Jeremiah 22:1-19
1ThusH3541 saidH559 Jehovah: GoH3381 down to the houseH1004 of the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and speakH1696 there this wordH1697, 2and sayH559, HearH8085 the wordH1697 of Jehovah, O kingH4428 of JudahH3063, that sittest upon the throneH3678 of DavidH1732, thou, and thy servantsH5650, and thy peopleH5971 that enter in by these gatesH8179. 3ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: Execute ye justiceH4941 and righteousnessH6666, and deliverH5337 him that is robbedH1497 out of the handH3027 of the oppressorH3238: and do no wrong, do no violenceH2554, to the sojournerH1616, the fatherlessH3490, nor the widowH490; neither shedH8210 innocentH5355 bloodH1818 in this placeH4725. 4For if ye do this thingH1697 indeed, then shall there enter in by the gatesH8179 of this houseH1004 kingsH4428 sittingH3427 upon the throneH3678 of DavidH1732, ridingH7392 in chariotsH7393 and on horsesH5483, he, and his servantsH5650, and his peopleH5971. 5But if ye will not hearH8085 these wordsH1697, I swearH7650 by myself, saith Jehovah, that this houseH1004 shall becomeH1961 a desolationH2723. 6For thusH3541 saith Jehovah concerning the houseH1004 of the kingH4428 of JudahH3063: Thou art GileadH1568 unto me, and the headH7218 of LebanonH3844; yet surely I will makeH7896 thee a wildernessH4057, and citiesH5892 which are not inhabitedH3427. 7And I will prepare destroyersH7843 against thee, every oneH376 with his weaponsH3627; and they shall cutH3772 down thy choice cedarsH730, and castH5307 them into the fireH784. 8And manyH7227 nationsH1471 shall passH5674 by this cityH5892, and they shall sayH559 every manH376 to his neighborH7453, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thusH3602 unto this greatH1419 cityH5892? 9Then they shall answer, Because they forsook the covenantH1285 of Jehovah their GodH430, and worshipped otherH312 godsH430, and servedH5647 them.
10WeepH1058 ye not for the deadH4191, neither bemoan him; but weepH1058 sore for him that goeth awayH7725; for he shall returnH7725 no more, nor seeH7200 his native country. 11For thusH3541 saith Jehovah touching ShallumH7967 the sonH1121 of JosiahH2977, kingH4428 of JudahH3063, who reignedH4427 instead of JosiahH2977 his fatherH1, and who wentH3318 forthH3318 out of this placeH4725: He shall not returnH7725 thither any moreH4480; 12but in the placeH4725 whither they have led him captive, there shall he dieH4191, and he shall seeH7200 this landH776 no more.
13WoeH1945 unto him that buildeth his houseH1004 by unrighteousness, and his chambersH5944 by injustice; that useth his neighbor’sH7453 service without wagesH6467, and giveth him not his hire; 14that saith, I will buildH1129 me a wide houseH1004 and spacious chambersH5944, and cutteth him out windowsH2474; and it is ceiled with cedarH730, and painted with vermilionH8350. 15Shalt thou reignH4427, because thou strivest to excel in cedarH730? Did not thy fatherH1 eatH398 and drinkH8354, and do justiceH4941 and righteousnessH6666? thenH227 it was well with him. 16He judged the causeH1779 of the poorH6041 and needyH34; thenH227 it was well. Was not this to know me? saith Jehovah. 17But thine eyesH5869 and thy heartH3820 are not but for thy covetousness, and for sheddingH8210 innocentH5355 bloodH1818, and for oppressionH6233, and for violence, to do it. 18ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah concerningH413 JehoiakimH3079 the sonH1121 of JosiahH2977, kingH4428 of JudahH3063: they shall not lamentH5594 for him, sayingH559, Ah my brotherH251! or, Ah sisterH269! They shall not lamentH5594 for him, sayingH559 Ah lord! or, Ah his glory! 19He shall be buriedH6912 with the burialH6900 of an ass, drawn and castH7993 forth beyond the gatesH8179 of JerusalemH3389.
