1Whenכִּי֩kiH3588the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068hasH7355compassionיְרַחֵ֨םye.ra.ChemH7355onH7355Jacobיַעֲקֹ֗בya.'a.KoH3290and againעוֹד֙'OdH5750choosesוּבָחַ֥רu.va.CharH977Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and settlesוְהִנִּיחָ֖םve.hi.ni.ChamH5117them on their own landאַדְמָתָ֑ם'ad.ma.TamH127, thenstrangersהַגֵּר֙ha.GerH1616will joinוְנִלְוָ֤הve.nil.VahH3867them and attachוְנִסְפְּח֖וּve.nis.pe.ChuH5596themselves to the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Jacobיַעֲקֹֽב׃ya.'a.KoH3290.
2The peoplesעַמִּים֮'a.MimH5971will takeוּלְקָח֣וּםu.le.ka.ChumH3947them along and bringוֶהֱבִיא֣וּםve.he.vi.'UmH935them to their placeמְקוֹמָם֒me.ko.MamH4725, and thehouseבֵּֽית־beit-H1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478will makeH5157them their own possessionH5157in the landאַדְמַ֣ת'ad.MatH127of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068as maleלַעֲבָדִ֖יםla.'a.va.DimH5650and femaleוְלִשְׁפָח֑וֹתve.lish.fa.ChotH8198servantsH5650H8198; andthey will takeוְהָיוּ֙ve.ha.YuH1961H7617their captorsH7617captiveH7617and will ruleוְרָד֖וּve.ra.DuH7287over their oppressorsבְּנֹגְשֵׂיהֶֽם׃ סbe.no.ge.sei.HemH5065.
3And it will be on the dayבְּי֨וֹםbe.YomH3117when the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068givesH5117yourestהָנִ֤יחַha.Ni.achH5117from your hardshipמֵֽעָצְבְּךָ֖me.'a.tze.be.KhaH6090,your turmoilוּמֵרָגְזֶ֑ךָu.me.ra.ge.Ze.khaH7267,and from the harshהַקָּשָׁ֖הha.ka.ShahH7186serviceהָעֲבֹדָ֥הha.'a.vo.DahH5656in whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you have been enslavedעֻבַּד־'u.bad-H5647,
4that you willtakeH5375upH5375thisהַזֶּ֛הha.ZehH2088tauntהַמָּשָׁ֥לha.ma.ShalH4912againstעַל־'al-H5921the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Babylonבָּבֶ֖לba.VelH894,and sayוְאָמָ֑רְתָּve.'a.Ma.re.taH559, “Howאֵ֚יךְ'eikhH349the oppressorנֹגֵ֔שׂno.GesH5065has ceasedשָׁבַ֣תsha.VatH7673, And how theonslaughtH4787has ceasedשָׁבְתָ֖הsha.ve.TahH7673!
6Which used to strikeמַכֶּ֤הma.KehH5221the peoplesעַמִּים֙'a.MimH5971in furyבְּעֶבְרָ֔הbe.'ev.RahH5678with unceasingבִּלְתִּ֣י סָרָ֑הbil.Ti sa.RahH1115H5627strokesמַכַּ֖תma.KatH4347, Whichsubduedרֹדֶ֤הro.DehH7287the nationsגּוֹיִ֔םgo.YimH1471in angerבָאַף֙va.'AfH639with unrestrainedבְּלִ֥י חָשָֽׂךְ׃be.Li cha.SakhH2820H1097persecutionמֻרְדָּ֖ףmur.DafH4783.
8Evenגַּם־gam-H1571thejuniperH1265treesH1265rejoiceשָׂמְח֥וּsa.me.ChuH8055over you, andthe cedarsאַרְזֵ֣י'ar.ZeiH730of Lebanonלְבָנ֑וֹןle.va.NonH3844, saying, ‘SinceH3975you have been laidשָׁכַ֔בְתָּsha.Khav.taH7901lowH7901,noלֹֽא־lo'-H3808treecutterהַכֹּרֵ֖תha.ko.RetH3772comesH5927upH5927againstעָלֵֽינוּ׃'a.Lei.nuH5921us.’
9Sheolשְׁא֗וֹלshe.'olH7585belowמִתַּ֛חַתmi.Ta.chatH4480H8478isH7264excitedH7264about you, to meetלִקְרַ֣אתlik.RatH7122you when you comeבּוֹאֶ֑ךָbo.'E.khaH935;It stirsעוֹרֵ֨רo.RerH5782thespiritsH7496ofH7496theH7496deadH7496for you, allכָּל־kol-H3605theleadersעַתּ֣וּדֵי'a.Tu.deiH6260of the earthאָ֔רֶץ'A.retzH776;It raisesהֵקִים֙he.KimH6965allכֹּ֖לkolH3605the kingsמַלְכֵ֥יmal.KheiH4428of the nationsגוֹיִֽם׃go.YimH1471from their thronesמִכִּסְאוֹתָ֔םmi.kis.'o.TamH3678.
