2 Kings 25

American Standard Version

1And it cameH935 to pass in the ninthH8671 yearH8141 of his reignH4427, in the tenthH6224 monthH2320, in the tenthH6224 day of the monthH2320, that NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 cameH935, he and all his armyH2428, against JerusalemH3389, and encampedH2583 against it; and they builtH1129 forts against it roundH5439 about. 2So the cityH5892 was besieged unto the eleventh yearH8141 of kingH4428 ZedekiahH6667. 3On the ninth day of the fourth monthH2320 the famineH7458 wasH1961 sore in the cityH5892, so that there wasH1961 no breadH3899 for the peopleH5971 of the landH776. 4Then a breach was made in the cityH5892, and all the menH376 of warH4421 fled by nightH3915 by the wayH1870 of the gateH8179 between the twoH2346 wallsH2346, which was by the king’sH4428 gardenH1588 (now the ChaldeansH3778 were against the cityH5892 roundH5439 about); and the kingH4428 went by the wayH1870 of the ArabahH6160. 5But the armyH2428 of the ChaldeansH3778 pursuedH7291 after the kingH4428, and overtookH5381 him in the plainsH6160 of JerichoH3405; and all his armyH2428 was scatteredH6327 from him. 6Then they took the kingH4428, and carried him up unto the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247; and they gave judgmentH4941 upon him. 7And they slew the sonsH1121 of ZedekiahH6667 before his eyesH5869, and put out the eyesH5869 of ZedekiahH6667, and boundH631 him in fettersH5178, and carried him to BabylonH894.

8Now in the fifthH2549 monthH2320, on the seventh day of the monthH2320, which was the nineteenth yearH8141 of kingH4428 NebuchadnezzarH5019, kingH4428 of BabylonH894, cameH935 NebuzaradanH5018 the captain of the guard, a servantH5650 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, unto JerusalemH3389. 9And he burntH8313 the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and the king’sH4428 houseH1004; and all the housesH1004 of JerusalemH3389, even every greatH1419 houseH1004, burnt he with fireH784. 10And all the armyH2428 of the ChaldeansH3778, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the wallsH2346 of JerusalemH3389 roundH5439 about. 11And the residue of the peopleH5971 that were leftH7604 in the cityH5892, and those that fellH5307 away, that fellH5307 to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and the residue of the multitudeH1995, did NebuzaradanH5018 the captain of the guard carry away captive. 12But the captain of the guard leftH7604 of the poorest of the landH776 to be vinedressersH3755 and husbandmen.

13And the pillarsH5982 of brass that were in the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and the bases and the brazen seaH3220 that were in the houseH1004 of Jehovah, did the ChaldeansH3778 breakH7665 in pieces, and carriedH5375 the brass of them to BabylonH894. 14And the potsH5518, and the shovelsH3257, and the snuffersH4212, and the spoons, and all the vesselsH3627 of brass wherewith they ministered, tookH3947 they awayH3947. 15And the firepansH4289, and the basins, that which was of goldH2091, in goldH2091, and that which was of silverH3701, in silverH3701, the captain of the guard tookH3947 awayH3947. 16The twoH8147 pillarsH5982, the oneH259 seaH3220, and the bases, which SolomonH8010 had madeH6213 for the houseH1004 of Jehovah, the brass of all these vesselsH3627 wasH1961 without weightH4948. 17The heightH6967 of the oneH259 pillarH5982 was eighteen cubitsH520, and a capitalH3805 of brass was upon it; and the heightH6967 of the capitalH3805 was threeH7969 cubitsH520, with networkH7639 and pomegranatesH7416 upon the capitalH3805 roundH5439 about, all of brass: and like unto these had the secondH8145 pillarH5982 with networkH7639.

18And the captain of the guardH8104 tookH3947 SeraiahH8304 the chiefH7218 priestH3548, and ZephaniahH6846 the secondH4932 priestH3548, and the threeH7969 keepersH8104 of the threshold: 19and out of the cityH5892 he tookH3947 an officer that was set over the menH376 of warH4421; and fiveH2568 menH376 of them that sawH7200 the king’sH4428 faceH6440, who were foundH4672 in the cityH5892; and the scribeH5608, the captain of the hostH6635, who musteredH6633 the peopleH5971 of the landH776; and threescore menH376 of the peopleH5971 of the landH776, that were foundH4672 in the cityH5892. 20And NebuzaradanH5018 the captain of the guard tookH3947 them, and brought them to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247. 21And the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 smote them, and putH4191 them to deathH4191 at RiblahH7247 in the landH776 of HamathH2574. So JudahH3063 was carried away captive out of his landH776.

22And as for the peopleH5971 that were leftH7604 in the landH776 of JudahH3063, whom NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 had leftH7604, even over them he made GedaliahH1436 the sonH1121 of AhikamH296, the sonH1121 of ShaphanH8227, governor. 23Now when all the captains of the forces, they and their menH376, heardH8085 that the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 had made GedaliahH1436 governor, they cameH935 to GedaliahH1436 to MizpahH4709, even IshmaelH3458 the sonH1121 of NethaniahH5418, and JohananH3110 the sonH1121 of KareahH7143, and SeraiahH8304 the sonH1121 of TanhumethH8576 the NetophathiteH5200, and JaazaniahH2970 the sonH1121 of the MaacathiteH4602, they and their menH376. 24And GedaliahH1436 sware to them and to their menH376, and saidH559 unto them, FearH3372 not because of the servantsH5650 of the ChaldeansH3778: dwellH3427 in the landH776, and serveH5647 the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and it shall be wellH3190 with you. 25But it cameH935 to pass in the seventhH7637 monthH2320, that IshmaelH3458 the sonH1121 of NethaniahH5418, the sonH1121 of ElishamaH476, of the seedH2233 royal, cameH935, and tenH6235 menH376 with him, and smote GedaliahH1436, so that he diedH4191, and the JewsH3064 and the ChaldeansH3778 that were with him at MizpahH4709. 26And all the peopleH5971, both smallH6996 and greatH1419, and the captains of the forces, aroseH6965, and cameH935 to EgyptH4714; for they were afraidH3372 of the ChaldeansH3778.

27And it came to pass in the sevenH7651 and thirtieth yearH8141 of the captivity of JehoiachinH3078 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, in the twelfth monthH2320, on the sevenH7651 and twentieth day of the monthH2320, that Evil-merodachH192 kingH4428 of BabylonH894, in the yearH8141 that he began to reignH4427, did liftH5375 up the headH7218 of JehoiachinH3078 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 out of prison; 28and he spake kindly to him, and setH5414 his throneH3678 above the throneH3678 of the kingsH4428 that were with him in BabylonH894, 29and changed his prison garmentsH899. And Jehoiachin did eatH398 breadH3899 before him continuallyH8548 all the daysH3117 of his life: 30and for his allowanceH737, there was a continual allowanceH737 givenH5414 him of the kingH4428, every dayH3117 a portion, all the daysH3117 of his life.
