Exodus 16
Revised Version 1895
1And they tookH3318 their journeyH5265 from ElimH362, and allH3605 the congregationH5712 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 cameH935 unto the wildernessH4057 of Sin, whichH834 is betweenH996 ElimH362 and SinaiH5514, on the fifteenth dayH3117 of the secondH8145 monthH2320 afterH413 their departingH3318 outH3318 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 2And the wholeH3605 congregationH5712 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 murmuredH3885 againstH5921 MosesH4872 and againstH5921 AaronH175 in the wildernessH4057: 3and the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 saidH559 unto them, Would that weH3588 had diedH4191 by the handH3027 of the LORDH3068 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, when weH3588 satH3427 by the fleshH1320 potsH5518, when weH3588 did eatH398 breadH3899 to the fullH3605; for ye have broughtH3318 usH5414 forthH3318 intoH413 this wildernessH4057, to killH4191 this wholeH3605 assemblyH6951 with hungerH7458. 4Then saidH559 the LORDH3068 unto MosesH4872, BeholdH2005, I will rainH4305 breadH3899 from heavenH8064 for youH518; and the peopleH5971 shall goH3318 outH3318 and gatherH3950 a day’sH3117 portionH1697 everyH3117 dayH3117, that I may prove them, whetherH518 they will walk in my lawH8451, or noH3808. 5And it shall comeH935 to passH935 on the sixthH8345 dayH3117, that they shall prepareH3559 that whichH834 they bringH935 in, and it shall be twiceH4932 as muchH834 as they gatherH3950 dailyH3117. 6And MosesH4872 and AaronH175 saidH559 unto allH3605 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, At evenH3588, then ye shall knowH3045 that the LORDH3068 hath broughtH3318 youH3588 outH3318 from the landH776 of EgyptH4714: 7and in the morningH1242, then ye shall seeH7200 the gloryH3519 of the LORDH3068; for that he heareth your murmurings againstH5921 the LORDH3068: and whatH4100 are weH3588, that ye murmurH3885 againstH5921 usH5921? 8And MosesH4872 saidH559, This shall be, when the LORDH3068 shall giveH5414 youH859 in the eveningH6153 fleshH1320 to eatH398, and in the morningH1242 breadH3899 to the fullH7646; for that the LORDH3068 heareth your murmurings whichH834 ye murmur againstH5921 him: and whatH4100 are weH3588? your murmurings are notH3808 againstH5921 usH5414, but againstH5921 the LORDH3068. 9And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto AaronH175, SayH559 unto allH3605 the congregationH5712 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, ComeH7126 nearH7126 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068: for he hath heardH8085 your murmurings. 10And it cameH1961 to passH1961, as AaronH175 spake unto the wholeH3605 congregationH5712 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, that they lookedH7200 towardH413 the wildernessH4057, and, beholdH2009, the gloryH3519 of the LORDH3068 appearedH7200 in the cloudH6051. 11And the LORDH3068 spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 12I have heardH8085 the murmurings of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478: speakH1696 unto them, sayingH559, At evenH3588 ye shall eatH398 fleshH1320, and in the morningH1242 ye shall be filledH7646 with breadH3899; and ye shall knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068 your GodH430. 13And it cameH1961 to passH1961 at evenH853, that the quailsH7958 cameH1961 upH5927, and coveredH3680 the campH4264: and in the morningH1242 the dewH2919 layH1961 roundH5439 aboutH1961 the campH4264. 14And when the dewH2919 that lay was goneH5927 upH5927, beholdH2009, uponH5921 the faceH6440 of the wildernessH4057 a small round thingH2636, small as the hoar frost on the groundH776. 15And when the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 sawH7200 it, they saidH559 one to anotherH251, WhatH4100 is it? for they wist notH3808 whatH4100 it was. And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto them, It is the breadH3899 whichH834 the LORDH3068 hath givenH5414 youH834 to eatH402. 