Numbers 35

1And Jehovah spokeH1696 to MosesH4872 in the plainsH6160 of MoabH4124 by the JordanH3383 of JerichoH3405, sayingH559, 2CommandH6680 the children of IsraelH3478, that of the inheritanceH5159 of their possessionH272 they giveH5414 unto the LevitesH3881 citiesH5892 to dwellH3427 in; and a suburb for the citiesH5892 roundH5439 about them shall ye giveH5414 unto the LevitesH3881. 3And the citiesH5892 shall they have to dwellH3427 in, and their suburbs shall beH1961 for their cattleH929, and for their goods, and for all their beasts. 4And the suburbs of the citiesH5892 that ye shall giveH5414 unto the LevitesH3881 shall be from the wallsH7023 of the cityH5892 outward, a thousandH505 cubitsH520 roundH5439 about. 5And ye shall measureH4058, without the cityH5892, the eastH6924 sideH6285 two thousandH505 cubitsH520, and the southH5045 sideH6285 two thousandH505 cubitsH520, and the westH3220 sideH6285 two thousandH505 cubitsH520, and the northH6828 sideH6285 two thousandH505 cubitsH520, and the cityH5892 shall beH1961 in the midstH8432: they shall have this as suburbs of the citiesH5892. 6And [among] the citiesH5892 that ye shall giveH5414 unto the LevitesH3881 [shall be] the sixH8337 citiesH5892 of refugeH4733, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may fleeH5127 thither, — and besides them ye shall giveH5414 forty-two citiesH5892: 7all the citiesH5892 that ye shall giveH5414 to the LevitesH3881 shall be forty-eight citiesH5892, they and their suburbs. 8And the citiesH5892 which ye shall giveH5414 shall be of the possessionH272 of the children of IsraelH3478: from them that have muchH7235 ye shall takeH5157 muchH7235, and from them that have littleH4592 ye shall takeH5157 littleH4592; each oneH376 according to his inheritanceH5159 which he will inheritH5157 shall giveH5414 of his citiesH5892 to the LevitesH3881. 9And Jehovah spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 10SpeakH1696 unto the children of IsraelH3478, and sayH559 unto them, When ye passH5674 over the JordanH3383 into the landH776 of CanaanH3667, 11then ye shall appoint for yourselves citiesH5892: citiesH5892 of refugeH4733 shall they beH1961 for you; that a manslayer may fleeH5127 thither, who without intent smiteth a personH5315 mortally. 12And ye shall have these citiesH5892 for refugeH4733 from the avengerH1350; that the manslayer dieH4191 not, until he have stoodH5975 before the assemblyH5712 in judgmentH4941. 13And the citiesH5892 that ye shall giveH5414 shall beH1961 sixH8337 citiesH5892 of refugeH4733 for you. 14ThreeH7969 citiesH5892 shall ye giveH5414 on this sideH5676 of the JordanH3383, and threeH7969 citiesH5892 shall ye giveH5414 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667; they shall beH1961 citiesH5892 of refugeH4733. 15For the children of IsraelH3478, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them shall these sixH8337 citiesH5892 beH1961 a refugeH4733, that one who smiteth a personH5315 mortally without intent may fleeH5127 thither. 16And if he have smitten him with an instrument of ironH1270, so that he dieH4191, he is a murdererH7523: the murdererH7523 shall certainlyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. 17And if he have smitten him with a stoneH68 from the handH3027, wherewith one may dieH4191, and he dieH4191, he is a murdererH7523: the murdererH7523 shall certainlyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. 18Or if he have smitten him with an instrument of woodH6086, in the handH3027, wherewith one may dieH4191, and he dieH4191, he is a murdererH7523: the murdererH7523 shall certainlyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191; 19the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818, he shall putH4191 the murdererH7523 to deathH4191; when he meeteth him, he shall putH4191 him to deathH4191. 20And if he thrust at him out of hatredH8135, or hurl at him intentionally, so that he dieH4191, 21or from enmityH342 smite him with his handH3027, so that he dieH4191, he that smote him shall certainlyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191; he is a murdererH7523: the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 shall putH4191 the murdererH7523 to deathH4191, when he meeteth him. — 22But if he have thrust at him suddenlyH6621 without enmityH342, or have castH7993 upon him anything unintentionally, 23or [have smitten him] with any stoneH68 wherewith one may dieH4191, without seeingH7200 him, and have castH5307 it upon him so that he dieH4191, and he was not his enemyH341, neither soughtH1245 his harmH7451: 24then the assemblyH5712 shall judgeH8199 between the smiter and the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 according to these judgmentsH4941; 25and the assemblyH5712 shall rescueH5337 the manslayer out of the handH3027 of the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818, and the assemblyH5712 shall restoreH7725 him to the cityH5892 of his refugeH4733, whither he had fledH5127; and he shall abide in it until the deathH4194 of the high-priest, who was anointedH4886 with the holyH6944 oilH8081. 26But if the manslayer shall in any way comeH3318 outside the limits of the cityH5892 of his refugeH4733 whither he hath fledH5127, 27and the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 findH4672 him outside the limits of his cityH5892 of refugeH4733, and the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 kill the manslayer, there shall be no blood-guiltiness upon him; 28for the manslayer should have remainedH3427 in the cityH5892 of his refugeH4733 until the deathH4194 of the high-priest; but after the deathH4194 of the high-priest he may returnH7725 into the landH776 of his possessionH272. 29And this shall beH1961 unto you a statuteH2708 of rightH4941 throughout your generationsH1755 in all your dwellingsH4186. 30Whoever shall smite a personH5315 mortally, at the mouthH6310 of witnessesH5707 shall the murdererH7523 be putH4191 to deathH4191; but oneH259 witnessH5707 shall not testifyH6030 against a personH5315 to cause him to dieH4191. 31And ye shall takeH3947 no satisfaction for the lifeH5315 of a murdererH7523, who is guiltyH7563 of deathH4191, but he shall certainly be putH4191 to deathH4191. 32And ye shall takeH3947 no satisfaction for him that hath fledH5127 to the cityH5892 of his refugeH4733, that he should come again to dwellH3427 in the landH776, until the deathH4194 of the priestH3548. 33And ye shall not polluteH2610 the landH776 wherein ye are; for bloodH1818, it polluteth the landH776; and there can be no atonementH3722 made for the landH776, for the bloodH1818 that hath been shedH8210 therein, but by the bloodH1818 of him that shedH8210 it. 34And ye shall not defileH2930 the landH776 that ye inhabitH3427, in the midstH8432 whereof I dwellH3427; for I am Jehovah who dwellH3427 in the midstH8432 of the children of IsraelH3478.
