The Valley of Vision
1The 1oracleH4853 concerning the 2valleyH1516 of visionH2384. WhatH4100 is the matter with you nowH645, that you have allH3605 goneH5927 up to the 3housetopsH1406?2You whoH4392 were fullH4392 of noiseH8663, You boisterousH1993 townH5892, you 4exultantH5947 cityH7151; Your slainH2491 were 5not slainH2491 with the swordH2719, NorH3808 6did they dieH4191 in battleH4421.37AllH3605 your rulersH7101 have fledH5074 togetherH3162, And have been capturedH631 8withoutH4480 the bowH7198; AllH3605 of you who were foundH4672 were takenH631 captiveH631 togetherH3164, 9Though they had fledH1272 farH7350 away.4ThereforeH5921H3651 I sayH559, “TurnH8159 your eyesH8159 awayH4480 from me, Let me 10weepH1065 bitterlyH4843, Do not 11tryH213 to comfortH5162 me concerningH5921 the destructionH7701 of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971.”512For the LordH136 13GodH3068 of hostsH6635 has a 14dayH3117 of panicH4103, 15subjugationH4001 and confusionH3998 16In the valleyH1516 of visionH2384, A breakingH7175 downH7175 of wallsH7023 And a cryingH7771 17to the mountainH2022.618ElamH5867 tookH5375 up the quiverH827 With the chariotsH7393, 19infantryH120 and horsemenH6571; And 20KirH7024 uncoveredH6168 the shieldH4043.7Then your choicestH4005 valleysH6010 were fullH4390 of chariotsH7393, And the horsemenH6571 tookH7896 up fixedH7896 positionsH7896 at the gateH8179.8And He removedH1540 the 21defenseH4539 of JudahH3063. In that dayH3117 you 22dependedH5027 on the weaponsH5402 of the 23houseH1004 of the forestH3293,9And you sawH7200 that the breachesH1233 In the wall of the cityH5892 of DavidH1732 were manyH7231; And you 24collectedH6908 the watersH4325 of the lowerH8481 poolH1295.10Then you countedH5608 the housesH1004 of JerusalemH3389 And toreH5422 downH5422 housesH1004 to fortifyH1219 the wallH2346.11And you madeH6213 a reservoirH4724 25betweenH996 the twoH2346 wallsH2346 For the watersH4325 of the 26oldH3465 poolH1295. But you did not 27dependH5027 on Him who madeH6213 it, NorH3808 did you 28takeH7200 into considerationH7200 Him who plannedH3335 it longH7350 agoH7350.
12Therefore in that dayH3117 the LordH136 29GodH3068 of hostsH6635 calledH7121 you to 30weepingH1065, to wailingH4553, To 31shavingH7144 the headH7144 and to wearingH2296 sackclothH8242.13Instead, there is 32gaietyH8342 and gladnessH8057, KillingH2026 of cattleH1241 and slaughteringH7819 of sheepH6629, EatingH398 of meatH1320 and drinkingH8354 of wineH3196: “33Let us eatH398 and drinkH8354, for tomorrowH4279 we may dieH4191.”14But the LordH3068 of hostsH6635 revealedH1540 Himself 34to me, “SurelyH518 thisH2088 35iniquityH5771 36shall not be 37forgivenH3722 you 38UntilH5704 you dieH4191,” saysH559 the LordH136 39GodH3068 of hostsH6635.
15ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH136 40GodH3068 of hostsH6635, “ComeH1980, goH935 to thisH2088 stewardH5532, To 41ShebnaH7644, whoH834 is in chargeH5921 of the royal householdH1004,16‘WhatH4100 right do you have hereH6311, And whomH4310 do you have hereH6311, That you have 42hewnH2672 a tombH6913 for yourself hereH6311, You who hewH2672 a tombH6913 on the heightH4791, You who carveH2710 a restingH4908 placeH4908 for 43yourself in the rockH5553?17BeholdH2009, the LordH3068 is about to hurlH2904 you headlongH2925, O manH1397. And He is about to graspH5844 you firmlyH584418And rollH6801 you tightlyH6801 like a ballH1754, To be 44cast into a vastH7342 countryH776; ThereH8033 you will dieH4191 And thereH8033 your splendidH3519 chariotsH4818 will be, You shameH7036 of your master’sH113 houseH1004.’19I will 45deposeH1920 you from your officeH4673, And 46I will pullH2040 you downH2040 from your stationH4612.20Then it will comeH1961 about in that dayH3117, That I will summonH7121 My servantH5650 47EliakimH471 the sonH1121 of HilkiahH2518,21And I will clotheH3847 him with your tunicH3801 And tieH2388 your sashH73 securelyH2388 about him. I will entrustH5414H3027 him with your 48authorityH4475, And he will becomeH1961 a 49fatherH1 to the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 and to the houseH1004 of JudahH3063.22Then I will setH5414 50the keyH4668 of the 51houseH1004 of DavidH1732 on his shoulderH7926, When he opensH6605 noH369 oneH369 will shutH5462, When he shutsH5462 noH369 oneH369 will 52openH6605.23I will driveH8628 him like a 53pegH3489 in a firmH539 placeH4725, And he will becomeH1961 a 54throneH3678 of gloryH3519 to his father’sH1 houseH1004. 24So they will hangH8518 on him allH3605 the gloryH3519 of his father’sH1 houseH1004, offspringH6631 and 55issueH6849, allH3605 the leastH6996 of vesselsH3627, from bowlsH3627H101 to allH3605 the jarsH3627H5035. 25In that dayH3117,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068 of hostsH6635, “the 56pegH3489 drivenH8628 in a firmH539 placeH4725 will giveH4185 wayH4185; it will even 57breakH1438 offH1438 and fallH5307, and the loadH4853 hanging on it will be cutH3772 offH3772, for the 58LordH3068 has spokenH1696.”