16This is the thingH1697 whichH834 the LORDH3068 hath commandedH6680, GatherH3950 ye of it everyH376 manH376 accordingH6310 to his eating; an omer a headH1538, accordingH6310 to the numberH4557 of your personsH5315, shall ye takeH3947 it, everyH376 manH376 for them whichH834 are in his tentH168. 17And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 didH6213 soH3651, and gatheredH3950 some moreH3651, some lessH4591. 18And when they didH3808 mete it with an omer, he that gatheredH3950 muchH7235 had nothingH3808 over, and he that gatheredH3950 littleH4591 had noH3808 lackH2637; they gatheredH3950 everyH376 manH376 accordingH6310 to his eating. 19And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto them, LetH408 noH408 manH376 leaveH3498 of it tillH5704 the morningH1242. 20Notwithstanding they hearkened notH3808 unto MosesH4872; but someH4480 of them leftH3498 of it untilH5704 the morningH1242, and it bred wormsH8438, and stankH887: and MosesH4872 was wroth with them. 21And they gatheredH3950 it morningH1242 by morningH1242, everyH376 manH376 accordingH6310 to his eating: and when the sunH8121 waxed hotH2552, it meltedH4549. 22And it cameH935 to passH935, that on the sixthH8345 dayH3117 they gatheredH3950 twiceH8147 as muchH4932 breadH3899, twoH8147 omersH6016 for eachH259 one: and allH3605 the rulers of the congregationH5712 cameH935 and toldH5046 MosesH4872. 23And he saidH559 unto them, This is that whichH834 the LORDH3068 hath spokenH1696, TomorrowH4279 is a solemnH7677 restH7677, a holyH6944 sabbathH7676 unto the LORDH3068: bakeH644 that whichH834 ye will bakeH644, and seetheH1310 that whichH834 ye will seetheH1310; and allH3605 that remaineth over lay upH5704 for youH834 to be keptH4931 untilH5704 the morningH1242. 24And they laidH6680 it upH5704 tillH5704 the morningH1242, as MosesH4872 bade: and it didH834 notH3808 stinkH887, neitherH3808 was there anyH1961 wormH7415 therein. 25And MosesH4872 saidH559, EatH398 that todayH3117; for todayH3117 is a sabbathH7676 unto the LORDH3068: todayH3117 ye shall notH3808 findH4672 it in the fieldH7704. 26SixH8337 daysH3117 ye shall gatherH3950 it; but on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 is the sabbathH7676, in it there shall be noneH3808. 27And it cameH1961 to passH1961 on the seventhH7637 dayH3117, that there wentH3318 outH3318 someH4480 of the peopleH5971 for to gatherH3950, and they foundH4672 noneH3808. 28And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto MosesH4872, HowH575 longH5704 refuseH3985 ye to keepH8104 my commandmentsH4687 and my lawsH8451? 29SeeH7200, for that the LORDH3068 hath givenH5414 youH3588 the sabbathH7676, therefore he giveth youH3588 on the sixthH8345 dayH3117 the breadH3899 of twoH3427 daysH3117; abideH3427 ye everyH376 manH376 in his placeH4725, letH5414 noH408 manH376 goH3318 outH3318 of his placeH4725 on the seventhH7637 dayH3117. 30SoH7673 the peopleH5971 restedH7673 on the seventhH7637 dayH3117. 31And the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 calledH7121 the nameH8034 thereof MannaH4478: and it was like corianderH1407 seedH2233, whiteH3836; and the tasteH2940 of it was like wafersH6838 madeH7121 with honeyH1706. 32And MosesH4872 saidH559, This is the thingH1697 whichH834 the LORDH3068 hath commandedH6680, Let an omerful of it be keptH4931 for your generationsH1755; that they may seeH7200 the breadH3899 wherewith I fedH398 youH834 in the wildernessH4057, when I broughtH3318 youH834 forthH3318 from the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 33And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto AaronH175, TakeH3947 a pot, and putH5414 an omerful of mannaH4478 therein, and layH5414 it upH5414 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, to be keptH4931 for your generationsH1755. 34As the LORDH3068 commandedH6680 MosesH4872, soH834 AaronH175 laidH6680 it upH413 beforeH6440 the TestimonyH5715, to be keptH4931. 35And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 did eatH398 the mannaH4478 fortyH705 yearsH8141, untilH5704 they cameH935 to a landH776 inhabitedH3427; they did eatH398 the mannaH4478, untilH5704 they cameH935 unto the borders of the landH776 of CanaanH3667. 36Now an omer is the tenthH6224 partH1931 of an ephahH374.
