2When he had agreedσυμφωνήσαςsumphōnēsasG4856with the laborersἐργατῶνergatōnG2040for adenariusδηναρίουdēnariouG1220for the dayἡμέρανhēmeranG2250,he sentἀπέστειλενapesteilenG649them into his vineyardἀμπελῶναampelōnaG290.

3And he wentἐξελθὼνexelthōnG1831out aboutπερὶperiG4012thethirdτρίτηνtritēnG5154hourὥρανhōranG5610and sawG3708othersἄλλουςallousG243standingἑστῶταςhestōtasG2476idleἀργούςargousG692in the marketG58placeG58;

4and to thoseἐκείνοιςekeinoisG1565he saidG3004, ‘You alsoG2532goὑπάγετεhupageteG5217into the vineyardἀμπελῶνα,ampelōnaG290,and whateverὃ ἐὰνho eanG3739 G1437is rightδίκαιονdikaionG1342I will giveδώσωdōsōG1325you.’ And sothey wentG565.

5AgainπάλινpalinG3825he wentἐξελθὼνexelthōnG1831out aboutπερὶperiG4012thesixthἕκτηνhektēnG1623and the ninthG1729hourὥρανhōranG5610,and didἐποίησενepoiēsenG4160the sameG5615thingG5615.

6And aboutπερὶperiG4012theeleventhἑνδεκάτηνhendekatēnG1734hourhe wentἐξελθὼνexelthōnG1831out and foundεὗρενheurenG2147othersἄλλουςallousG243standingἑστῶταςhestōtasG2476around;and he saidλέγειlegeiG3004to them, ‘WhyτίtiG5101have you been standingἑστήκατεhestēkateG2476hereὧδεhōdeG5602idleἀργοί;argoiG692allὅληνholēnG3650dayἡμέρανhēmeranG2250long?’

7They saidλέγουσινlegousinG3004to him, ‘BecauseὅτιhotiG3754noG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762hiredἐμισθώσατο.emisthōsatoG3409us.’ He saidλέγειlegeiG3004to them, ‘You goὑπάγετεhupageteG5217into the vineyardἀμπελῶναampelōnaG290tooκαὶkaiG2532.’

8“WheneveningὈψίαςOpsiasG3798cameγενομένηςgenomenēsG1096, theownerκύριοςkuriosG2962of the vineyardἀμπελῶνοςampelōnosG290saidλέγειlegeiG3004to hisforemanἐπιτρόπῳepitropōG2012, ‘CallκάλεσονkalesonG2564the laborersἐργάταςergatasG2040and payἀπόδοςapodosG591them their wagesμισθὸνmisthonG3408,beginningἀρξάμενοςarxamenosG757with the lastἐσχάτωνeschatōnG2078groupto the firstπρώτων.prōtōnG4413.’

9WhenκαὶkaiG2532thoseG3588hiredaboutπερὶperiG4012the eleventhἑνδεκάτηνhendekatēnG1734hourὥρανhōranG5610cameἐλθόντεςelthontesG2064,eachG303oneG303receivedἔλαβονelabonG2983adenariusδηνάριον.dēnarionG1220.

10When thoseG3588hiredfirstπρῶτοιprōtoiG4413cameἐλθόντεςelthontesG2064,they thoughtἐνόμισανenomisanG3543that they would receiveλήμψονται·lēmpsontaiG2983moreG4183;but eachἀνὰanaG303of them alsoG2532receivedἔλαβονelabonG2983a denariusδηνάριονdēnarionG1220.

11When they receivedλαβόντεςlabontesG2983it, they grumbledἐγόγγυζονegonguzonG1111at the landownerοἰκοδεσπότουoikodespotouG3617,

12sayingλέγοντεςlegontesG3004, ‘TheseοὗτοιhoutoiG3778lastἔσχατοιeschatoiG2078menG2078have workedἐποίησαν,epoiēsanG4160onlyoneμίανmianG1520hourὥρανhōranG5610,and you have madeἐποίησας,epoiēsasG4160them equalἴσουςisousG2470to us whoG3588have borneβαστάσασινbastasasinG941the burdenβάροςbarosG922and thescorchingG2742heatκαύσωνα.kausōnaG2742of the dayἡμέραςhēmerasG2250.’

13But he answeredἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611and saidG3004to oneἑνὶheniG1520of them, ‘Friendἑταῖρε,hetaireG2083,I am doingG91you noοὐκoukG3756wrongἀδικῶadikōG91;did you not agreeσυνεφώνησάςsunephōnēsasG4856with me for a denariusδηναρίουdēnariouG1220?

