Overcoming the World

11EveryoneG3956 whoG3956 believesG4100 that JesusG2424 is the 2ChristG5547 has been 3bornG1080 of GodG2316, and everyoneG3956 whoG3956 lovesG25 the 4FatherG1080 5lovesG25 the child bornG1080 of Him. 26By thisG3778 we knowG1097 that 7we loveG25 the childrenG5043 of GodG2316, whenG3752 we loveG25 GodG2316 and 8followG4160 His commandmentsG1785. 3For 9thisG3778 is the loveG26 of GodG2316, that we 10keepG5083 His commandmentsG1785; and 11His commandmentsG1785 are not burdensomeG926. 4For 12whoeverG3956 has been 13bornG1080 of GodG2316 14overcomesG3528 the worldG2889; and thisG3778 is the victoryG3529 that has overcomeG3528 the worldG2889: our faithG4102.

5WhoG5101 is the one who overcomesG3528 the worldG2889, but the one who 15believesG4100 that JesusG2424 is the SonG5207 of GodG2316? 6ThisG3778 is the One who cameG2064 16by waterG5204 and bloodG129, JesusG2424 ChristG5547; not 17with the waterG5204 onlyG3440, but 18with the waterG5204 and 19with the bloodG129. It is 20the SpiritG4151 who testifiesG3140, becauseG3754 the SpiritG4151 is the truthG225. 7For thereG1510 are 21threeG5140 that testifyG3140: 822the SpiritG4151 and the waterG5204 and the bloodG129; and the threeG5140 are 23in agreementG1520. 924IfG1487 we receiveG2983 the testimonyG3141 of peopleG444, the testimonyG3141 of GodG2316 is greaterG3173; for the testimonyG3141 of GodG2316 is thisG3778, that 25He has testifiedG3140 concerningG4012 His SonG5207. 10The one who believesG4100 in the SonG5207 of GodG2316 26hasG2192 the testimonyG3141 in himselfG846; the one who does not believeG4100 GodG2316 has 27madeG4160 Him a liarG5583, becauseG3754 he has not believedG4100 in the testimonyG3141 that GodG2316 has givenG3140 concerningG4012 His SonG5207. 11And the testimonyG3141 is thisG3778, that GodG2316 has givenG1325 us 28eternalG166 lifeG2222, and 29thisG3778 lifeG2222 is in His SonG5207. 1230The one who hasG2192 the SonG5207 hasG2192 the lifeG2222; the one who does not haveG2192 the SonG5207 of GodG2316 does not haveG2192 the lifeG2222.

This Is Written That You May Know

1331TheseG3778 thingsG3778 I have writtenG1125 to you who 32believeG4100 in the nameG3686 of the SonG5207 of GodG2316, soG2443 thatG2443 you may knowG3609 that you haveG2192 33eternalG166 lifeG2222. 14ThisG3778 is 34the confidenceG3954 whichG3739 we haveG2192 35beforeG4314 Him, that, 36ifG1437 we askG154 anythingG5100 accordingG2596 to His willG2307, He hearsG191 us. 15And ifG1437 we knowG3609 that He hearsG191 us in whateverG3739G1437 we askG154, 37we knowG3609 that we haveG2192 the requestsG155 whichG3739 we have askedG154 from Him.

16IfG1437 anyoneG5100 seesG3708 his brotherG80 or sister 38committingG264 a sinG266 not leading to deathG2288, 39he shall askG154 and 40God will, for him, giveG1325 lifeG2222 to thoseG3588 who commitG264 sinG264 not leading to deathG2288. 41There is sinG266 leading to deathG2288; 42I am not sayingG3004 that he should askG2065 about thatG1565. 1743AllG3956 unrighteousnessG93 is sinG266, and 44there is sinG266 not leading to deathG2288.

1845We knowG3609 that 46noG3956G3756 oneG3956 who has been bornG1080 of GodG2316 47sinsG264; but He who was bornG1080 of GodG2316 48keepsG5083 him, and 49the evilG4190 oneG4190 does not 50touchG681 him. 1951We knowG3609 that 52we are of GodG2316, and that 53the wholeG3650 worldG2889 liesG2749 in the power of the evilG4190 oneG4190. 20And 54we knowG3609 that 55the SonG5207 of GodG2316 hasG2240 comeG2240, and has 56givenG1325 us understandingG1271 soG2443 thatG2443 we may knowG1097 57Him whoG3588 is trueG228; and we 58are in Him whoG3588 is trueG228, in His SonG5207 JesusG2424 ChristG5547. 59ThisG3778 is the trueG228 GodG2316 and 60eternalG166 lifeG2222.
