1 And Jehovah spoke H1696 to Moses מֹשֶׁ֖ה mo.Sheh H4872 in the plains בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת be.'ar.Vot H6160 of Moab מוֹאָ֑ב mo.'Av H4124 by the Jordan יַרְדֵּ֥ן yar.Den H3383 of Jericho יְרֵח֖וֹ ye.re.Cho H3405 , saying לֵאמֹֽר׃ le.Mor H559 , 2 Command צַו֮ tzav H6680 the children of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ Yis.ra.'El H3478 , that of the inheritance מִֽנַּחֲלַ֛ת mi.na.cha.Lat H5159 of their possession אֲחֻזָּתָ֖ם 'a.chu.za.Tam H272 they give וְנָתְנ֣וּ ve.na.te.Nu H5414 unto the Levites לַלְוִיִּ֗ם lal.vi.Yim H3881 cities עָרִ֣ים 'a.Rim H5892 to dwell לָשָׁ֑בֶת la.Sha.vet H3427 in ; and a suburb for the cities לֶֽעָרִים֙ le.'a.Rim H5892 round H5439 about them shall ye give תִּתְּנ֖וּ ti.te.Nu H5414 unto the Levites לַלְוִיִּֽם׃ lal.vi.Yim H3881 . 3 And the cities הֶֽעָרִ֛ים he.'a.Rim H5892 shall they have to dwell לָשָׁ֑בֶת la.Sha.vet H3427 in , and their suburbs shall be H1961 for their cattle לִבְהֶמְתָּם֙ liv.hem.Tam H929 , and for their goods , and for all their beasts . 4 And the suburbs of the cities הֶֽעָרִ֔ים he.'a.Rim H5892 that ye shall give תִּתְּנ֖וּ ti.te.Nu H5414 unto the Levites לַלְוִיִּ֑ם lal.vi.Yim H3881 shall be from the walls מִקִּ֤יר mi.Kir H7023 of the city הָעִיר֙ ha.'Ir H5892 outward , a thousand אֶ֥לֶף 'E.lef H505 cubits אַמָּ֖ה 'a.Mah H520 round H5439 about . 5 And ye shall measure וּמַדֹּתֶ֞ם u.ma.do.Tem H4058 , without the city לָעִ֗יר la.'Ir H5892 , the east קֵ֣דְמָה Ke.de.mah H6924 side פְּאַת־ pe.'at- H6285 two thousand אַלְפַּ֪יִם 'al.Pa.yim H505 cubits בָּֽאַמָּ֟ה ba.'a.Mah H520 , and the south נֶגֶב֩ ne.Gev H5045 side פְּאַת־ pe.'at- H6285 two thousand אַלְפַּ֨יִם 'al.Pa.yim H505 cubits בָּאַמָּ֜ה ba.'a.Mah H520 , and the west יָ֣ם׀ yam H3220 side פְּאַת־ pe.'at- H6285 two thousand אַלְפַּ֣יִם 'al.Pa.yim H505 cubits בָּֽאַמָּ֗ה ba.'a.Mah H520 , and the north צָפ֛וֹן tza.Fon H6828 side פְּאַ֥ת pe.'At H6285 two thousand אַלְפַּ֥יִם 'al.Pa.yim H505 cubits בָּאַמָּ֖ה ba.'a.Mah H520 , and the city וְהָעִ֣יר ve.ha.'Ir H5892 shall be H1961 in the midst H8432 : they shall have this as suburbs of the cities הֶעָרִֽים׃ he.'a.Rim H5892 . 6 And [ among ] the cities H5892 that ye shall give H5414 unto the Levites לַלְוִיִּ֔ם lal.vi.Yim H3881 [ shall be ] the six שֵׁשׁ־ shesh- H8337 cities H5892 of refuge הַמִּקְלָ֔ט ha.mik.Lat H4733 , which ye shall appoint for the manslayer , that he may flee לָנֻ֥ס la.Nus H5127 thither, — and besides them ye shall give H5414 forty-two cities H5892 : 7 all the cities H5892 that ye shall give תִּתְּנוּ֙ ti.te.Nu H5414 to the Levites לַלְוִיִּ֔ם lal.vi.Yim H3881 shall be forty-eight cities H5892 , they and their suburbs. 