Samuel 15:8-33

And he took AgagH90 the kingH4428 of AmalekH6002 aliveH2416, and utterly destroyed all the peopleH5971 with the edge of the swordH2719.

And SaulH7586 and the peopleH5971 sparedH2550 AgagH90, and the best of the sheepH6629 and oxenH1241, and beasts of the secondH4932 bearing, and the lambsH3733, and all that was goodH2896, and wouldH14 not devote them to destruction; but everythingH3605 that was mean and weak, that they destroyed utterly.

And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came to SamuelH8050, sayingH559,

It repenteth me that I have setH6965 up SaulH7586 to be kingH4428; for he is turnedH7725 awayH7725 from following me, and hath not fulfilled my wordsH1697. And SamuelH8050 was much grieved; and he criedH2199 to Jehovah all nightH3915.

And SamuelH8050 roseH7925 earlyH7925 to meetH7122 SaulH7586 in the morningH1242. And it was toldH5046 SamuelH8050, sayingH559, SaulH7586 cameH935 to CarmelH3760, and behold, he setH5324 him up a monument, and has turnedH5437 about, and passedH5674 on, and goneH3381 downH3381 to GilgalH1537.

And SamuelH8050 cameH935 to SaulH7586; and SaulH7586 saidH559 to him, BlessedH1288 art thou of Jehovah: I have fulfilled the wordH1697 of Jehovah.

And SamuelH8050 saidH559, What [means] then this bleating of sheepH6629 in mine earsH241, and the lowing of oxenH1241 which I hearH8085?

And SaulH7586 saidH559, They have broughtH935 them from the Amalekites, because the peopleH5971 sparedH2550 the best of the sheepH6629 and of the oxenH1241, to sacrificeH2076 to Jehovah thy 1GodH430; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

And SamuelH8050 saidH559 to SaulH7586, Stay, that I may tellH5046 thee what Jehovah has saidH559 to me this nightH3915. And he saidH559 to him, SayH559 on.

And SamuelH8050 saidH559, Was it not when thou wast littleH6996 in thine eyesH5869 that thou [becamest] the headH7218 of the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, and Jehovah anointedH4886 thee kingH4428 over IsraelH3478?

And Jehovah sentH7971 thee on a wayH1870 and saidH559, GoH7971 and utterly destroyH3615 the sinnersH2400 the Amalekites, and fightH3898 against them until they be consumed.

WhyH4100 then didst thou not hearken to the voiceH6963 of Jehovah, but didst fall upon the spoilH7998, and didst evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah?

And SaulH7586 saidH559 to SamuelH8050, I have indeed hearkened to the voiceH6963 of Jehovah, and have goneH935 the wayH1870 which Jehovah sentH7971 me, and have broughtH935 AgagH90 the kingH4428 of AmalekH6002, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

But the peopleH5971 tookH3947 of the spoilH7998, sheepH6629 and oxenH1241, the choicest of the devoted things, to sacrificeH2076 to Jehovah thy 2GodH430 in GilgalH1537.

And SamuelH8050 saidH559, Has Jehovah delightH2656 in burnt-offerings and sacrificesH2077, As in hearkening to the voiceH6963 of Jehovah? Behold, obedience is betterH2896 than sacrificeH2077, AttentionH7181 than the fatH2459 of ramsH352.

For rebellionH4805 is [as] the sinH2403 of divinationH7081, And selfwill is [as] iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejectedH3988 the wordH1697 of Jehovah, He hath also rejectedH3988 thee from being kingH4428.

And SaulH7586 saidH559 to SamuelH8050, I have sinnedH2398, for I have transgressed the commandment of Jehovah, and thy wordsH1697; for I fearedH3372 the peopleH5971, and hearkened to their voiceH6963.

And nowH6258, I pray thee, forgiveH5375 my sinH2403, and turnH7725 again with me, that I may worship Jehovah.

And SamuelH8050 saidH559 to SaulH7586, I will not turnH7725 again with thee; for thou hast rejectedH3988 the wordH1697 of Jehovah, and Jehovah has rejectedH3988 thee from being kingH4428 over IsraelH3478.

And as SamuelH8050 turnedH5437 to goH5437 awayH5437, [Saul] laid holdH2388 upon the skirtH3671 of his mantle, and it rent.

Then SamuelH8050 saidH559 to him, Jehovah has rent the kingdomH4468 of IsraelH3478 from thee to-day, and has givenH5414 it to thy neighbour, who is betterH2896 than thou.

And alsoH1571 the Hope of IsraelH3478 will not lie nor repentH5162; for he is not a manH120, that he should repentH5162.

And he saidH559, I have sinnedH2398; honour me nowH6258, I pray thee, before the eldersH2205 of my peopleH5971, and before IsraelH3478, and turnH7725 again with me, that I may worship Jehovah thy 3GodH430.

So SamuelH8050 turnedH7725 again after SaulH7586; and SaulH7586 worshipped Jehovah.

And SamuelH8050 saidH559, BringH5066 ye near to me AgagH90 the kingH4428 of AmalekH6002. And AgagH90 came to him gaily. And AgagH90 saidH559, Surely the bitternessH4751 of deathH4194 is past.

And SamuelH8050 saidH559, As thy swordH2719 has madeH7921 womenH802 childlessH7921, soH3651 shall thy motherH517 be childlessH7921 above womenH802. And SamuelH8050 hewed AgagH90 in pieces before Jehovah in GilgalH1537.
