Jeremiah 38:14-22
14Then ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 sentH7971, and tookH3947 JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030 unto him into the thirdH7992 entry that is in the houseH1004 of Jehovah: and the kingH4428 saidH559 unto JeremiahH3414, I will askH7592 thee a thingH1697; hideH3582 nothing from me. 15Then JeremiahH3414 saidH559 unto ZedekiahH6667, If I declareH5046 it unto thee, wilt thou not surely putH4191 me to deathH4191? and if I give thee counselH3289, thou wilt not hearken unto me. 16So ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 sware secretly unto JeremiahH3414, sayingH559, As Jehovah liveth, that madeH6213 us this soulH5315, I will not putH5414 thee to deathH4191, neither will I giveH5414 thee into the handH3027 of these menH376 that seekH1245 thy lifeH5315.
17Then saidH559 JeremiahH3414 unto ZedekiahH6667, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah, the GodH430 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: If thou wilt goH3318 forthH3318 unto the kingH4428 of Babylon’s princesH8269, then thy soulH5315 shall liveH2421, and this cityH5892 shall not be burnedH8313 with fireH784; and thou shalt liveH2421, and thy houseH1004. 18But if thou wilt not goH3318 forthH3318 to the kingH4428 of Babylon’s princesH8269, then shall this cityH5892 be givenH5414 into the handH3027 of the ChaldeansH3778, and they shall burnH8313 it with fireH784, and thou shalt not escapeH4422 out of their handH3027. 19And ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 saidH559 unto JeremiahH3414, I am afraid of the JewsH3064 that are fallenH5307 away to the ChaldeansH3778, lestH6435 they deliver me into their handH3027, and they mock me. 20But JeremiahH3414 saidH559, They shall not deliver thee. Obey, I beseech thee, the voiceH6963 of Jehovah, in that which I speakH1696 unto thee: so it shall be wellH3190 with thee, and thy soulH5315 shall liveH2421. 21But if thou refuse to goH3318 forthH3318, this is the wordH1697 that Jehovah hath showedH7200 me: 22Behold, all the womenH802 that are leftH7604 in the kingH4428 of Judah’s houseH1004 shall be broughtH3318 forthH3318 to the kingH4428 of Babylon’s princesH8269, and those womenH802 shall sayH559, Thy familiar friends have set thee on, and have prevailedH3201 over thee: now that thy feetH7272 are sunkH2883 in the mire, they are turnedH5472 away backH268.
