Darby Bible

1And the whole assemblyH5712 liftedH5375 up their voiceH6963, and cried; and the peopleH5971 weptH1058 that nightH3915. 2And all the children of IsraelH3478 murmured against MosesH4872 and against AaronH175; and the whole assemblyH5712 saidH559 to them, Would that we had diedH4191 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714! or in this wildernessH4057 would that we had diedH4191! 3And whyH4100 is Jehovah bringingH935 us to this landH776 that we may fallH5307 by the swordH2719, that our wivesH802 and our littleH2945 onesH2945 may becomeH1961 a preyH957? Is it not betterH2896 for us to returnH7725 to EgyptH4714? 4And they saidH559 oneH376 to another, Let us makeH5414 a captain, and let us returnH7725 to EgyptH4714. 5Then MosesH4872 and AaronH175 fellH5307 upon their facesH6440 before the whole congregationH5712 of the assemblyH6951 of the children of IsraelH3478. 6And JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, and CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312, of them that searched out the landH776, rent their garmentsH899. 7And they spoke to the whole assemblyH5712 of the children of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, The landH776, which we passedH5674 through to search it out, is a veryH3966, veryH3966 goodH2896 landH776. 8If Jehovah delightH2654 in us, he will bringH935 us into this landH776, and giveH5414 it us, a landH776 that flowsH2100 with milkH2461 and honeyH1706; 9onlyH389 rebelH4775 not against Jehovah; and fearH3372 not the peopleH5971 of the landH776; for they shall be our foodH3899. Their defence is departedH5493 from them, and Jehovah is with us: fearH3372 them not. 10And the whole assemblyH5712 saidH559 that they should be stonedH7275 with stonesH68. And the gloryH3519 of Jehovah appearedH7200 in the tentH168 of meetingH4150 to all the children of IsraelH3478. 11And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872, How long will this peopleH5971 despise me? and how long will they not believeH539 me, for all the signsH226 which I have done among them? 12I will smite them with the pestilenceH1698, and destroy them, and will makeH6213 of thee a nationH1471 greaterH1419 and mightierH6099 than they. 13And MosesH4872 saidH559 to Jehovah, Then the EgyptiansH4713 will hearH8085 it; for in thy might thou broughtest up this peopleH5971 from the midstH7130 of them; 14and they will tell it to the inhabitantsH3427 of this landH776, [who] have heardH8085 that thou, Jehovah, art in the midstH7130 of this peopleH5971, that thou, Jehovah, lettest thyself be seenH7200 eyeH5869 to eyeH5869, and that thy cloudH6051 standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, in a pillarH5982 of cloudH6051 by dayH3119, and in a pillarH5982 of fireH784 by nightH3915; 15if thou now slayest this peopleH5971 as oneH259 manH376, then the nationsH1471 that have heardH8085 thy fame will speak, sayingH559, 16Because Jehovah was not ableH3201 to bringH935 this peopleH5971 into the landH776 that he had swornH7650 unto them, he has therefore slain them in the wildernessH4057. 17And nowH6258, I beseech thee, let the powerH3581 of the LordH136 be greatH1431, according as thou hast spokenH1696, sayingH559, 18Jehovah is slow to angerH639, and abundant in goodness, forgivingH5375 iniquityH5771 and transgressionH6588, but by no means clearing [the guilty], visitingH6485 the iniquityH5771 of the fathersH1 upon the children, upon the thirdH8029 and fourthH7256 [generationH8029]. 19Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquityH5771 of this peopleH5971 according to the greatnessH1433 of thy loving-kindness, and as thou hast forgivenH5545 this peopleH5971, from EgyptH4714 even until now. 20And Jehovah saidH559, I have pardoned according to thy wordH1697. 21But as surely as I live, all the earthH776 shall be filledH4390 with the gloryH3519 of Jehovah! 