Jeremiah 5:1-9
1Run ye to and fro through the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389, and seeH7200 now, and knowH3045, and seekH1245 in the broad places thereof, if ye can findH4672 a manH376, if there be any that doeth justly, that seeketh truth; and I will pardon her. 2And though they sayH559, As Jehovah liveth; surely they swearH7650 falsely. 3O Jehovah, do not thine eyesH5869 look upon truth? thou hast stricken them, but they were not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refusedH3985 to receiveH3947 correctionH4148: they have madeH2388 their facesH6440 harder than a rockH5553; they have refusedH3985 to returnH7725.
4Then I saidH559, Surely these are poorH1800; they are foolish; for they knowH3045 not the wayH1870 of Jehovah, nor the law of their GodH430: 5I will get me unto the greatH1419 men, and will speakH1696 unto them; for they knowH3045 the wayH1870 of Jehovah, and the law of their GodH430. But these with one accord have brokenH7665 the yokeH5923, and burst the bonds. 6Wherefore a lionH738 out of the forestH3293 shall slay them, a wolfH2061 of the evenings shall destroyH7703 them, a leopardH5246 shall watchH8245 against their citiesH5892; every one that goeth out thence shall be tornH2963 in pieces; because their transgressionsH6588 are manyH7231, and their backslidings are increased.
7How can I pardon thee? thy children have forsaken me, and swornH7650 by them that are no godsH430. When I had fed them to the full, they committedH5003 adulteryH5003, and assembled themselves in troops at the harlots’ housesH1004; 8they wereH1961 as fed horsesH5483 roaming at large; every oneH376 neighed after his neighbor’sH7453 wifeH802. 9Shall I not visitH6485 for these thingsH428? saith Jehovah; and shall not my soulH5315 be avengedH5358 on such a nationH1471 as this?