8 And the cities וְהֶֽעָרִ֗ים ve.he.'a.Rim H5892 which ye shall give תִּתְּנוּ֙ ti.te.Nu H5414 shall be of the possession מֵאֲחֻזַּ֣ת me.'a.chu.Zat H272 of the children of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Yis.ra.'El H3478 : from them that have much H7235 ye shall take H5157 much H7235 , and from them that have little H4592 ye shall take H5157 little H4592 ; that a manslayer may flee וְנָ֥ס ve.Nas H5127 thither, who without intent smiteth a person נֶ֖פֶשׁ Ne.fesh H5315 mortally. 12 And ye shall have these cities הֶעָרִ֛ים he.'a.Rim H5892 for refuge לְמִקְלָ֖ט le.mik.Lat H4733 from the avenger מִגֹּאֵ֑ל mi.go.'El H1350 ; that the manslayer die יָמוּת֙ ya.Mut H4191 not , until he have stood עָמְד֛וֹ a.me.Do H5975 before the assembly H5712 in judgment לַמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ la.mish.Pat H4941 . 13 And the cities וְהֶעָרִ֖ים ve.he.'a.Rim H5892 that ye shall give תִּתֵּ֑נוּ ti.Te.nu H5414 shall be תִּהְיֶ֥ינָה tih.Yei.nah H1961 six שֵׁשׁ־ shesh- H8337 cities עָרֵ֥י 'a.Rei H5892 of refuge מִקְלָ֖ט mik.Lat H4733 for you . 14 Three שְׁלֹ֣שׁ she.Losh H7969 cities הֶעָרִ֗ים he.'a.Rim H5892 shall ye give תִּתְּנוּ֙ ti.te.Nu H5414 on this side מֵעֵ֣בֶר me.'E.ver H5676 of the Jordan לַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן lai.yar.Den H3383 , and three שְׁלֹ֣שׁ she.Losh H7969 cities הֶֽעָרִ֔ים he.'a.Rim H5892 shall ye give תִּתְּנ֖וּ ti.te.Nu H5414 in the land בְּאֶ֣רֶץ be.'E.retz H776 of Canaan כְּנָ֑עַן ke.Na.'an H3667 ; they shall be תִּהְיֶֽינָה׃ tih.Yei.nah H1961 cities עָרֵ֥י 'a.Rei H5892 of refuge מִקְלָ֖ט mik.Lat H4733 . 15 For the children of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל Yis.ra.'El H3478 , and for the stranger , and for the sojourner among them shall these six שֵׁשׁ־ shesh- H8337 cities הֶעָרִ֥ים he.'a.Rim H5892 be H1961 a refuge לְמִקְלָ֑ט le.mik.Lat H4733 , that one who smiteth a person נֶ֖פֶשׁ Ne.fesh H5315 mortally without intent may flee לָנ֣וּס la.Nus H5127 thither. 19 the avenger גֹּאֵ֣ל go.'El H1350 of blood הַדָּ֔ם ha.Dam H1818 , he shall put יָמִ֖ית ya.Mit H4191 the murderer H7523 to death יְמִיתֶֽנּוּ׃ ye.mi.Te.nu H4191 ; when he meeteth him , he shall put H4191 him to death H4191 . 20 And if he thrust at him out of hatred בְּשִׂנְאָ֖ה be.sin.'Ah H8135 , or hurl at him intentionally, so that he die H4191 , 22 But if he have thrust at him suddenly H6621 without enmity אֵיבָ֖ה 'ei.Vah H342 , or have cast H7993 upon him anything unintentionally, 23 or [ have smitten him ] with any stone אֶ֜בֶן 'E.ven H68 wherewith one may die H4191 , without seeing רְא֔וֹת re.'ot H7200 him , and have cast H5307 it upon him so that he die H4191 , and he was not his enemy אוֹיֵ֣ב 'o.Yev H341 , neither sought מְבַקֵּ֖שׁ me.va.Kesh H1245 his harm רָעָתֽוֹ׃ ra.'a.To H7451 : 24 then the assembly H5712 shall judge וְשָֽׁפְטוּ֙ ve.sha.fe.Tu H8199 between the smiter and the avenger גֹּאֵ֣ל go.'El H1350 of blood הַדָּ֑ם ha.Dam H1818 according to these judgments הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֖ים ha.mish.pa.Tim H4941 ; 25 and the assembly H5712 shall rescue H5337 the manslayer out of the hand מִיַּד֮ mi.Yad H3027 of the avenger גֹּאֵ֣ל go.'El H1350 of blood הַדָּם֒ ha.Dam H1818 , and the assembly H5712 shall restore H7725 him to the city עִ֥יר 'ir H5892 of his refuge מִקְלָט֖וֹ mik.la.To H4733 , whither he had fled H5127 ; and he shall abide in it until the death מוֹת֙ mOt H4194 of the high-priest, who was anointed מָשַׁ֥ח ma.Shach H4886 with the holy H6944 oil בְּשֶׁ֥מֶן be.She.men H8081 . 26 But if the manslayer shall in any way come H3318 outside the limits of the city עִ֣יר 'ir H5892 of his refuge מִקְלָט֔וֹ mik.la.To H4733 whither he hath fled יָנ֖וּס ya.Nus H5127 , 27 and the avenger גֹּאֵ֣ל go.'El H1350 of blood H1818 find וּמָצָ֤א u.ma.Tza' H4672 him outside the limits of his city עִ֣יר 'ir H5892 of refuge מִקְלָט֑וֹ mik.la.To H4733 , and the avenger גֹּאֵ֤ל go.'El H1350 of blood H1818 kill the manslayer , there shall be no blood-guiltiness upon him ; 28 for the manslayer should have remained יֵשֵׁ֔ב ye.Shev H3427 in the city בְעִ֤יר ve.'Ir H5892 of his refuge מִקְלָטוֹ֙ mik.la.To H4733 until the death מ֖וֹת Mot H4194 of the high-priest; but after the death מוֹת֙ mOt H4194 of the high-priest he may return יָשׁוּב֙ ya.Shuv H7725 into the land אֶ֖רֶץ 'E.retz H776 of his possession אֲחֻזָּתֽוֹ׃ 'a.chu.za.To H272 . 29 And this shall be H1961 unto you a statute לְחֻקַּ֥ת le.chu.Kat H2708 of right H4941 throughout your generations לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶ֑ם le.do.ro.tei.Khem H1755 in all your dwellings מוֹשְׁבֹתֵיכֶֽם׃ mo.she.vo.tei.Khem H4186 . 31 And ye shall take תִקְח֥וּ tik.Chu H3947 no satisfaction for the life לְנֶ֣פֶשׁ le.Ne.fesh H5315 of a murderer H7523 , who is guilty רָשָׁ֖ע ra.Sha' H7563 of death H4191 , but he shall certainly be put H4191 to death H4191 . 32 And ye shall take תִקְח֣וּ tik.Chu H3947 no satisfaction for him that hath fled לָנ֖וּס la.Nus H5127 to the city עִ֣יר 'ir H5892 of his refuge מִקְלָט֑וֹ mik.la.To H4733 , that he should come again to dwell לָשֶׁ֣בֶת la.She.vet H3427 in the land בָּאָ֔רֶץ ba.'A.retz H776 , until the death מ֖וֹת Mot H4194 of the priest הַכֹּהֵֽן׃ ha.ko.Hen H3548 . 33 And ye shall not pollute H2610 the land הָאָ֗רֶץ ha.'A.retz H776 wherein ye are ; for blood הַדָּ֔ם ha.Dam H1818 , it polluteth the land הָאָ֑רֶץ ha.'A.retz H776 ; and there can be no atonement H3722 made for the land וְלָאָ֣רֶץ ve.la.'A.retz H776 , for the blood לַדָּם֙ la.Dam H1818 that hath been shed שֻׁפַּךְ־ shu.pakh- H8210 therein, but by the blood בְּדַ֥ם be.Dam H1818 of him that shed שֹׁפְכֽוֹ׃ sho.fe.Kho H8210 it . 34 And ye shall not defile H2930 the land הָאָ֗רֶץ ha.'A.retz H776 that ye inhabit H3427 , in the midst H8432 whereof I dwell יֹשְׁבִ֣ים yo.she.Vim H3427 ;
