Genesis 19
Revised Version 1895
1And the twoH8147 angelsH4397 cameH935 to SodomH5467 at evenH776; and LotH3876 satH3427 in the gateH8179 of SodomH5467: and LotH3876 sawH7200 them, and roseH6965 upH6965 to meetH7125 them; and he bowedH7812 himselfH7812 with his faceH639 to the earthH776; 2and he saidH559, BeholdH2009 nowH4994, my lordsH113, turnH5493 asideH5493, I prayH4994 youH3588, intoH413 your servant’sH5650 houseH1004, and tarry allH2009 night, and washH7364 your feetH7272, and ye shall riseH7925 upH7925 earlyH7925, and goH1980 on your wayH1870. And they saidH559, Nay; but weH3588 will abide in the streetH1870 allH2009 night. 3And he urgedH6484 them greatlyH3966; and they turnedH5493 in unto him, and enteredH935 intoH413 his houseH1004; and he madeH6213 them a feastH4960, and didH6213 bakeH644 unleavenedH4682 breadH4682, and they didH6213 eatH398. 4But beforeH2962 they layH7901 downH7901, the menH376 of the cityH5892, evenH5704 the menH376 of SodomH5467, compassed the houseH1004 roundH5437, bothH3605 youngH5288 and oldH2205, allH3605 the peopleH5971 from everyH3605 quarter; 5and they calledH7121 unto LotH3876, and saidH559 unto him, WhereH834 are the menH376 whichH834 cameH935 in to thee this nightH3915? bringH935 them outH3318 unto usH413, that weH834 may knowH3045 them. 6And LotH3876 wentH3318 outH3318 unto them to the doorH1817, and shutH5462 the doorH1817 afterH310 him. 7And he saidH559, I prayH4994 you, my brethrenH251, doH408 notH408 soH408 wickedly. 8BeholdH2009 nowH4994, I have twoH8147 daughtersH1323 whichH834 have notH3808 knownH3045 manH376; letH4994 meH413, I prayH4994 youH834, bringH935 them outH3318 unto youH834, and doH6213 ye to them as is goodH2896 in your eyesH5869: onlyH7535 unto theseH411 menH376 doH6213 nothingH3808; forasmuch as they are comeH935 underH5921 the shadowH6738 of my roofH6982. 9And they saidH559, StandH935 backH935. And they saidH559, This one fellowH376 cameH935 in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judgeH8199: nowH6258 will weH6258 dealH3966 worse with thee, than with them. And they pressedH6484 sore uponH935 the manH376, even LotH3876, and drewH5066 nearH5066 to breakH7665 the doorH1817. 10But the menH376 putH7971 forthH7971 their handH3027, and broughtH935 LotH3876 intoH413 the houseH1004 to them, and shutH5462 to the doorH1817. 11And they smoteH5221 the menH376 that were at the doorH6607 of the houseH1004 with blindnessH5575, both smallH6996 and greatH1419: soH834 that they weariedH3811 themselvesH6607 to findH4672 the doorH6607. 12And the menH376 saidH559 unto LotH3876, Hast thou hereH6311 anyH3605 besidesH5750? sonH1121 in law, and thy sonsH1121, and thy daughtersH1323, and whomsoever thou hast in the cityH5892; bringH3318 them outH3318 of the placeH4725: 13for weH587 will destroyH7843 this placeH4725, becauseH3588 the cryH6818 of them is waxen greatH1431 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068; and the LORDH3068 hath sentH7971 usH3588 to destroyH7843 it. 14And LotH3876 wentH3318 outH3318, and spake unto his sons in law, whichH5869 marriedH3947 his daughtersH1323, and saidH559, UpH6965, getH3947 youH3588 outH3318 of this placeH4725; for the LORDH3068 will destroyH7843 the cityH5892. But he seemedH5869 unto his sons in law as one that mocked. 15And when the morningH7837 aroseH6965, then the angelsH4397 hastened LotH3876, sayingH559, AriseH6965, takeH3947 thy wifeH802, and thy twoH8147 daughtersH1323 whichH802 are hereH4672; lestH6435 thou be consumed in the iniquityH5771 of the cityH5892. 16But he lingered; and the menH376 laidH2388 holdH2388 uponH5921 his handH3027, and uponH5921 the handH3027 of his wifeH802, and uponH5921 the handH3027 of his twoH8147 daughtersH1323; the LORDH3068 being merciful unto him: and they broughtH3318 him forthH3318, and setH3318 him without the cityH5892. 17And it cameH1961 to passH1961, when they had broughtH3318 them forthH3318 abroadH2351, that he saidH559, EscapeH4422 for thy lifeH5315; lookH5027 notH408 behindH310 thee, neitherH408 stayH5975 thou in allH3605 the PlainH3603; escapeH4422 to the mountainH2022, lestH6435 thou be consumed. 