Numbers 14
1And all the congregationH5712 liftedH5375 up their voiceH6963, and cried; and the peopleH5971 weptH1058 that nightH3915. 2And all the children of IsraelH3478 murmured against MosesH4872 and against AaronH175: and the whole congregationH5712 saidH559 unto them, Would that we had diedH4191 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714! or would that we had diedH4191 in this wildernessH4057! 3And wherefore doth Jehovah bringH935 us unto this landH776, to fallH5307 by the swordH2719? Our wivesH802 and our littleH2945 onesH2945 will beH1961 a preyH957: wereH1961 it not betterH2896 for us to returnH7725 into EgyptH4714?
4And they saidH559 oneH376 to another, Let us makeH5414 a captain, and let us returnH7725 into EgyptH4714. 5Then MosesH4872 and AaronH175 fellH5307 on their facesH6440 before all the assemblyH6951 of the congregationH5712 of the children of IsraelH3478. 6And JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126 and CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312, who were of them that spiedH8446 out the landH776, rent their clothesH899: 7and they spake unto all the congregationH5712 of the children of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, The landH776, which we passedH5674 through to spyH8446 it out, is an exceeding goodH2896 landH776. 8If Jehovah delightH2654 in us, then he will bringH935 us into this landH776, and giveH5414 it unto us; a landH776 which floweth with milkH2461 and honeyH1706. 9OnlyH389 rebelH4775 not against Jehovah, neither fearH3372 ye the peopleH5971 of the landH776; for they are breadH3899 for us: their defence is removedH5493 from over them, and Jehovah is with us: fearH3372 them not. 10But all the congregationH5712 bade stoneH68 them with stonesH68. And the gloryH3519 of Jehovah appearedH7200 in the tentH168 of meetingH4150 unto all the children of IsraelH3478.
11And Jehovah saidH559 unto MosesH4872, How long will this peopleH5971 despise me? and how long will they not believeH539 in me, for all the signsH226 which I have wrought among them? 12I will smite them with the pestilenceH1698, and disinherit them, and will makeH6213 of thee a nationH1471 greaterH1419 and mightierH6099 than they.
13And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto Jehovah, Then the EgyptiansH4713 will hearH8085 it; for thou broughtest up this peopleH5971 in thy might from among them; 14and they will tell it to the inhabitantsH3427 of this landH776. They have heardH8085 that thou Jehovah art in the midstH7130 of this peopleH5971; for thou Jehovah art seenH7200 faceH6440 to faceH6440, and thy cloudH6051 standeth over them, and thou goest before them, in a pillarH5982 of cloudH6051 by dayH3119, and in a pillarH5982 of fireH784 by nightH3915. 15Now if thou shalt killH4191 this peopleH5971 as oneH259 manH376, then the nationsH1471 which have heardH8085 the fame of thee will speak, sayingH559, 16Because Jehovah was not ableH3201 to bringH935 this peopleH5971 into the landH776 which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wildernessH4057. 17And nowH6258, I pray thee, let the powerH3581 of the LordH136 be greatH1431, according as thou hast spokenH1696, sayingH559, 18Jehovah is slow to angerH639, and abundant in lovingkindness, forgivingH5375 iniquityH5771 and transgressionH6588; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visitingH6485 the iniquityH5771 of the fathersH1 upon the children, upon the thirdH8029 and upon the fourthH7256 generationH8029. 19Pardon, I pray thee, the iniquityH5771 of this peopleH5971 according unto the greatnessH1433 of thy lovingkindness, and according as thou hast forgivenH5545 this peopleH5971, from EgyptH4714 even until now.
