Numbers 35
Revised Version 1895
1And the LORDH3068 spake unto MosesH4872 in the plainsH6160 of MoabH4124 by the JordanH3383 at JerichoH3405, sayingH559, 2CommandH6680 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, that they giveH5414 unto the LevitesH3881 of the inheritanceH5159 of their possessionH272 citiesH5892 to dwellH3427 in; and suburbs for the citiesH5892 roundH5439 aboutH5439 them shall ye giveH5414 unto the LevitesH3881. 3And the citiesH5892 shall they have to dwellH3427 in; and their suburbs shall be for their cattleH929, and for their substance, and for allH3605 their beastsH929. 4And the suburbs of the citiesH5892, whichH834 ye shall giveH5414 unto the LevitesH3881, shall be from the wallH7023 of the cityH5892 and outwardH2351 a thousandH505 cubitsH520 roundH5439 aboutH5439. 5And ye shall measureH4058 without the cityH5892 for the eastH6924 sideH6285 twoH6285 thousandH505 cubitsH520, and for the southH5045 sideH6285 twoH6285 thousandH505 cubitsH520, and for the westH3220 sideH6285 twoH6285 thousandH505 cubitsH520, and for the northH6828 sideH6285 twoH6285 thousandH505 cubitsH520, the cityH5892 beingH1961 in the midstH8432. This shall be to them the suburbs of the citiesH5892. 6And the citiesH5892 whichH834 ye shall giveH5414 unto the LevitesH3881, they shall be the sixH8337 citiesH5892 of refugeH4733, whichH834 ye shall giveH5414 for the manslayerH7523 to fleeH5127 thither: and besideH5921 them ye shall giveH5414 fortyH705 and twoH8147 citiesH5892. 7AllH3605 the citiesH5892 whichH834 ye shall giveH5414 to the LevitesH3881 shall be fortyH705 and eightH8083 citiesH5892: them shall ye giveH5414 with their suburbs. 8And concerning the citiesH5892 whichH834 ye shall giveH5414 of the possessionH272 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, from the manyH7227 ye shall takeH5157 manyH7227; and from the fewH4592 ye shall takeH5157 fewH4592: everyH376 one accordingH6310 to his inheritanceH5159 whichH834 he inheriteth shall giveH5414 of his citiesH5892 unto the LevitesH3881. 9And the LORDH3068 spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 10SpeakH1696 unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and sayH559 unto them, When ye passH5674 over JordanH3383 intoH413 the landH776 of CanaanH3667, 11then ye shall appoint youH5221 citiesH5892 to be citiesH5892 of refugeH4733 for youH5221; that the manslayerH7523 whichH8033 killeth anyH1961 personH5315 unwittingly may fleeH5127 thither. 12And the citiesH5892 shall be unto youH6440 for refugeH4733 from the avengerH1350; that the manslayerH7523 dieH4191 notH3808, untilH5704 he standH5975 beforeH6440 the congregationH5712 for judgmentH4941. 13And the citiesH5892 whichH834 ye shall giveH5414 shall be for youH834 sixH8337 citiesH5892 of refugeH4733. 14Ye shall giveH5414 threeH7969 citiesH5892 beyondH5676 JordanH3383, and threeH7969 citiesH5892 shall ye giveH5414 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667; they shall be citiesH5892 of refugeH4733. 15For the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and for the strangerH1616 and for the sojournerH8453 among them, shall theseH428 sixH8337 citiesH5892 be for refugeH4733: that everyH3605 one that killeth anyH3605 personH5315 unwittingly may fleeH5127 thither. 16But ifH518 he smoteH5221 him with an instrument of ironH1270, soH4191 that he diedH4191, he is a manslayerH7523: the manslayerH7523 shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. 17And ifH518 he smoteH5221 him with a stoneH68 in the handH3027, wherebyH834 a manH4191 may dieH4191, and he diedH4191, he is a manslayerH7523: the manslayerH7523 shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. 