Genesis 16:4-14
4He wentH935 in to HagarH1904, and she conceivedH2029; and when she sawH7200 that she had conceivedH2029, her mistressH1404 was despisedH7043 in her sightH5869. 5And SaraiH8297 saidH559 to AbramH87, “1May the wrongH2555 done me be upon you. I gaveH5414 my maidH8198 into your 2armsH2436, but when she sawH7200 that she had conceivedH2029, I was despisedH7043 in her 3sightH5869. 4May the LordH3068 judgeH8199 betweenH996 5you and me.” 6But AbramH87 saidH559 to SaraiH8297, “BeholdH2009, your maidH8198 is in your 6powerH3027; doH6213 to her whatH2896 is goodH2896 in your 7sightH5869.” So SaraiH8297 treatedH6031 her harshlyH6031, and 8she fledH1272 from her presenceH6440.
7Now 9the angelH4397 of the LordH3068 foundH4672 her by a springH5871 of waterH4325 in the wildernessH4057, by the springH5871 on the wayH1870 to 10ShurH7793. 8He saidH559, “HagarH1904, Sarai’sH8297 maidH8198, 11whereH335H2088 have you comeH935 from and whereH575 are you goingH1980?” And she saidH559, “I am fleeingH1272 from the presenceH6440 of my mistressH1404 SaraiH8297.” 9Then the angelH4397 of the LordH3068 saidH559 to her, “ReturnH7725 to your mistressH1404, and submitH6031 yourself 12to her authorityH3027.” 10Moreover, the 13angelH4397 of the LordH3068 saidH559 to her, “14I will greatlyH7235 multiplyH7235 your 15descendantsH2233 so that 16they will be tooH3808 manyH7230 to countH5608.” 11The angelH4397 of the LordH3068 saidH559 to her further, “BeholdH2009, you are with childH2030, And you will bearH3205 a sonH1121; And you shall callH7121 his nameH8034 17IshmaelH3458, BecauseH3588 18the LordH3068 19has givenH8085 heedH8085 to your afflictionH6040.12He will be a 20wildH6501 donkeyH6501 of a manH120, His handH3027 will be against everyoneH3605, And everyone’sH3605 handH3027 will be against him; And he will 21liveH7931 2223to the eastH6440 of allH3605 his brothersH251.” 13Then she calledH7121 the nameH8034 of the LordH3068 who spokeH1696 to her, “24You are 25a GodH410 whoH7210 seesH7200”; for she saidH559, “26Have I evenH1571 27remainedH7200 aliveH7200 hereH1988 afterH310 seeingH7210 Him?” 14ThereforeH5921H3651 the wellH875 was calledH7121 28Beer-lahai-roiH883; beholdH2009, it is betweenH996 29KadeshH6946 and BeredH1260.