18And LotH3876 saidH559 unto them, OhH4994, notH408 soH408, my lordH136: 19beholdH2009 nowH4994, thy servantH5650 hath foundH4672 graceH2580 in thy sightH5869, and thou hast magnifiedH1431 thy mercy, whichH834 thou hast shewed unto meH4994 in saving my lifeH5315; and I cannotH3808 escapeH4422 to the mountainH2022, lestH6435 evilH7451 overtakeH4672 meH4994, and I dieH4191: 20beholdH2009 nowH4994, this cityH5892 is nearH7138 to fleeH5127 unto, and it is a littleH4705 one: OhH4994, letH4994 meH4994 escapeH4422 thither, (is it notH3808 a littleH4705 one?) and my soulH5315 shall liveH2421. 21And he saidH559 unto him, SeeH2009, I have accepted thee concerning this thingH1697 also, that I will notH1115 overthrowH2015 the cityH5892 of whichH834 thou hast spokenH1696. 22HasteH4116 thee, escapeH4422 thither; for I cannotH3808 doH6213 anyH3588 thingH1697 tillH5704 thou be comeH935 thither. Therefore the nameH8034 of the cityH5892 was calledH7121 ZoarH6820. 23The sunH8121 was risenH3318 uponH5921 the earthH776 when LotH3876 cameH935 unto ZoarH6820. 24Then the LORDH3068 rainedH4305 uponH5921 SodomH5467 and uponH5921 GomorrahH6017 brimstoneH1614 and fireH784 from the LORDH3068 outH4480 of heavenH8064; 25and he overthrewH2015 thoseH3605 citiesH5892, and allH3605 the PlainH3603, and allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of the citiesH5892, and that which grewH6780 uponH3427 the groundH127. 26But his wifeH802 lookedH5027 backH310 from behindH310 him, and sheH310 becameH1961 a pillarH5333 of saltH4417. 27And AbrahamH85 gat upH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242 to the placeH4725 whereH834 he had stoodH5975 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068: 28and he lookedH7200 towardH5921 SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017, and towardH5921 allH3605 the landH776 of the PlainH3603, and beheld, and, loH2009, the smokeH7008 of the landH776 wentH5927 upH5927 as the smokeH7008 of a furnaceH3536. 29And it cameH1961 to passH1961, when GodH430 destroyedH7843 the citiesH5892 of the PlainH3603, that GodH430 rememberedH2142 AbrahamH85, and sentH7971 LotH3876 outH7971 of the midstH8432 of the overthrowH2015, when he overthrewH2015 the citiesH5892 in the whichH834 LotH3876 dweltH3427. 30And LotH3876 wentH5927 upH5927 outH3427 of ZoarH6820, and dweltH3427 in the mountainH2022, and his twoH8147 daughtersH1323 with him; for he fearedH3372 to dwellH3427 in ZoarH6820: and he dweltH3427 in a caveH4631, he and his twoH8147 daughtersH1323. 31And the firstbornH1067 saidH559 unto the youngerH6810, Our fatherH1 is oldH2204, and there is notH369 a manH376 in the earthH776 to comeH935 in unto usH413 afterH5921 the mannerH1870 of allH3605 the earthH776: 32come, let usH8248 makeH7901 our fatherH1 drinkH8248 wineH3196, and we will lieH7901 with him, that we may preserveH2421 seedH2233 of our fatherH1. 33And they madeH3045 their fatherH1 drinkH8248 wineH3196 that nightH3915: and the firstbornH1067 wentH935 in, and layH7901 with herH935 fatherH1; and he knewH3045 notH3808 when sheH1931 layH7901 downH7901, norH3808 when sheH1931 aroseH6965. 34And it cameH935 to passH935 on the morrow, that the firstbornH1067 saidH559 unto the youngerH6810, BeholdH2005, I layH7901 yesternight with my fatherH1: letH1961 usH413 makeH7901 him drinkH8248 wineH3196 this nightH3915 also; and goH935 thou in, and lieH7901 with him, that weH2005 may preserveH2421 seedH2233 of our fatherH1. 35And they madeH3045 their fatherH1 drinkH8248 wineH3196 that nightH3915 also: and the youngerH6810 aroseH6965, and layH7901 with him; and he knewH3045 notH3808 when sheH1931 layH7901 downH7901, norH3808 when sheH1931 aroseH6965. 36Thus were bothH8147 the daughtersH1323 of LotH3876 with childH2029 by their fatherH1. 37And the firstbornH1067 bare a sonH1121, and calledH7121 his nameH8034 MoabH4124: the sameH1931 is the fatherH1 of the MoabitesH4124 unto this dayH3117. 38And the youngerH6810, sheH1931 also bare a sonH1121, and calledH7121 his nameH8034 Ben-ammiH1151: the sameH1931 is the fatherH1 of the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983 unto this dayH3117.
