Numbers 21
1And the CanaaniteH3669 kingH4428 of AradH6166, who dweltH3427 in the southH5045, heardH8085 that IsraelH3478 cameH935 by the wayH1870 of Atharim, and he foughtH3898 against IsraelH3478, and tookH7617 some of them prisoners. 2Then IsraelH3478 vowedH5087 a vowH5088 to Jehovah, and saidH559, If thou giveH5414 this peopleH5971 wholly into my handH3027, then I will utterly destroyH2763 their citiesH5892. 3And Jehovah listenedH8085 to the voiceH6963 of IsraelH3478, and delivered up the CanaanitesH3669; and they utterly destroyed them, and their citiesH5892. And they calledH7121 the nameH8034 of the placeH4725 HormahH2767. 4And they journeyed from mount HorH2023 by the wayH1870 of the Red seaH3220, to goH5437 roundH5437 the landH776 of EdomH123; and the soulH5315 of the peopleH5971 became impatient on the wayH1870; 5and the peopleH5971 spokeH1696 against 1GodH430, and against MosesH4872, WhyH4100 have ye broughtH5927 us up out of EgyptH4714 that we should dieH4191 in the wildernessH4057? for there is no breadH3899, and no waterH4325, and our soulH5315 loathes this light breadH3899. 6Then Jehovah sentH7971 fiery serpents among the peopleH5971, which bit the peopleH5971; and muchH7227 peopleH5971 of IsraelH3478 diedH4191. 7And the peopleH5971 cameH935 to MosesH4872 and saidH559, We have sinnedH2398, in that we have spokenH1696 against Jehovah, and against thee: prayH6419 to Jehovah that he take awayH5493 the serpents from us. And MosesH4872 prayedH6419 for the peopleH5971. 8And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872, MakeH7760 thee a fiery [serpent], and setH7760 it upon a pole; and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, and looketh upon it, shall live. 9And MosesH4872 madeH6213 a serpent of brass, and putH7760 it upon a pole; and it came to pass, if a serpent had bitten any manH376, and he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. 10And the children of IsraelH3478 journeyed, and encampedH2583 in ObothH88. 11And they removed from ObothH88, and encampedH2583 at Ijim-Abarim, in the wildernessH4057 that is before MoabH4124, toward the sun-rising. 12From thence they removed, and encampedH2583 at the torrent ZeredH2218. 13From thence they removed, and encampedH2583 on the otherH5676 sideH5676 of the ArnonH769, which is in the wildernessH4057 that comesH3318 out of the borderH1366 of the AmoritesH567. For the ArnonH769 is the borderH1366 of MoabH4124, between MoabH4124 and the AmoritesH567. 14ThereforeH3651 it is saidH559 in the bookH5612 of the warsH4421 of Jehovah, Vaheb in Suphah, and the brooks of ArnonH769; 15And the stream of the brooks which turneth to the dwellingH3427 of ArH6144, And inclineth toward the borderH1366 of MoabH4124. 16And from thence to BeerH876: that is the wellH875 of which Jehovah spoke to MosesH4872, Assemble the peopleH5971, and I will giveH5414 them waterH4325. 17ThenH227 IsraelH3478 sangH7891 this songH7892, Rise up, wellH875! singH7891 unto it: 18WellH875 which princesH8269 digged, which the noblesH5081 of the peopleH5971 hollowed out at [the word of] the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wildernessH4057 [they went] to MattanahH4980; 19and from MattanahH4980 to NahalielH5160; and from NahalielH5160 to BamothH1120; 20and from BamothH1120 to the valleyH1516 that is in the fieldsH7704 of MoabH4124, to the topH7218 of PisgahH6449, which looksH8259 over the surfaceH6440 of the waste. 21And IsraelH3478 sentH7971 messengersH4397 to SihonH5511 kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567, sayingH559, 22Let us passH5674 through thy landH776; we will not turnH5186 into the fieldsH7704, or into the vineyardsH3754; we will not drinkH8354 waterH4325 out of the wellsH875; on the king's roadH1870 will we go until we have passedH5674 thy borderH1366. 23But SihonH5511 would not suffer IsraelH3478 to goH3318 through his borderH1366; and SihonH5511 gatheredH622 all his peopleH5971, and wentH3318 out against IsraelH3478 into the wildernessH4057, and cameH935 to JahazH3096, and foughtH3898 against IsraelH3478. 24And IsraelH3478 smote him with the edge of the swordH2719, and tookH3423 possessionH3423 of his landH776 from the ArnonH769 to the JabbokH2999, even unto the children of AmmonH5983; for the borderH1366 of the children of AmmonH5983 was strongH5794. 25And IsraelH3478 tookH3947 all these citiesH5892, and IsraelH3478 dweltH3427 in all the citiesH5892 of the AmoritesH567, at HeshbonH2809, and in all its dependent villages. 26For HeshbonH2809 was the cityH5892 of SihonH5511 the kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567; and he had foughtH3898 against the formerH7223 kingH4428 of MoabH4124, and had takenH3947 all his landH776 out of his handH3027, even unto the ArnonH769. 27ThereforeH3651 the poets sayH559, ComeH935 to HeshbonH2809; let the cityH5892 of SihonH5511 be builtH1129 and establishedH3559. 28For there wentH3318 forthH3318 fireH784 from HeshbonH2809, a flameH3852 from the city of SihonH5511; It consumedH398 ArH6144 of MoabH4124, the lords of the highH1116 placesH1116 of the ArnonH769. 29WoeH188 to thee, MoabH4124! thou art undone, peopleH5971 of ChemoshH3645: He gaveH5414 his sonsH1121 that had escaped, and his daughtersH1323 into captivityH7628 to SihonH5511 the kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567. 30And we have shotH3384 at them; HeshbonH2809 is perishedH6 even unto DibonH1769; and we have laid [them] waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto MedebaH4311. 31And IsraelH3478 dweltH3427 in the landH776 of the AmoritesH567. 32And MosesH4872 sentH7971 to spyH7270 out Jaazer, and they tookH3920 its dependent villages, and he dispossessedH3423 the AmoritesH567 that were there. 33And they turnedH6437 and wentH3318 up by the wayH1870 to BashanH1316; and OgH5747 the kingH4428 of BashanH1316 wentH3318 out against them, he and all his peopleH5971, for battleH4421 to EdreiH154. 34And Jehovah saidH559 to MosesH4872, FearH3372 him not! for into thy handH3027 have I givenH5414 him, and all his peopleH5971, and his landH776; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto SihonH5511 the kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567, who dweltH3427 at HeshbonH2809. 35And they smote him, and his sonsH1121, and all his peopleH5971, so that they leftH7604 him none remainingH7604, and tookH3423 possessionH3423 of his landH776.
