Genesis 45

1Then JosephH3130 couldH3201 no longerH3808 control himselfH662 before allH3605 his attendantsH5324, and he cried outH5921H7121, “Send everyoneH3605H376 awayH3318 from meH5921!”

So noneH3808 of them were withH5975H376 Joseph when heH3130 made himself knownH3045 toH413 his brothersH251. 2But he weptH1065 so loudlyH5414 that the EgyptiansH4713 heard himH8085, and Pharaoh’sH6547 householdH1004 soon heard of itH8085.

3JosephH3130 saidH559 toH413 his brothersH251, “IH589 am JosephH3130! Is my fatherH1 stillH5750 aliveH2416?”

But theyH251 were unableH3808H3201 to answerH6030 himH853, becauseH3588 they were terrifiedH926 in his presenceH6440.

4Then JosephH3130 saidH559 toH413 his brothersH251, “PleaseH4994H413 come near meH5066.” And theyH5066 did so.

“IH589 am JosephH3130, your brotherH251,” he saidH559, “the oneH834 you soldH4376 into EgyptH4714! 5And nowH6258, do notH408 be distressedH6087H408 or angryH2734 with yourselvesH5869 thatH3588 you soldH4376 meH853 into this placeH2008, becauseH3588 it was to save livesH4241 that GodH430 sent meH7971 before youH6440. 6ForH3588 the famineH7458 has coveredH7130 the landH776 theseH2088 two yearsH8141, and there will be fiveH2568 moreH5750 yearsH8141 withoutH369 plowingH2758 or harvestingH7105. 7GodH430 sent meH7971 before youH6440 to preserveH7760 you as a remnantH7611 on the earthH776 and to save your livesH2421 by a greatH1419 deliveranceH6413.1 8ThereforeH6258 it was notH3808 youH859 who sentH7971 meH853 hereH2008, butH3588 GodH430, who has made meH7760 a fatherH1 to PharaohH6547—lordH113 of allH3605 his householdH1004 and rulerH4910 over allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714.

Joseph Sends for His Father

9Now returnH5927 quicklyH4116 toH413 my fatherH1 and tellH559 himH413, ‘This is whatH3541 your sonH1121 JosephH3130 saysH559: GodH430 has made meH7760 lordH113 of allH3605 EgyptH4714. Come downH3381 to meH413 withoutH408 delayH5975. 10You shall settleH3427 in the landH776 of GoshenH1657 and beH1961 near meH7138H413—youH859 and your childrenH1121 and grandchildrenH1121, your flocksH6629 and herdsH1241, and everything you ownH3605. 11And thereH8033 I will provideH3557 for youH853, becauseH3588 there will be fiveH2568 moreH5750 yearsH8141 of famineH7458. OtherwiseH6435, youH859 and your householdH1004 and everythingH3605 you own will come to destitutionH3423.’

12BeholdH2009! YouH5869 and my brotherH251 BenjaminH1144 can seeH5869H7200 thatH3588 IH6310, Joseph, am the one speakingH1696 with youH413. 13TellH5046 my fatherH1 about allH3605 my splendorH3519 in EgyptH4714 and everythingH3605 you have seenH7200. And bringH3381 my fatherH1 down hereH2008 quicklyH4116.”

14Then Joseph threw his arms aroundH5307H5921H6677 his brotherH251 BenjaminH1144 and weptH1058, and BenjaminH1144 weptH1058 asH5921 they embracedH6677. 15Joseph kissedH5401 eachH3605 of his brothersH251 as he weptH1058 over themH5921. And afterwardH310H3651 his brothersH251 talkedH1696 with himH854.

Pharaoh Invites Jacob to Egypt

16When the newsH6963 reachedH8085 Pharaoh’sH6547H559 houseH1004 that Joseph’sH3130 brothersH251 had comeH935, PharaohH6547H5869 and his servantsH5650 were pleasedH3190H5869.

17PharaohH6547 saidH559 toH413 JosephH3130, “TellH559H413 your brothersH251, ‘DoH6213 as followsH2063: LoadH2943 your animalsH1165 and returnH1980H935 to the landH776 of CanaanH3667. 18Then bringH3947 your fatherH1 and your familiesH1004 and returnH935 to meH413. I will giveH5414 youH853 the bestH2898 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and you shall eatH398 from the fatH2459 of the landH776.’ 19YouH859 are also directed to tell themH6680H6213H2063: ‘TakeH3947 wagonsH5699 from the landH776 of EgyptH4714 for your young childrenH2945 and your wivesH802, and bringH5375 your fatherH1 and come backH935. 20But pay no regardH408H5869H2347 toH5921 your belongingsH3627, forH3588 the bestH2898 of allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714 isH1931 yours.’”

21So the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 didH6213 as they were told. JosephH3130 gaveH5414 them wagonsH5699 asH5921 PharaohH6547 had instructedH6310, and he also gaveH5414 them provisionsH6720 for their journeyH1870. 22He gaveH5414 newH2487 garmentsH8071 to each of themH376, but to BenjaminH1144 he gaveH5414 threeH7969 hundredH3967 shekels of silverH37012 and fiveH2568 setsH2487 of clothesH8071. 23And he sentH7971 to his fatherH1 the followingH2063: tenH6235 donkeysH2543 loadedH5375 with the bestH2898 of EgyptH4714, and tenH6235 female donkeysH860 loadedH5375 with grainH1250 and breadH3899 and provisionsH4202 for his father’sH1 journeyH1870.

24Then Joseph sent his brothersH251 on their wayH7971, and as they were leavingH1980, he saidH559 to themH413, “Do notH408 quarrelH7264 on the wayH1870!”

The Revival of Jacob

25So the brothers went upH5927 out of EgyptH4714 and cameH935 toH413 their fatherH1 JacobH3290 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667. 26“JosephH3130 is stillH5750 aliveH2416,” they saidH5046, “andH3588 heH1931 is rulerH4910 over allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714!”

But Jacob was stunnedH6313H3820, forH3588 he did notH3808 believeH539 them. 27However, when they relayedH1696 allH3605H1697 thatH834 JosephH3130 had toldH1696 themH413, and when he sawH7200 the wagonsH5699 thatH834 JosephH3130 had sentH7971 to carry himH5375 backH853, the spiritH7307 of their fatherH1 JacobH3290 was revivedH2421.

28“EnoughH7227!” declaredH559 IsraelH3478. “My sonH1121 JosephH3130 is stillH5750 aliveH2416! I will goH1980 to see himH7200 beforeH2962 I dieH4191.”