20And Jehovah saidH559, I have pardoned according to thy wordH1697: 21but in very deed, as I live, and as all the earthH776 shall be filledH4390 with the gloryH3519 of Jehovah; 22because all those menH376 that have seenH7200 my gloryH3519, and my signsH226, which I wrought in EgyptH4714 and in the wildernessH4057, yet have tempted me these tenH6235 timesH6471, and have not hearkened to my voiceH6963; 23surely they shall not seeH7200 the landH776 which I sware unto their fathersH1, neither shall any of them that despised me seeH7200 it: 24but my servantH5650 CalebH3612, because he had another spiritH7307 with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bringH935 into the landH776 whereinto he wentH935; and his seedH2233 shall possessH3423 it. 25Now the AmalekiteH6003 and the CanaaniteH3669 dwellH3427 in the valleyH6010: to-morrow turnH6437 ye, and get you into the wildernessH4057 by the wayH1870 to the Red SeaH3220.
26And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872 and unto AaronH175, sayingH559, 27How long shall I bear with this evilH7451 congregationH5712, that murmur against me? I have heardH8085 the murmurings of the children of IsraelH3478, which they murmur against me. 28SayH559 unto them, As I live, saith Jehovah, surely as ye have spokenH1696 in mine earsH241, soH3651 will I do to you: 29your dead bodies shall fallH5307 in this wildernessH4057; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole numberH4557, from twentyH6242 yearsH8141 old and upwardH4605, that have murmured against me, 30surely ye shall not comeH935 into the landH776, concerningH413 which I sware that I would make you dwellH7931 therein, save CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312, and JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126. 31But your littleH2945 onesH2945, that ye saidH559 should beH1961 a preyH957, them will I bringH935 in, and they shall knowH3045 the landH776 which ye have rejectedH3988. 32But as for you, your dead bodies shall fallH5307 in this wildernessH4057. 33And your children shall beH1961 wanderers in the wildernessH4057 fortyH705 yearsH8141, and shall bearH5375 your whoredoms, until your dead bodies beH1961 consumed in the wildernessH4057. 34After the numberH4557 of the daysH3117 in which ye spiedH8446 out the landH776, even fortyH705 daysH3117, for every dayH3117 a yearH8141, shall ye bearH5375 your iniquitiesH5771, even fortyH705 yearsH8141, and ye shall knowH3045 my alienation. 35I, Jehovah, have spokenH1696, surely this will I do unto all this evilH7451 congregationH5712, that are gatheredH3259 togetherH3259 against me: in this wildernessH4057 they shall be consumed, and there they shall dieH4191.
36And the menH376, whom MosesH4872 sentH7971 to spyH8446 out the landH776, who returnedH7725, and made all the congregationH5712 to murmur against him, by bringingH3318 up an evilH1681 reportH1681 against the landH776, 37even those menH376 that did bringH3318 up an evilH7451 reportH1681 of the landH776, diedH4191 by the plagueH4046 before Jehovah. 38But JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, and CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312, remained aliveH2421 of those menH376 that wentH1980 to spyH8446 out the landH776.
39And MosesH4872 told these wordsH1697 unto all the children of IsraelH3478: and the peopleH5971 mournedH56 greatly. 40And they roseH7925 up earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and gat them up to the topH7218 of the mountainH2022, sayingH559, Lo, we are here, and will goH5927 up unto the placeH4725 which Jehovah hath promised: for we have sinnedH2398. 41And MosesH4872 saidH559, Wherefore now do ye transgressH5674 the commandment of Jehovah, seeing it shall not prosperH6743? 42GoH5927 not up, for Jehovah is not among you; that ye be not smitten down before your enemiesH341. 43For there the AmalekiteH6003 and the CanaaniteH3669 are before you, and ye shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719: because ye are turnedH7725 backH7725 from following Jehovah, thereforeH3651 Jehovah will not beH1961 with you. 44But they presumed to goH5927 up to the topH7218 of the mountainH2022: nevertheless the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of Jehovah, and MosesH4872, departedH4185 not out of the campH4264. 45Then the AmalekiteH6003 cameH3381 downH3381, and the CanaaniteH3669 who dweltH3427 in that mountainH2022, and smote them and beat them downH3381, even unto HormahH2767.
