Overcoming the World

11WhoeverG3956 believesG4100 that JesusG2424 is the 2ChristG5547 is 34bornG1080 of GodG2316, and whoeverG3956 lovesG25 the 5FatherG1080 6lovesG25 the child 7bornG1080 of Him. 28By thisG3778 we knowG1097 that 9we loveG25 the childrenG5043 of GodG2316, whenG3752 we loveG25 GodG2316 and 10observeG4160 His commandmentsG1785. 3For 11thisG3778 is the loveG26 of GodG2316, that we 12keepG5083 His commandmentsG1785; and 13His commandmentsG1785 are not burdensomeG926. 4For whateverG3956 is 1415bornG1080 of GodG2316 16overcomesG3528 the worldG2889; and thisG3778 is the victoryG3529 that has overcomeG3528 the worldG2889--our faithG4102.

5WhoG5101 is the one who overcomesG3528 the worldG2889, but he who 17believesG4100 that JesusG2424 is the SonG5207 of GodG2316? 6ThisG3778 is the One who cameG2064 18by waterG5204 and bloodG129, JesusG2424 ChristG5547; not 19with the waterG5204 onlyG3440, but 20with the waterG5204 and 21with the bloodG129. It is 22the SpiritG4151 who testifiesG3140, becauseG3754 the SpiritG4151 is the truthG225. 7For thereG1510 are 23threeG5140 that testifyG3140: 824the SpiritG4151 and the waterG5204 and the bloodG129; and the threeG5140 are 25in agreementG1520. 926IfG1487 we receiveG2983 the testimonyG3141 of menG444, the testimonyG3141 of GodG2316 is greaterG3173; for the testimonyG3141 of GodG2316 is thisG3778, that 27He has testifiedG3140 concerningG4012 His SonG5207. 10The one who believesG4100 in the SonG5207 of GodG2316 28hasG2192 the testimonyG3141 in himselfG846; the one who does not believeG4100 GodG2316 has 29madeG4160 Him a liarG5583, becauseG3754 he has not believedG4100 in the testimonyG3141 that GodG2316 has givenG3140 concerningG4012 His SonG5207. 11And the testimonyG3141 is thisG3778, that GodG2316 has givenG1325 us 30eternalG166 lifeG2222, and 31thisG3778 lifeG2222 is in His SonG5207. 1232He who hasG2192 the SonG5207 hasG2192 the lifeG2222; he who does not haveG2192 the SonG5207 of GodG2316 does not haveG2192 the lifeG2222.

This Is Written That You May Know

1333TheseG3778 thingsG3778 I have writtenG1125 to you who 34believeG4100 in the nameG3686 of the SonG5207 of GodG2316, soG2443 that you may knowG3609 that you haveG2192 35eternalG166 lifeG2222. 14ThisG3778 is 36the confidenceG3954 whichG3739 we haveG2192 37beforeG4314 Him, that, 38ifG1437 we askG154 anythingG5100 accordingG2596 to His willG2307, He hearsG191 us. 15And ifG1437 we knowG3609 that He hearsG191 us in whateverG3739G1437 we askG154, 39we knowG3609 that we haveG2192 the requestsG155 whichG3739 we have askedG154 from Him.

16IfG1437 anyoneG5100 seesG3708 his brotherG80 40committingG264 a sinG266 not leading to deathG2288, 41he shall askG154 and 42God will for him giveG1325 lifeG2222 to thoseG3588 who commitG264 sinG264 not leading to deathG2288. 43There is a sinG266 leading to deathG2288; 44I do not sayG3004 that he should makeG2065 requestG2065 for thisG1565. 1745AllG3956 unrighteousnessG93 is sinG266, and 46there is a sinG266 not leading to deathG2288.

1847We knowG3609 that 48noG3956G3756 oneG3956 who is 49bornG1080 of GodG2316 sinsG264; but He who was 50bornG1080 of GodG2316 51keepsG5083 him, and 52the evilG4190 oneG4190 does not 53touchG681 him. 1954We knowG3609 that 55we are of GodG2316, and that 56the wholeG3650 worldG2889 liesG2749 in the power of the evilG4190 oneG4190. 20And 57we knowG3609 that 58the SonG5207 of GodG2316 hasG2240 comeG2240, and has 59givenG1325 us understandingG1271 soG2443 that we may knowG1097 60Him whoG228 is trueG228; and we 61are in Him whoG228 is trueG228, in His SonG5207 JesusG2424 ChristG5547. 62ThisG3778 is the trueG228 GodG2316 and 63eternalG166 lifeG2222.
