Matthew 20:2-14
2He agreedG4856 to pay them a denariusG12201 forG1537 theG3588 dayG2250 and sentG649 themG846 intoG1519 hisG846 vineyardG290.
AboutG4012 the thirdG5154 hourG56102 he went outG1831 and sawG3708 othersG243 standingG2476 inG1722 theG3588 marketplaceG58 doing nothingG692. 4‘YouG4771 alsoG2532 goG5217 intoG1519 my vineyardG290,’ he saidG2036, ‘andG2532 I will payG1325 youG4771 whateverG3739G1437 isG1510 rightG1342.’ 5SoG1161 they wentG565.
He went outG1831 againG3825 aboutG4012 the sixthG1623 hour andG2532 the ninthG1766 hourG56103 and didG4160 the same thingG5615.
AboutG4012 theG3588 eleventhG1734 hour4 he went outG1831 and foundG2147 still othersG243 standingG2476 around. ‘WhyG5101 have you been standingG2476 hereG5602 allG3650 dayG2250 long doing nothingG692?’ he askedG3004G846.
7‘BecauseG3754 no oneG3762 has hiredG3409 usG1473,’ they answeredG3004G846.
So he toldG3004 themG846, ‘YouG4771 alsoG2532 goG5217 intoG1519 my vineyardG290.’5
8WhenG1161 eveningG3798 cameG1096, theG3588 ownerG2962 of theG3588 vineyardG290 saidG3004 toG3588 hisG846 foremanG2012, ‘CallG2564 theG3588 workersG2040 andG2532 payG591 themG846 their wagesG3408, startingG756 withG575 theG3588 lastG2078 ones hired and moving onG2193 to theG3588 firstG4413.’
The workers who were hired aboutG4012 theG3588 eleventhG1734 hourG5610 cameG2064 and eachG303 receivedG2983 a denariusG1220. 10So whenG2532 theG3588 originalG4413 workers cameG2064, they assumedG3543 they would receiveG2983 moreG4119. ButG2532 eachG303 of themG846 alsoG2532 receivedG2983 a denariusG1220.
On receivingG2983 their pay, they began to grumbleG1111 againstG2596 theG3588 landownerG3617. 12‘TheseG3778 men who were hired lastG2078 workedG4160 only oneG1520 hourG5610,’ they saidG3004, ‘andG2532 you have madeG4160 themG846 equalG2470 to usG1473 whoG3588 have borneG941 theG3588 burdenG922 andG2532 theG3588 scorching heatG2742 of theG3588 dayG2250.’
13ButG1161 he answeredG611 oneG1520 of themG846, ‘FriendG2083, I am not being unfairG3756G91 to youG4771. Did you not agreeG3780G4856 with meG1473 on one denariusG1220? 14TakeG142 yourG4674 pay andG2532 goG5217. I wantG2309 to giveG1325 thisG3778 lastG2078 man the same asG5613 I gave youG4771.
