Genesis 13
1So AbramH87 went upH5927 out of EgyptH4714 into the NegevH5045—heH1931 and his wifeH802 and all his possessionsH3605H834—and LotH3876 was with himH5973. 2And AbramH87 had become extremelyH3966 wealthyH3515 in livestockH4735 and silverH3701 and goldH2091.
3From the NegevH5045 he journeyedH1980 from place to placeH4550 towardH1008 BethelH1008, until he cameH5704 toH5704 the placeH4725 betweenH996 BethelH1008 andH996 AiH5857 whereH834 his tentH168 had formerlyH8462 been pitchedH1961H8033, 4toH413 the siteH4725 whereH834 he had builtH6213H7223 the altarH4196. And thereH8033 AbramH87 calledH7121H8033 on the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068.
5Now LotH3876, who was travelingH1980 withH854 AbramH87, alsoH1571 hadH1961 flocksH6629 and herdsH1241 and tentsH168. 6But the landH776 was unableH3808 to supportH5375 both of themH853 while they stayedH3427 togetherH3162, forH3588 they hadH1961 so manyH7227 possessionsH7399 that they were unableH3201H3808 to coexistH3427H3162. 7And there wasH1961 discordH7379 betweenH996 the herdsmenH7462 of AbramH87H996H4735 and the herdsmenH7462 of LotH3876H4735. At that timeH227 the CanaanitesH3669 and the PerizzitesH6522 were also livingH3427 in the landH776.
8So AbramH87 saidH559 toH413 LotH3876, “PleaseH4994 let there beH1961 noH408 contentionH4808 between you and meH996, or betweenH996 your herdsmenH7462H996 and my herdsmenH7462. After allH3588H582, weH587 are kinsmenH251. 9Is notH3808 the wholeH3605 landH776 before youH6440? NowH4994 separate yourselfH6504 from meH5921. IfH518 you go to the leftH8040, I will go to the rightH3231; ifH518 you go to the rightH3225, I will go to the leftH8041.”
Lot Proceeds toward Sodom
10And LotH3876 looked outH5375H5869 and sawH7200 that the wholeH3605 plainH3603 of the JordanH3383H3588, all the wayH935 to ZoarH6820, was well wateredH4945 like the gardenH1588 of the LORDH3068, like the landH776 of EgyptH4714. (This was beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 destroyedH7843 SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017.) 11So LotH3876 choseH977 the wholeH3605 plainH3603 of the JordanH3383 for himself and set outH5265 toward the eastH6924. And Abram and Lot partedH6504 companyH5921H376H251.
12AbramH87 livedH3427 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, but LotH3876 settledH3427 in the citiesH5892 of the plainH3603 and pitched his tentH167 towardH5704 SodomH5467. 13But the menH582 of SodomH5467 were wickedH7451, sinningH2400 greatlyH3966 against the LORDH3068.
God Renews the Promise to Abram
14AfterH310 LotH3876 had departedH6504H5973, the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 AbramH87, “NowH4994 lift upH5375 your eyesH5869 fromH4480 the placeH4725 whereH834 youH859 areH8033, and lookH7200 to the northH6828 and southH5045 and eastH6924 and westH3220, 15forH3588 allH3605 the landH776 thatH834 youH859 seeH7200, I will giveH5414 to you and your offspringH2233 foreverH5704H5769.1
16I will makeH7760 your offspringH2233 like the dustH6083 of the earthH776, so thatH834 ifH518 oneH376 couldH3201 countH4487 the dustH6083 of the earthH776, thenH1571 your offspringH2233 could be countedH4487. 17Get upH6965 and walkH1980 around the landH776, through its lengthH753 and breadthH7341, forH3588 I will give itH5414 to you.”
18So AbramH87 moved his tentH167 and wentH935 to liveH3427 near the OaksH4362 of MamreH4471 at HebronH2275, whereH8033 he builtH1129 an altarH4196 to the LORDH3068.
