1And Jehovah spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 2AvengeH5358 the children of IsraelH3478 upon the MidianitesH4084; afterwards shalt thou be gatheredH622 unto thy peoplesH5971. 3And MosesH4872 spokeH1696 to the peopleH5971, sayingH559, Arm from amongst you menH376 for military serviceH6635, that they go against MidianH4080 to execute Jehovah's vengeanceH5360 upon MidianH4080. 4Of every tribeH4294 a thousandH505, of all the tribesH4294 of IsraelH3478, shall ye sendH7971 to the warH6635. 5And there were levied out of the thousandsH505 of IsraelH3478, a thousandH505 by tribeH4294, twelve thousandH505 armedH2502 for warH6635. 6And MosesH4872 sentH7971 them to the warH6635, a thousandH505 by the tribeH4294, them and PhinehasH6372 the sonH1121 of EleazarH499 the priestH3548, to the warH6635, and the holyH6944 instrumentsH3627, even the alarm-trumpets in his handH3027. 7And they warred against MidianH4080, as Jehovah had commandedH6680 MosesH4872, and slewH2026 all the malesH2145. 8And they slewH2026 the kingsH4428 of MidianH4080, besides the others slainH2026, EviH189, and RekemH7552, and ZurH6698, and HurH2354, and RebaH7254, fiveH2568 kingsH4428 of MidianH4080; and BalaamH1109 the sonH1121 of BeorH1160 they slewH2026 with the swordH2719. 9And the children of IsraelH3478 tookH7617 the womenH802 of MidianH4080 captivesH7617, and their littleH2945 onesH2945, and tookH7617 for a spoilH962 all their cattleH929 and all their flocks and all their goods; 10and all their citiesH5892 in their settlements and all their encampmentsH2918 they burnedH8313 with fireH784. 11And they tookH3947 all the bootyH7998, and all the prey, of manH120 and of cattleH929; 12and they broughtH935 to MosesH4872 and EleazarH499 the priestH3548, and to the assemblyH5712 of the children of IsraelH3478, the captivesH7628 and the prey and the bootyH7998, to the campH4264 in the plainsH6160 of MoabH4124, which are by the JordanH3383 of JerichoH3405. 13And MosesH4872 and EleazarH499 the priestH3548 and all the princesH5387 of the assemblyH5712 wentH3318 forthH3318 to meet them outside the campH4264. 14And MosesH4872 was wroth with the officers of the armyH2428, with the captains of thousandsH505, and captains of hundredsH3967, who cameH935 from the serviceH6635 of the warH4421; 27and divideH2673 the prey into halves, between them that conducted the warH4421, who wentH3318 out to the battleH4421, and the whole assemblyH5712. 28And thou shalt levy a tribute for Jehovah of the menH376 of warH4421 who wentH3318 out to the armyH6635, oneH259 soulH5315 of fiveH2568 hundredH3967 of the personsH5315, and of the oxenH1241, and of the asses, and of the small cattleH1241. 29Of their halfH4276 shall ye takeH3947 it, and giveH5414 it unto EleazarH499 the priestH3548, for a heave-offering of Jehovah. 30And of the children of Israel's halfH4276, thou shalt takeH3947 oneH259 portion of fiftyH2572, of the personsH120, of the oxenH1241, of the asses, and of the small cattleH929, of every [kind of] beasts, and thou shalt giveH5414 them unto the LevitesH3881, who keepH8104 the chargeH4931 of the tabernacleH4908 of Jehovah. 31And MosesH4872 and EleazarH499 the priestH3548 did as Jehovah had commandedH6680 MosesH4872. 32And the preyH957, the restH3499 of the spoilH957, which the men of warH6635 had taken, wasH1961 sixH8337 hundredH3967 and seventy-fiveH7657 thousandH505 sheepH6629, 33and seventy-two thousandH505 oxenH1241, 34and sixty-one thousandH505 asses, 35and of humanH120 personsH5315, of the womenH802 that had not knownH3045 lying with a manH120, all the personsH5315 were thirty-two thousandH505. 36And the halfH4275, the portionH2506 of them that had goneH3318 out to the warH6635, wasH1961 in numberH4557 threeH7969 hundredH3967 and thirty-seven thousandH505 fiveH2568 hundredH3967 sheepH6629, 37and the tribute for Jehovah of the sheepH6629 wasH1961 sixH8337 hundredH3967 and seventy-fiveH7657; 38and the oxenH1241 were thirty-six thousandH505, and the tribute thereof for Jehovah, seventy-two; 39and the asses were thirtyH7970 thousandH505 fiveH2568 hundredH3967, and the tribute thereof for Jehovah, sixty-one; 40and the humanH120 personsH5315 were sixteen thousandH505, of whom the tribute for Jehovah was thirty-two personsH5315. 41And MosesH4872 gaveH5414 the tribute of Jehovah's heave-offering to EleazarH499 the priestH3548, as Jehovah had commandedH6680 MosesH4872. 42And of the children of Israel's halfH4276, which MosesH4872 had dividedH2673, [taking it] from the menH376 that servedH6633 in the warH6633, 43(now the halfH4275 belonging to the assemblyH5712 wasH1961 of the sheepH6629, threeH7969 hundredH3967 and thirty-seven thousandH505 fiveH2568 hundredH3967, 44and thirty-six thousandH505 oxenH1241, 45and thirtyH7970 thousandH505 fiveH2568 hundredH3967 asses, 46and sixteen thousandH505 humanH120 personsH5315,) 47...of the children of Israel's halfH4276, MosesH4872 tookH3947 oneH259 portion of fiftyH2572, of manH120 and of cattleH929, and gaveH5414 them to the LevitesH3881 who keptH8104 the chargeH4931 of the tabernacleH4908 of Jehovah; as Jehovah had commandedH6680 MosesH4872. 48And the officers who were over the thousandsH505 of the hostH6635, the captains of thousandsH505, and captains of hundredsH3967, came near to MosesH4872, 49and they saidH559 to MosesH4872, Thy servantsH5650 have takenH5375 the sum of the menH376 of warH4421 who were under our handH3027, and there is not oneH376 manH376 of us lacking. 50So we presentH7126 the offeringH7133 of Jehovah, that which each oneH376 hath foundH4672, jewels of goldH2091, chains, and braceletsH6781, ringsH2885, earrings, and necklaces, to make atonementH3722 for our soulsH5315 before Jehovah. 51And MosesH4872 and EleazarH499 the priestH3548 tookH3947 the goldH2091 of them, all manner of wrought jewels. 52And all the goldH2091 of the heave-offering that they offeredH7311 to Jehovah wasH1961 sixteen thousandH505 sevenH7651 hundredH3967 and fiftyH2572 shekelsH8255, from the captains of thousandsH505 and the captains of hundredsH3967. 53(The menH376 of warH6635 had takenH962 spoilH962 each oneH376 for himself.) 54And MosesH4872 and EleazarH499 the priestH3548 tookH3947 the goldH2091 of the captains of thousandsH505 and of hundredsH3967, and broughtH935 it into the tentH168 of meetingH4150, as a memorialH2146 for the children of IsraelH3478 before Jehovah.
