Exodus 4
Darby Bible
1And MosesH4872 answered and saidH559, But behold, they will not believeH539 me, nor hearken unto my voiceH6963; for they will sayH559, Jehovah has not appearedH7200 to thee. 2And Jehovah saidH559 to him, What is that in thy handH3027? And he saidH559, A staffH4294. 3And he saidH559, CastH7993 it on the groundH776. And he castH7993 it on the groundH776, and it becameH1961 a serpent; and MosesH4872 fledH5127 from before it. 4And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872, StretchH7971 out thy handH3027 and takeH2388 it by the tailH2180 — and he stretchedH7971 out his handH3027 and caught it, and it becameH1961 a staffH4294 in his handH3027 — 5that they may believeH539 that Jehovah, the 1GodH430 of their fathersH1, the 2GodH430 of AbrahamH85, the 3GodH430 of IsaacH3327, and the 4GodH430 of JacobH3290, hath appearedH7200 unto thee. 6And Jehovah saidH559 moreover to him, Put now thy handH3027 into thy bosomH2436. And he put his handH3027 into his bosomH2436, and took it out, and behold, his handH3027 was leprousH6879, as snowH7950. 7And he saidH559, Put thy handH3027 into thy bosomH2436 again. And he put his handH3027 into his bosomH2436 again, and took it out of his bosomH2436, and behold, it was turnedH7725 again as his fleshH1320. 8And it shall come to pass, if they will not believeH539 thee, neither hearken to the voiceH6963 of the firstH7223 signH226, that they will believeH539 the voiceH6963 of the other signH226. 9And it shall come to pass, if they will not believeH539 alsoH1571 those twoH8147 signsH226, neither hearken unto thy voiceH6963, that thou shalt takeH3947 of the waterH4325 of the riverH2975, and pourH8210 [it] on the dryH3004 [landH3004]; and the waterH4325 that thou takest out of the riverH2975 shall becomeH1961 bloodH1818 upon the dryH3004 [landH3004]. 10And MosesH4872 saidH559 to Jehovah, Ah Lord! I am not eloquent, neither heretofore nor since thou hast spokenH1696 to thy servantH5650, for I am slow of speech and of a slow tongueH3956. 11And Jehovah saidH559 to him, Who gave manH120 a mouthH6310? or who maketh dumb, or deafH2795, or seeing, or blindH5787? [have] not I, Jehovah? 12And nowH6258 go, and I will beH1961 with thy mouthH6310, and will teachH3384 thee what thou shalt sayH1696. 13And he saidH559, Ah LordH136! sendH7971, I pray thee, by the handH3027 [of him whom] thou wilt sendH7971. 14Then the angerH639 of Jehovah was kindled against MosesH4872, and he saidH559, Is not AaronH175 the LeviteH3881 thy brotherH251? I knowH3045 that he can speakH1696 wellH1571. And alsoH1571 behold, he goeth out to meet thee; and when he seeth thee he will be gladH8055 in his heartH3820. 15And thou shalt speakH1696 unto him, and putH7760 the wordsH1697 in his mouthH6310; and I will beH1961 with thy mouthH6310, and with his mouthH6310, and will teachH3384 you what ye shall do. 16And he shall speakH1696 for thee unto the peopleH5971; and it shall come to pass that he shall beH1961 to thee for a mouthH6310, and thou shalt beH1961 to him for 5GodH430. 17And thou shalt takeH3947 this staffH4294 in thy handH3027, with which thou shalt do the signsH226. 18And MosesH4872 wentH7725 and returnedH7725 to JethroH3503 his father-in-law, and saidH559 to him, Let me goH7725, I pray thee, and returnH7725 to my brethren who are in EgyptH4714, that I may seeH7200 whether they are yetH5750 aliveH2416. And JethroH3503 saidH559 to MosesH4872, GoH7725 in peaceH7965. 19And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872 in MidianH4080, GoH7725, returnH7725 to EgyptH4714; for all the menH376 are deadH4191 who soughtH1245 thy lifeH5315. 20And MosesH4872 tookH3947 his wifeH802 and his sonsH1121, and set them ridingH7392 upon an ass, and he returnedH7725 to the landH776 of EgyptH4714. And MosesH4872 tookH3947 the staffH4294 of 6GodH430 in his handH3027. 21And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872, WhenH834 thou goest to returnH7725 to EgyptH4714, seeH7200 that thou do all the wondersH4159 before PharaohH6547 that I have putH7760 in thy handH3027. And I will harden his heartH3820, that he shall not let the peopleH5971 goH7971. 22And thou shalt sayH559 to PharaohH6547, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: IsraelH3478 is my sonH1121, my firstbornH1060. 23And I sayH559 to thee, Let my sonH1121 goH7971, that he may serveH5647 me. And if thou refuseH3985 to let him goH7971, behold, I will killH2026 thy sonH1121, thy firstbornH1060. 24And it came to pass on the wayH1870, in the inn, that Jehovah came upon him, and soughtH1245 to slay him. 25Then ZipporahH6855 tookH3947 a stone and cutH3772 off the foreskinH6190 of her sonH1121, and cast it at his feetH7272, and saidH559, A bloody husband indeed art thou to me! 26And he let him goH7503. ThenH227 she saidH559, A bloody husband — because of the circumcision. 27And Jehovah saidH559 to AaronH175, Go into the wildernessH4057 to meetH6298 MosesH4872. And he went, and metH6298 him on the mountainH2022 of 7GodH430, and kissedH5401 him. 28And MosesH4872 toldH5046 AaronH175 all the wordsH1697 of Jehovah who had sentH7971 him, and all the signsH226 that he had commandedH6680 him. 29And MosesH4872 and AaronH175 went and gatheredH622 all the eldersH2205 of the children of IsraelH3478; 30and AaronH175 spokeH1696 all the wordsH1697 that Jehovah had spokenH1696 to MosesH4872, and did the signsH226 before the eyesH5869 of the peopleH5971. 31And the peopleH5971 believedH539. And when they heardH8085 that Jehovah had visitedH6485 the children of IsraelH3478, and that he had seenH7200 their affliction, then they bowedH7812 their heads and worshipped.