18Or ifH834 he smoteH5221 him with a weaponH3627 of woodH6086 in the handH3027, wherebyH834 a manH4191 may dieH4191, and he diedH4191, he is a manslayerH7523: the manslayerH7523 shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. 19The avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 shall himselfH1931 putH4191 the manslayerH7523 to deathH4191: when he meeteth him, he shall putH4191 him to deathH4191. 20And ifH518 he thrustH1920 him of hatredH8135, or hurledH7993 at him, lyingH7993 in waitH6660, soH4191 that he diedH4191; 21or in enmityH342 smoteH5221 him with his handH3027, that he diedH4191: he that smoteH5221 him shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191; he is a manslayerH7523: the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 shall putH4191 the manslayerH7523 to deathH4191, when he meeteth him. 22But ifH518 he thrustH1920 him suddenlyH6621 withoutH3808 enmityH342, or hurledH7993 uponH5921 him anyH3605 thingH3627 withoutH3808 lyingH7993 in waitH6660, 23or with anyH3605 stoneH68, wherebyH834 a manH4191 may dieH4191, seeingH7200 him notH3808, and castH5307 it uponH5921 him, soH3808 that he diedH4191, and he was notH3808 his enemyH341, neitherH3808 soughtH1245 his harmH7451: 24then the congregationH5712 shall judgeH8199 betweenH996 the smiterH5221 and the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 accordingH5921 to theseH428 judgmentsH4941: 25and the congregationH5712 shall deliverH5337 the manslayerH7523 outH413 of the handH3027 of the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818, and the congregationH5712 shall restoreH7725 him to his cityH5892 of refugeH4733, whither he was fledH5127: and he shall dwellH3427 therein untilH5704 the deathH4194 of the highH1419 priestH3548, whichH834 was anointedH4886 with the holyH6944 oilH8081. 26But ifH518 the manslayerH7523 shall at anyH3318 time goH3318 beyondH3318 the borderH1366 of his cityH5892 of refugeH4733, whither he fleeth; 27and the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 findH4672 him withoutH369 the borderH1366 of his cityH5892 of refugeH4733, and the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 slay the manslayerH7523; he shall notH369 be guilty of bloodH1818: 28becauseH3588 he should have remainedH3427 in his cityH5892 of refugeH4733 untilH5704 the deathH4194 of the highH1419 priestH3548: but afterH310 the deathH4194 of the highH1419 priestH3548 the manslayerH7523 shall returnH7725 intoH413 the landH776 of his possessionH272. 29And theseH428 things shall be for a statuteH2708 of judgmentH4941 unto youH3605 throughoutH3605 your generationsH1755 in allH3605 your dwellingsH4186. 30Whoso killeth anyH3605 personH5315, the manslayerH7523 shall be slainH5221 at the mouthH6310 of witnessesH5707: but one witnessH5707 shall notH3808 testifyH6030 againstH3605 anyH3605 personH5315 that he dieH4191. 31Moreover ye shall takeH3947 noH3808 ransomH3724 for the lifeH5315 of a manslayerH7523, whichH834 is guiltyH7563 of deathH4191: but he shall surelyH3588 be putH4191 to deathH4191. 32And ye shall takeH3947 noH3808 ransomH3724 for him that is fledH5127 to his cityH5892 of refugeH4733, that he should comeH7725 againH7725 to dwellH3427 in the landH776, untilH5704 the deathH4194 of the priestH3548. 33SoH3808 ye shall notH3808 polluteH2610 the landH776 whereinH834 ye are: for bloodH1818, it polluteth the landH776: and noH3808 expiation canH518 be madeH834 for the landH776 for the bloodH1818 that is shedH8210 therein, but by the bloodH1818 of him that shedH8210 it. 34And thou shalt notH3808 defileH2930 the landH776 whichH834 ye inhabitH3427, in the midstH8432 of whichH834 I dwellH3427: for I the LORDH3068 dwellH3427 in the midstH8432 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478.