11Yourprideגְּאוֹנֶ֖ךָge.'o.Ne.khaH1347andthe musicהֶמְיַ֣תhem.YatH1998of your harpsנְבָלֶ֑יךָne.va.Lei.khaH5035Have been broughtH3381downהוּרַ֥דhu.RadH3381to Sheolשְׁא֛וֹלshe.'olH7585;Maggotsרִמָּ֔הri.MahH7415are spreadיֻצַּ֣עyu.Tza'H3331outH3331as your bedbeneathתַּחְתֶּ֙יךָ֙tach.Tei.khaH8478youAnd wormsH8439are your coveringוּמְכַסֶּ֖יךָu.me.kha.Sei.khaH4374.’
12Howאֵ֛יךְ'eikhH349you havefallenנָפַ֥לְתָּna.Fal.taH5307from heavenH4605, YoustarH1966ofH1966theH1966morningH1966,sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of the dawnשָׁ֑חַרSha.charH7837!You have been cutנִגְדַּ֣עְתָּnig.Da'.taH1438downH1438to the earthלָאָ֔רֶץla.'A.retzH776,You who defeatedחוֹלֵ֖שׁcho.LeshH2522the nationsגּוֹיִֽם׃go.YimH1471!
13But you saidאָמַ֤רְתָּ'a.Mar.taH559in your heartבִֽלְבָבְךָ֙vil.va.ve.KhaH3824, ‘I willascendאֶֽעֱלֶ֔ה'e.'e.LehH5927to heavenH4605; I willraiseאָרִ֣ים'a.RimH7311my throneכִּסְאִ֑יkis.'IH3678aboveH4605the starsלְכֽוֹכְבֵי־le.khokh.vei-H3556of Godאֵ֖ל'elH410,And I will sitוְאֵשֵׁ֥בve.'e.ShevH3427on the mountבְּהַר־be.har-H2022of assemblyמוֹעֵ֖דmo.'EdH4150In the recessesבְּיַרְכְּתֵ֥יbe.yar.ke.TeiH3411of the northצָפֽוֹן׃tza.FonH6828.
16Those who seeרֹאֶ֙יךָ֙ro.'Ei.khaH7200you will stareיַשְׁגִּ֔יחוּyash.Gi.chuH7688at you, They willcloselyH995examineH995you, saying, ‘Is thisהֲזֶ֤הha.ZehH2088the manהָאִישׁ֙ha.'IshH376who made the earthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776trembleמַרְגִּ֣יזmar.GizH7264,Who shookמַרְעִ֖ישׁmar.'IshH7493kingdomsמַמְלָכֽוֹת׃mam.la.KhotH4467,
19But you have beenhurledH7993outH7993of your tombמִֽקִּבְרְךָ֙mi.kiv.re.ChaH6913Likea rejectedנִתְעָ֔בnit.'AvH8581branchכְּנֵ֣צֶרke.Ne.tzerH5342,Clothedלְב֥וּשׁle.VushH3830with those killedהֲרֻגִ֖יםha.ru.GimH2026who have been piercedמְטֹ֣עֲנֵיme.To.'a.neiH2944with a swordחָ֑רֶבCha.revH2719,Who goיוֹרְדֵ֥יyor.DeiH3381downH3381to the stonesאַבְנֵי־'av.nei-H68of thepitב֖וֹרVorH953Like atrampledמוּבָֽס׃mu.VasH947corpseכְּפֶ֥גֶרke.Fe.gerH6297.
20You will not be unitedתֵחַ֤דte.ChadH3161with them in burialבִּקְבוּרָ֔הbik.vu.RahH6900,Becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588you have ruinedשִׁחַ֖תָּshi.Cha.taH7843your countryאַרְצְךָ֥'ar.tze.KhaH776,You have killedהָרָ֑גְתָּha.Ra.ge.taH2026your peopleעַמְּךָ֣'a.me.KhaH5971. May thedescendantsזֶ֥רַעZe.ra'H2233of evildoersמְרֵעִֽים׃me.re.'ImH7489neverלְעוֹלָ֖םle.'o.LamH3808H5769be mentionedיִקָּרֵ֥אyi.ka.Re'H7121.
21Prepareהָכִ֧ינוּha.Khi.nuH3559a placeH4293ofH4293slaughterH4293for his sonsלְבָנָ֛יוle.va.NavH1121Because of thewrongdoingבַּעֲוֹ֣ןba.'a.VonH5771of their fathersאֲבוֹתָ֑ם'a.vo.TamH1.They must not ariseיָקֻ֙מוּ֙ya.Ku.muH6965and takeוְיָ֣רְשׁוּve.Ya.re.shuH3423possessionH3423of the earthאָ֔רֶץ'A.retzH776,And fillוּמָלְא֥וּu.mal.'UH4390the surfaceפְנֵֽי־fe.nei-H6440of the worldתֵבֵ֖לte.VelH8398with citiesעָרִֽים׃'a.RimH5892.”