14TakeἆρονaronG142whatG3588is yoursG4674and goὕπαγε.hupageG5217,but I wishθέλωthelōG2309to giveδοῦναιdounaiG1325to thisτούτῳtoutōG3778lastἐσχάτῳeschatōG2078manG2078the sameG2532as to you.

15Is it not lawfulἔξεστίνexestinG1832for me to doποιῆσαιpoiēsaiG4160whatὃhoG3739I wishθέλωthelōG2309with whatG3588is my ownG1699?OrG2228is youreyeὀφθαλμόςophthalmosG3788enviousπονηρόςponērosG4190becauseὅτιhotiG3754I amG1510generousἀγαθόςagathosG18?’

16SoοὕτωςhoutōsG3779the lastἔσχατοιeschatoiG2078shall be firstπρῶτοιprōtoiG4413,and the firstπρῶτοιprōtoiG4413lastἔσχατοιeschatoiG2078.”

17As JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424was aboutG3195to goἀναβαίνωνanabainōnG305up to JerusalemἹεροσόλυμαHi'erosolumaG2414,He tookπαρέλαβενparelabenG3880the twelveδώδεκαdōdekaG1427disciplesaside by themselvesἰδίανidianG2398,and on the wayὁδῷhodōG3598He saidG3004to them,

18“BeholdἰδοὺidouG2400,we are goingἀναβαίνομενanabainomenG305up to JerusalemἹεροσόλυμα,Hi'erosolumaG2414;and the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of ManἀνθρώπουanthrōpouG444will bedeliveredπαραδοθήσεταιparadothēsetaiG3860to the chiefἀρχιερεῦσινarchiereusinG749priestsG749and scribesγραμματεῦσιν,grammateusinG1122,and they will condemnκατακρινοῦσινkatakrinousinG2632Him to deathθανάτῳthanatōG2288,

19andwill handπαραδώσουσινparadōsousinG3860Him over to the GentilesἔθνεσινethnesinG1484to mockἐμπαῖξαιempaixaiG1702and scourgeμαστιγῶσαιmastigōsaiG3146and crucifyσταυρῶσαι·staurōsaiG4717Him, and onthe thirdτρίτῃtritēG5154dayἡμέρᾳhēmeraG2250He will be raisedἐγερθήσεται.¶egerthēsetaiG1453up.”

20ThenΤότεToteG5119the motherμήτηρmētērG3384ofthe sonsυἱῶνhuiōnG5207of ZebedeeΖεβεδαίουZebedaiouG2199cameπροσῆλθενprosēlthenG4334toJesus with her sonsυἱῶνhuiōnG5207,bowingG4352downπροσκυνοῦσαproskunousaG4352and makingG154a requestG154of Him.

21And He saidλέγειlegeiG3004to her,“WhatτίtiG5101do you wishθέλεις;theleisG2309?”She saidG3004to Him, “CommandG3004that in Your kingdomβασιλείᾳbasileiaG932theseοὗτοιhoutoiG3778twoδύοduoG1417sonsυἱοίhuioiG5207of mineG1473may sitκαθίσωσινkathisōsinG2523oneεἷςheisG1520on Your rightδεξιῶνdexiōnG1188and oneεἷςheisG1520on Your leftεὐωνύμωνeuōnumōnG2176.”

22But JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424answeredἈποκριθεὶςApokritheisG611,“You do not knowG3609whatτίtiG5101you are askingαἰτεῖσθε.aiteistheG154.Are you ableδύνασθεdunastheG1410to drinkπιεῖνpieinG4095the cupποτήριονpotērionG4221that I amG3195aboutG3195to drinkπίνεινpineinG4095?”They saidλέγουσινlegousinG3004to Him, “We are ableδυνάμεθα.¶dunamethaG1410.”

23He saidλέγειlegeiG3004to them, “My cupποτήριόνpotērionG4221you shall drinkπίεσθεpiestheG4095;but to sitκαθίσαιkathisaiG2523on My rightδεξιῶνdexiōnG1188and on MyleftεὐωνύμωνeuōnumōnG2176,thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778is not MineG1699to giveδοῦναι,dounaiG1325,but it is for those for whomοἷςhoisG3739it has beenpreparedἡτοίμασταιhētoimastaiG2090by My FatherπατρόςpatrosG3962.”

24And hearingἀκούσαντεςakousantesG191this,the tenδέκαdekaG1176became indignantἠγανάκτησανēganaktēsanG23with the twoδύοduoG1417brothersἀδελφῶν.¶adelphōnG80.
