohH6547 and of his servantsH5650 was changedH2015 towards the peopleH5971, and they saidH559, What is this we have done, that we have let IsraelH3478 goH7971 from servingH5647 us? 6And he made ready his chariotH7393, and tookH3947 his peopleH5971 with him: 7and he tookH3947 sixH8337 hundredH3967 chosen chariotsH7393, and all the chariotsH7393 of EgyptH4714, and captains over all of them. 8And Jehovah hardened the heartH3820 of PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, and he pursuedH7291 after the children of IsraelH3478: for the children of IsraelH3478 wentH3318 out with a highH7311 handH3027. 9And the EgyptiansH4713 pursuedH7291 after them, all the horsesH5483 and chariotsH7393 of PharaohH6547, and his horsemenH6571, and his armyH2428, and overtookH5381 them encamping by the seaH3220, beside Pi-hahirothH6367, before Baal-zephonH1189.
10And when PharaohH6547 drewH7126 nigh, the children of IsraelH3478 liftedH5375 up their eyesH5869, and, behold, the EgyptiansH4713 were marching after them; and they were sore afraidH3372: and the children of IsraelH3478 criedH6817 out unto Jehovah. 11And they saidH559 unto MosesH4872, Because there were no gravesH6913 in EgyptH4714, hast thou takenH3947 us awayH3947 to dieH4191 in the wildernessH4057? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to bringH3318 us forthH3318 out of EgyptH4714? 12Is not this the wordH1697 that we spake unto thee in EgyptH4714, sayingH559, Let us alone, that we may serveH5647 the Egyptians? For it were betterH2896 for us to serveH5647 the Egyptians, than that we should dieH4191 in the wildernessH4057. 13And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto the peopleH5971, FearH3372 ye not, standH3320 stillH5750, and seeH7200 the salvationH3444 of Jehovah, which he will work for you to-day: for the EgyptiansH4713 whom ye have seenH7200 to-day, ye shall seeH7200 them againH5750 no more for everH5769. 14Jehovah will fightH3898 for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
15And Jehovah saidH559 unto MosesH4872, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speakH1696 unto the children of IsraelH3478, that they go forward. 16And liftH7311 thou up thy rodH4294, and stretchH5186 out thy handH3027 over the seaH3220, and divide it: and the children of IsraelH3478 shall goH935 into the midstH8432 of the seaH3220 on dryH3004 groundH3004. 17And I, behold, I will harden the heartsH3820 of the EgyptiansH4713, and they shall goH935 in after them: and I will get me honorH3513 upon PharaohH6547, and upon all his host, upon his chariotsH7393, and upon his horsemenH6571. 18And the EgyptiansH4713 shall knowH3045 that I am Jehovah, when I have gotten me honorH3513 upon PharaohH6547, upon his chariotsH7393, and upon his horsemenH6571. 19And the angelH4397 of GodH430, who wentH1980 before the campH4264 of IsraelH3478, removed and wentH1980 behind them; and the pillarH5982 of cloudH6051 removed from before them, and stoodH5975 behind them: 20and it cameH935 between the campH4264 of EgyptH4714 and the campH4264 of IsraelH3478; and there wasH1961 the cloudH6051 and the darknessH2822, yet gave it lightH215 by nightH3915: and the oneH2088 cameH935 not near the other all the nightH3915.
21And MosesH4872 stretchedH5186 out his handH3027 over the seaH3220; and Jehovah caused the seaH3220 to go back by a strongH5794 eastH6921 windH7307 all the nightH3915, and madeH7760 the seaH3220 dryH2724 land, and the watersH4325 were divided. 22And the children of IsraelH3478 wentH935 into the midstH8432 of the seaH3220 upon the dryH3004 groundH3004: and the watersH4325 were a wallH2346 unto them on their rightH3225 handH3225, and on their left. 23And the EgyptiansH4713 pursuedH7291, and wentH935 in after them into the midstH8432 of the seaH3220, all Pharaoh’s horsesH5483, his chariotsH7393, and his horsemenH6571. 24And it came to pass in the morningH1242 watchH821, that Jehovah lookedH8259 forth upon the host of the EgyptiansH4713 through the pillarH5982 of fireH784 and of cloudH6051, and discomfited the host of the EgyptiansH4713. 25And he took off their chariotH4818 wheelsH212, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians saidH559, Let us fleeH5127 from the faceH6440 of IsraelH3478; for Jehovah fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
26And Jehovah saidH559 unto MosesH4872, StretchH5186 out thy handH3027 over the seaH3220, that the watersH4325 may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariotsH7393, and upon their horsemenH6571. 27And MosesH4872 stretchedH5186 forth his handH3027 over the seaH3220, and the seaH3220 returnedH7725 to its strength when the morningH1242 appeared; and the Egyptians fledH5127 against it; and Jehovah overthrew the Egyptians in the midstH8432 of the seaH3220. 28And the watersH4325 returnedH7725, and coveredH3680 the chariotsH7393, and the horsemenH6571, even all the host of PharaohH6547 that wentH935 in after them into the seaH3220; there remainedH7604 not so much as oneH259 of them. 29But the children of IsraelH3478 walkedH1980 upon dryH3004 landH3004 in the midstH8432 of the seaH3220; and the watersH4325 were a wallH2346 unto them on their rightH3225 handH3225, and on their left. 30Thus Jehovah savedH3467 IsraelH3478 that dayH3117 out of the handH3027 of the Egyptians; and IsraelH3478 sawH7200 the Egyptians deadH4191 upon the sea-shore. 31And IsraelH3478 sawH7200 the greatH1419 work which Jehovah did upon the Egyptians, and the peopleH5971 fearedH3372 Jehovah: and they believedH539 in Jehovah, and in his servantH5650 MosesH4872.
