Jeremiah 24
1AfterH310 NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 had carried awayH1540 JeconiahH32041 sonH1121 of JehoiakimH3079 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, as well asH853 the officialsH8269 of JudahH3063 and the craftsmenH2796 and metalsmithsH4525 from JerusalemH3389, and had brought themH935 to BabylonH894,2 the LORDH3068 showed meH7200 twoH8147 basketsH1731 of figsH8384 placedH3259 in front ofH6440 the templeH1964 of the LORDH3068. 2OneH259 basketH1731 had veryH3966 goodH2896 figsH8384, like those that ripen earlyH8384H1063, but the otherH259 basketH1731 contained veryH3966 poorH7451 figsH8384, so badH7455 they could notH3808 be eatenH398.
3“JeremiahH3414,” the LORDH3068 askedH559, “whatH4100 do youH859 seeH7200?”
“FigsH8384!” I repliedH559. “The goodH2896 figsH8384 are veryH3966 goodH2896, but the bad figsH7451 are veryH3966 badH7451, so badH7455 they cannotH3808 be eatenH398.”
4Then the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 to meH413, sayingH559, 5“This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, saysH559: ‘Like theseH428 goodH2896 figsH8384, soH3651 I regardH5234 as goodH2896 the exilesH1546 from JudahH3063, whomH834 I have sent awayH7971 fromH4480 thisH2088 placeH4725 to the landH776 of the ChaldeansH3778.3 6I will keepH7760 My eyesH5869 on themH5921 for goodH2896 and will return themH7725 toH5921 thisH2063 landH776. I will build them upH1129 and notH3808 tear them downH2040; I will plant themH5193 and notH3808 uproot themH5428. 7I will giveH5414 them a heartH3820 to know MeH3045, thatH3588 IH589 am the LORDH3068. They will beH1961 My peopleH5971, and IH595 will beH1961 their GodH430, forH3588 they will returnH7725 to MeH413 with allH3605 their heartH3820.
8But like the badH7451 figsH8384, so badH7455H3588 they cannotH3808 be eatenH398,’ saysH559 the LORDH3068, ‘soH3651 will I deal withH5414 ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, his officialsH8269, and the remnantH7611 of JerusalemH3389—those remainingH7604 in thisH2063 landH776 and those livingH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 9I will make themH5414 a horrorH2113 and an offenseH7451 to allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776, a disgraceH2781 and an object of scornH4912, ridiculeH8148, and cursingH7045 whereverH3605H4725 I have banished themH5080H8033. 10And I will sendH7971 against them swordH2719 and famineH7458 and plagueH1698, untilH5704 they have perishedH8552 fromH5921 the landH127 thatH834 I gaveH5414 to them and their fathersH1.’”