22“I will riseוְקַמְתִּ֣יve.kam.TiH6965upH6965againstעֲלֵיהֶ֔ם'a.lei.HemH5921them,” declaresנְאֻ֖םne.'UmH5002the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068of armiesצְבָא֑וֹתtze.va.'otH6635, “and eliminateוְהִכְרַתִּ֨יve.hikh.ra.TiH3772from Babylonלְבָבֶ֜לle.va.VelH894nameשֵׁ֥םshemH8034and survivorsוּשְׁאָ֛רu.she.'ArH7605,offspringוְנִ֥יןve.NinH5209and descendantsוָנֶ֖כֶדva.Ne.khedH5220,”declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
23“I will also makeוְשַׂמְתִּ֛יהָve.sam.Ti.haH7760it the propertyלְמוֹרַ֥שׁle.mo.RashH4180of thehedgehogקִפֹּ֖דki.PodH7090and swampsוְאַגְמֵי־ve.'ag.mei-H98of waterמָ֑יִםMa.yimH4325,and I will sweepH2894it awayH2894with the broomבְּמַטְאֲטֵ֣אbe.mat.'a.Te'H4292ofdestructionהַשְׁמֵ֔דhash.MedH8045,”declaresנְאֻ֖םne.'UmH5002the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068of armiesצְבָאֽוֹת׃ פtze.va.'otH6635.
Judgment on Assyria
24The Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068of armiesצְבָא֖וֹתtze.va.'otH6635has swornנִשְׁבַּ֛עnish.Ba'H7650,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Certainlyאִם־ לֹ֞א'im- lo'H518H3808,justH3512asH3512I have intendedדִּמִּ֙יתִי֙di.Mi.tiH1819,soכֵּ֣ןkenH3651it has happenedהָיָ֔תָהha.Ya.tahH1961,and justH3512asH3512I have plannedיָעַ֖צְתִּיya.'Atz.tiH3289,so it will standתָקֽוּם׃ta.KumH6965,
25tobreakלִשְׁבֹּ֤רlish.BorH7665Assyriaאַשּׁוּר֙'a.ShurH804in My landבְּאַרְצִ֔יbe.'ar.TziH776,and I will trampleאֲבוּסֶ֑נּוּ'a.vu.Se.nuH947him on My mountainsהָרַ֖יha.RaiH2022. Then hisyokeעֻלּ֔וֹu.LoH5923will be removedוְסָ֤רve.SarH5493from them, and his burdenוְסֻ֨בֳּל֔וֹve.Su.bo.LoH5448removedיָסֽוּר׃ya.SurH5493from their shouldersשִׁכְמ֖וֹshikh.MoH7926.
26ThisH2088is theplanהָעֵצָ֥הha.'e.TzahH6098devisedהַיְּעוּצָ֖הhai.ye.'u.TzahH3289againstעַל־'al-H5921the entireכָּל־kol-H3605earthהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776;and thisH2088is thehandהַיָּ֥דhai.YadH3027that is stretchedהַנְּטוּיָ֖הha.ne.tu.YahH5186outH5186againstעַל־'al-H5921allכָּל־kol-H3605the nationsהַגּוֹיִֽם׃ha.go.YimH1471.
27Forthe Lordיְהוָ֧הYah.wehH3068of armiesצְבָא֛וֹתtze.va.'otH6635has plannedיָעָ֖ץya.'AtzH3289,and whoוּמִ֣יu.MiH4310can frustrateיָפֵ֑רya.FerH6565it?And as for His stretched-outהַנְּטוּיָ֖הha.ne.tu.YahH5186handוְיָד֥וֹve.ya.DoH3027,whoוּֽמִ֥יu.MiH4310can turnיְשִׁיבֶֽנָּה׃ פye.shi.Ve.nahH7725it backH7725?”

30Those who are mostבְּכוֹרֵ֣יbe.kho.ReiH1060helplessדַלִּ֔יםda.LimH1800will eatוְרָעוּ֙ve.ra.'UH7462,And the poorוְאֶבְיוֹנִ֖יםve.'ev.yo.NimH34will lieיִרְבָּ֑צוּyir.Ba.tzuH7257downH7257in securityלָבֶ֣טַחla.Ve.tachH983;I will killוְהֵמַתִּ֤יve.he.ma.TiH4191your rootשָׁרְשֵׁ֔ךְsha.re.ShekhH8328withfamineבָֽרָעָב֙va.ra.'AvH7458,And it will killיַהֲרֹֽג׃ya.ha.RogH2026your survivorsוּשְׁאֵרִיתֵ֖ךְu.she.'e.ri.TekhH7611.

32Whatוּמַֽה־u.mah-H4100answerיַּעֲנֶ֖הya.'a.NehH6030will one giveH6030themessengersמַלְאֲכֵי־mal.'a.khei-H4397of the nationג֑וֹיGoyH1471? Thatthe Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068has foundedיִסַּ֣דyi.SadH3245Zionצִיּ֔וֹןtzi.YonH6726, Andthe poorעֲנִיֵּ֥י'a.ni.YeiH6041of His peopleעַמּֽוֹ׃ סa.MoH5971will takeיֶחֱס֖וּye.che.SuH2620refugeH2620in it.”
