Genesis 33

1Now JacobH3290 looked upH5375H5869 and sawH7200H2009 EsauH6215 comingH935 toward him withH5973 fourH702 hundredH3967 menH376. So he dividedH2673 the childrenH3206H5921 among LeahH3812H5921, RachelH7354H5921, and the twoH8147 maidservantsH8198. 2He putH7760 the maidservantsH8198 and theirH853 childrenH3206 in frontH7223, LeahH3812 and her childrenH3206 nextH314, and RachelH7354 and JosephH3130 at the rearH314. 3But Jacob himselfH1931 went onH5674 aheadH6440 and bowedH7812 to the groundH776 sevenH7651 timesH6471 asH5704 he approachedH5066H5704 his brotherH251.

4Esau, howeverH6215H7122, ran to himH7323 and embraced himH2263, threw his arms aroundH5307H5921 his neckH6677, and kissed himH5401. And they both weptH1058.

5When Esau looked upH5375 and sawH7200 the womenH802 and childrenH3206, he askedH559, “WhoH4310 are theseH428 with you?”

Jacob answeredH559, “These are the childrenH3206 GodH430 has graciously givenH2603 your servantH5650.” 6Then the maidservantsH8198 and theirH2007 childrenH3206 approachedH5066 and bowed downH7812. 7LeahH3812 and her childrenH3206 alsoH1571 approachedH5066 and bowed downH7812, and thenH310 JosephH3130 and RachelH7354 approachedH5066 and bowed downH7812.

8“WhatH4310 do you mean by sending thisH2088 wholeH3605 companyH4264 to meet meH6298?” asked EsauH559.

“To findH4672 favorH2580 in your sightH5869, my lordH113,” Jacob answeredH559.

9“I already haveH3426 plentyH7227, my brotherH251,” EsauH6215 repliedH559. “KeepH1961 what belongsH834 to you.”

10But JacobH3290 insistedH559, “NoH408, pleaseH4994! IfH518H4994 I have foundH4672 favorH2580 in your sightH5869, then receiveH3947 this giftH4503 from my handH3027. ForH5921H3651 indeedH3588, I have seenH7200 your faceH6440, and it is like seeingH7200 the faceH6440 of GodH430, since you have received me favorablyH7521. 11PleaseH4994 acceptH3947 my giftH12931 thatH834 was broughtH935 to you, becauseH3588 GodH430H3588 has been graciousH2603 to me and I haveH3426 all I needH3605.” So Jacob pressedH6484 him until he acceptedH3947.

12Then Esau saidH559, “Let us be on our wayH5265H1980, and I will goH1980 ahead of youH5048.”

13But Jacob repliedH559H413, “My lordH113 knowsH3045 thatH3588 the childrenH3206 are frailH7390, and I must care forH5921 sheepH6629 and cattleH1241 that are nursing their youngH5763. If they are driven hardH1849 for even aH259 dayH3117, allH3605 the animalsH6629 will dieH4191. 14PleaseH4994 let my lordH113 goH5674 ahead ofH6440 his servantH5650. IH589 will continueH5095 on slowlyH328, at a comfortable paceH7272 for the livestockH4399 and childrenH3206, untilH5704 I comeH935 toH413 my lordH113 at SeirH8165.”

15“Let me leaveH3322H4994 some ofH4480 myH834H854 peopleH5971 with youH5973,” EsauH6215 saidH559.

But Jacob repliedH559, “WhyH4100 do thatH2088? Let me findH4672 favorH2580 in the sightH5869 of my lordH113.”

16So thatH1931 dayH3117 EsauH6215 started on his wayH1870 backH7725 to SeirH8165, 17but JacobH3290 went onH5265 to SuccothH5523,2 where he builtH1129 a houseH1004 for himself and sheltersH5521 for his livestockH4735H6213; that is whyH5921H3651 the placeH4725 was calledH7121H8034 SuccothH5523.

18After JacobH3290 had comeH935 from Paddan-aramH6307H758,3 he arrivedH935 safelyH8003 at the cityH5892 of ShechemH7927 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, and he campedH2583H854 just outsideH6440 the cityH5892. 19And the plotH2513 of groundH7704 whereH834 he pitchedH5186H8033 his tentH168, he purchasedH7069 fromH3027 the sonsH1121 of HamorH2544, Shechem’sH7927 fatherH1, for a hundredH3967 pieces of silverH7192.4 20ThereH8033 he set upH5324 an altarH4196 and calledH7121 it El-Elohe-IsraelH410H430H3478.5
