Samuel 20:24-40

And DavidH1732 hidH5641 himself in the fieldH7704; and it wasH1961 the newH2320 moonH2320, and the kingH4428 satH3427 at table to eatH398.

And the kingH4428 satH3427 on his seatH4186, as at other timesH6471, on the seatH4186 by the wallH7023; and JonathanH3083 aroseH6965, and AbnerH74 satH3427 by Saul's sideH6654, and David's placeH4725 was empty.

And SaulH7586 saidH559 nothing that dayH3117; for he thought, Something has befallen [him], that he is not cleanH2889: surely he is not cleanH2889.

And it cameH935 to pass the nextH4283 dayH3117 after the newH2320 moonH2320, the secondH8145 [dayH3117 of the monthH2320], as David's placeH4725 wasH1961 empty, that SaulH7586 saidH559 to JonathanH3083 his sonH1121, WhyH4069 has not the sonH1121 of JesseH3448 comeH935 to table, neither yesterdayH8543 nor to-day?

And JonathanH3083 answeredH6030 SaulH7586, DavidH1732 earnestly askedH7592 leave of me [to go] to Bethlehem,

and saidH559, Let me goH935, I pray thee; for we have a familyH4940 sacrificeH2077 in the cityH5892; and my brotherH251 himself has commandedH6680 me [to be there]; and nowH6258, if I have foundH4672 favour in thy sight, let me goH935 awayH7971, I pray thee, and seeH7200 my brethren. He has thereforeH3651 not comeH935 to the king's tableH7979.

And Saul's angerH639 was kindled against JonathanH3083, and he saidH559 to him, SonH1121 of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I knowH3045 that thou hast chosenH977 the sonH1121 of JesseH3448 to thine own shameH1322 and to the shameH1322 of thy mother's nakednessH6172?

For as long as the sonH1121 of JesseH3448 lives upon earthH127, thou shalt not be establishedH3559, nor thy kingdomH4438. And nowH6258 sendH7971 and fetch him to me, for he must die.

And JonathanH3083 answered SaulH7586 his fatherH1, and saidH559 to him, WhyH4100 should he be putH4191 to deathH4191? what has he done?

Then SaulH7586 cast the spearH2595 at him to smite him; and JonathanH3083 knewH3045 that it was determined by his fatherH1 to putH4191 DavidH1732 to deathH4191.

And JonathanH3083 aroseH6965 from the tableH7979 in fierce angerH639, and ateH398 no meat the secondH8145 dayH3117 of the newH2320 moonH2320; for he was grieved for DavidH1732, because his fatherH1 had done him shameH3637.

And it came to pass in the morningH1242 that JonathanH3083 wentH3318 out into the fieldH7704, to the place agreed on with DavidH1732, and a littleH6996 ladH5288 with him.

And he saidH559 to his ladH5288, RunH7323, findH4672 now the arrowsH2678 which I shootH3384. The ladH5288 ranH7323, and he shotH3384 the arrowH2678 beyond him.

And whenH834 the ladH5288 cameH935 to the placeH4725 of the arrowH2678 which JonathanH3083 had shotH3384, JonathanH3083 cried after the ladH5288 and saidH559, Is not the arrowH2678 away beyond thee?

And JonathanH3083 cried after the ladH5288, Make speed, haste, stay not! And Jonathan's ladH5288 gatheredH3950 up the arrowsH2678, and cameH935 to his masterH113.

And the ladH5288 knewH3045 nothing: onlyH389 JonathanH3083 and DavidH1732 knewH3045 the matterH1697.

And JonathanH3083 gaveH5414 his weaponsH3627 to his ladH5288, and saidH559 to him, GoH935, carry them to the cityH5892.