22for all those menH376 who have seenH7200 my gloryH3519, and my signsH226, which I did in EgyptH4714 and in the wildernessH4057, and have tempted me these tenH6235 timesH6471, and have not hearkened to my voiceH6963, 23shall in no wise seeH7200 the landH776 which I did swearH7650 unto their fathersH1: none of them that despised me shall seeH7200 it. 24But my servantH5650 CalebH3612, because he hath another spiritH7307 in him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bringH935 into the landH776 whereinto he cameH935; and his seedH2233 shall possessH3423 it. 25(Now the Amalekites and the CanaanitesH3669 dwellH3427 in the valleyH6010.) To-morrow turnH6437 you, and take your journeyH1870 into the wildernessH4057, on the wayH1870 to the Red seaH3220. 26And Jehovah spokeH1696 to MosesH4872 and to AaronH175, sayingH559, 27How long [shall I bear] with this evilH7451 assemblyH5712, which murmur against me? I have heardH8085 the murmurings of the children of IsraelH3478, which they murmur against me. 28SayH559 unto them, As surely as I live, saith Jehovah, if I do not do unto you as ye have spokenH1696 in mine earsH241! 29In this wildernessH4057 shall your carcases fallH5307; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole numberH4557 from twentyH6242 yearsH8141 old and upwardsH4605, who have murmured against me, 30shall in no wise comeH935 into the landH776, concerningH413 which I have liftedH5375 up my handH3027 to make you dwellH7931 in it; save CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312, and JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126. 31But your littleH2945 onesH2945, of whom ye saidH559 they should beH1961 a preyH957, them will I bringH935 in, and they shall knowH3045 the landH776 that ye have despised. 32And as to you, your carcases shall fallH5307 in this wildernessH4057. 33And your children shall wander in the wildernessH4057 fortyH705 yearsH8141, and bearH5375 your whoredoms, until your carcases beH1961 wasted in the wildernessH4057. 34After the numberH4557 of the daysH3117 in which ye have searched out the landH776, fortyH705 daysH3117, each dayH3117 for a yearH8141 shall ye bearH5375 your iniquitiesH5771 fortyH705 yearsH8141, and ye shall knowH3045 mine estrangement [from you]. 35I Jehovah have spokenH1696; I will surely do it unto all this evilH7451 assemblyH5712 which have gatheredH3259 togetherH3259 against me! in this wildernessH4057 they shall be consumed, and there they shall dieH4191. 36And the menH376 whom MosesH4872 had sentH7971 to search out the landH776, who returnedH7725, and made the whole assemblyH5712 to murmur against him, by bringingH3318 up an evilH1681 reportH1681 upon the landH776, 37even those menH376 who had broughtH3318 up an evilH7451 reportH1681 upon the landH776, diedH4191 by a plagueH4046 before Jehovah. 38But JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, and CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312, livedH2421 still of the menH376 that had goneH1980 to search out the landH776. 39And MosesH4872 told all these sayings to all the children of IsraelH3478; then the peopleH5971 mournedH56 greatly. 40And they roseH7925 up earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and wentH5927 up to the hill-top, sayingH559, Here are we, and we will goH5927 up to the placeH4725 of which Jehovah has spoken; for we have sinnedH2398. 41And MosesH4872 saidH559, WhyH4100 now do ye transgressH5674 the commandment of Jehovah? but it shall not prosperH6743! 42GoH5927 not up, for Jehovah is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemiesH341; 43for the Amalekites and the CanaanitesH3669 are there before you, and ye shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719; for as ye have turnedH7725 awayH7725 from Jehovah, Jehovah will not beH1961 with you. 44Yet they presumed to goH5927 up to the hill-top; but the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of Jehovah, and MosesH4872, did not departH4185 from the midstH7130 of the campH4264. 45And the Amalekites and the CanaanitesH3669 who dweltH3427 on that hillH2022, cameH3381 downH3381 and smote them, and cut them to pieces, as far as HormahH2767.
