Samuel 14:24-30

But the menH376 of IsraelH3478 were distressed that dayH3117. Now SaulH7586 had adjured the peopleH5971, sayingH559, CursedH779 be the manH376 that eateth foodH3899 until eveningH6153, and [until] I am avengedH5358 on mine enemiesH341. So none of the peopleH5971 tastedH2938 foodH3899.

And all they of the landH776 cameH935 to a wood; and there wasH1961 honeyH1706 on the groundH776.

And the peopleH5971 had comeH935 into the wood, and behold, the honeyH1706 flowed; but no man put his handH3027 to his mouthH6310, for the peopleH5971 fearedH3372 the oathH7621.

But JonathanH3129 had not heardH8085 whenH834 his fatherH1 adjured the peopleH5971; and he put forthH7971 the endH7097 of his staffH4294 which was in his handH3027, and dippedH2881 it in the honeycomb, and put his handH3027 to his mouthH6310, and his eyesH5869 became bright.

Then answered oneH376 of the peopleH5971 and saidH559, Thy fatherH1 strictly adjured the peopleH5971, sayingH559, CursedH779 be the manH376 that eateth foodH3899 this dayH3117; and the peopleH5971 are faint.

And JonathanH3129 saidH559, My fatherH1 has troubledH5916 the landH776: seeH7200, I pray you, that mine eyesH5869 are bright, because I tastedH2938 a littleH4592 of this honeyH1706.

How muchH7235 more, if the peopleH5971 had eatenH398 freely to-day of the spoilH7998 of their enemiesH341 which they foundH4672? for would there not nowH6258 have been a muchH7235 greaterH7235 slaughterH4347 among the PhilistinesH6430?
